Knicks · Hoping Knicks do not take Burks for granted. (page 1)

Wanted to give some love to Burks. Think he is one of our glue guys. Thought Bullock was another one we took for granted and were hurt by it. Hoping we do not make the same mistake. Some may forget the year Burks had coming off the bench in 20/21. Won a lot of games for us. Some may not understand the difficulties and challenges being asked to be lead PG. Despite that he still had a decent year. One in which it seems he was playing with a foot injury at the end of the season. He is a quintessential team guy. He is able to play different roles on offense. Decent defender and has a lot of experience. He can shoot the three and can play on varied rotations. He also seems to be okay with the NYC lights. Think he is a solid player. We need solid players and feel losing him will be a shame. Hope the Knicks do not take him for granted an use him as a salary dump in order to pick up another piece that may not translate to more wins. One that may be costly. ie Brunson. Even worse, hope he is not part of the huge package that will go to Sacramento for a chance at a long shot hopeful. Thinking the Kings will want something like Burks, Walker, Obi, 11th, next years Dallas pick and a couple of second round picks for the 4th and Barnes. Sac town would unload a salary, pick up a boat load of draft assets and a youngin. Do not see the Knicks doing that but feel something similar is what the Kings would want and what the Knicks are entertaining.

Really hoping and thinking the Knicks will keep what they have on the roster and trade down to pick up two possible needs. Williams and Wesley would be cool. But several other picks mentioned on here seem good there as well. Ones that may be Grimes/IQ type value picks. We shall see. Just wanted to acknowledge Burks as a sound contributor the last couple of years.

Burks is very good and has values. He also just got his foot operated on so that might impede any movement

Hopefully it was just more like Pedicure Gone Wild level of foot surgery

Always suspected that bro had some weird foot fetish thing going on

I agree with you that Burks deserves a ton of credit for the success we had 20-21. Nor do I blame him for last year's disappointment. It was unfair to put him into the full-time PG role. Prior to that, he had some fantastic games coming up clutch (that 4th Q with 5 threes stands out in particular).

But I think he's just a necessary casualty to move the team forward. We don't have the veteran-led, > .500 team we thought we had this time last year. Randle took a big step back, Rose & Noel were missing in action, and Kemba was a lost gamble.

If we're going to grow, we've got to find minutes for our young guys and see what we've got. Push come to shove, Burks is just easier to move than Fournier. Grimes, Cam, even Deuce can start dipping into those minutes.

FO could still find a way to keep Kobe Burks and make it work, but moving on seems to be the most straightforward approach and fits the revised timeline.

Nice player, was badly miscast as a full time pg last season. If we can dump his contract to get cap room to sign Brunson it’s beyond a no brainer

Why so defensive? Is that you Rex Ryan?

was he miscast or did every other guy who plays the position get hurt or totally suck? Nobody said "lets make Burks the PG"

Well, to be fair, he has his chip, and we have our feet's in our mouths more than not, so perhaps its just a good hygiene regimen we should all follow?
As for his injury? I suppose they gave it 8 weeks to heal (no pun intended) and now they have a timeline were he is ok by camp still. if not serious, it should be ok?

as for topic? Yeah, we jumped on Burks for being PG yet he was .500 in his time there for us? Is that what I have read? Not the long term solution but his play might not have been the cause of our issues.
It also gave IQ time to develop. This when DRose left the lineup to injury. ANd yes, our favorite mascot we call Deuce got some run also.
Thus, rather than panic and burn an asset for a retread, we solved form within and developed further. Not sexy, but effective.

Depends on how groatty ones toes really are?

for someone with limited sentence structure, vocabulary, or ability to inhibit redundancy, absorb concepts, and facts, you use "no brainer" rather often.
which is kind of funny.

Not sure paying close to $25M for a player with one year of above average success is a "No Brainer"
More so if we have to do it via sign and trade and lose asset's. Which may be the case an another instance Cuban will get the long end of the stick. Imo
I also question how much playing with Luka helped.
Watching him play against us last year and on regular basis on league pass just did not impress me. Grant it, he did have some food games in playoffs. Think if we overpay Knick fans will have very high expectations. Ones that I do not think he will meet. Rather get a guy like Tyus and watch him overachieve.

I'm going to say it- I'd rather have Burkes than Brogdon (who is a slightly better Burkes but with a worse contract and a lot more injuries).

I would love to have Burks back as the starting 3 with either IQ or Ivey (IQ goes in this trade) as the starting PG. Burks is a really good 2nd ball handler and would really take pressure off one of those guys being new NBA PGs. Plus Burks is a sniper and defends well
Nalod @ 6/23/2022 4:39 PM
Im ready to move on from Burks. No hate, just time to make room for yoot. No issues here if he sticks. He's been a good knick and coach trusts him.
Wish him well.

One of my points on what I do not want to happen. Trading some solid pieces for more costly ones that may not pan out. Brogdon is a good example. He is a solid player. But is injury prone. Considering the cost that has been mentioned in order to acquire him, feel starting IQ and having Burks on the roster is better alternative. One that will translates to more wins.
