Hello everyone, just joined the board. I am a retired engineer and a long-suffering Knicks' fan from Upstate New York. I hope to live long enough to see the Knicks win an NBA championship.

Have you considered cryogenics? Actually, we’re all wondering if we’ll witness a championship in our lifetimes. Even the young guys.

I was a mechanical engineer at a high tech company for many years. A graduate of Binghamton University and did some grad work at Syracuse University. Actually been retired for several years. Now I enjoy the good life with a few grandchildren and even a great grandson while putting around on my Fat Boy between fishing and hacking (er..golfing)

Welcome to the board! I'm a proud CBA and SU grad living in China for the past 20 years. This is by far the best place on the internet for deep and intelligent talk about the Knicks. I’ve tried but my roots being a kid in the early 70’s when magic was in the garden and left the indelible mark that carries today.
This is a great place to chat. Many have come an gone but bring something to the forums and you’ll have a good time. Ok to have an opinion and argue. All some of us ask is state whats yours vs. making shyt up and passing as fact. being an engineer you’ll have not problems with that!! LOL

I grew up on one of the larger dairy farms in the boondocks inside a triangle made by Syracuse, Ithaca, and Binghamton. During my working adult years, I lived in Binghamton, but now that I'm retired I'm back in the rural country next to hills, valleys, and a beautiful river in front of the house where eagles fly overhead and the coyotes howl at night. on the plus side, you were able to retire- congrats. thinking i will just work until I can't.
On the down side, i don't think I will live long enough to see them win a title.
Now maybe if I could get to 99 like my grand pa, I would stand a chance, but don't see that happening.

I feel the pursuit is the true joy of the chip. win or lose has to be able to say “That was fun”. After all, what is a chip mean to us as fans?
I recall the 94’ finals and the loss. We had our daughter that April and for two months were very much bound to the house that were the playoffs. when we lost, I had to still go to work, feed the kids, etc. My point is it was really fun until it was not.
1999 it was so undepected that the end was “A good season, better than predicted”.
Granted, I want to find out how it feels but its not like we own the team, or in the FO, or coach, or a player. We are entertained.
WE are fond of the 90’s era team. I read the chris herring book that covers the that and while painful to revisit certain things, as a fan I see it better with more facts and retrospective view.
More important I want children to have it. Its part of growing up when “Your team” wins as a kid. Very special. Was for me. I enjoy hearing others recall stories about their “chips” with teams as a kid. I live in NC were people are from all over. The magic of Dean Smith and the UNC chips and heroes are incredible. Jordan is a god down here even still. I do enjoy Bill Simmons recall his Celtic and redsox affections and he is funny about it.
I have also learned to appreciate other teams success. Yes, find inspiration and respect even for this celtic team. Maybe when we are contending and teams kill our ambitions I might feel different but for now I have little room to hate on others. Life is too short and there are far too many issues and real life villains to fret over.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Probably due to the draft coming up, message boards tend to get newbies. I know that that is what enticed me to join. Spending a couple of weeks researching and preparing for the draft and finding too little information, so I looked around for a message board and this one seemed like the best one of the few I found. When I see the last post on a board was on December 2021, I tend to think it's a dead board. This one had a large number of posters and new posts every day.
