This post explains the draft. We must be using oklahoma picks to acquire a standing nba player of unknown origin or a way to get to free agency by trading player/pick. Essentially we paid a lot to undue last years free agency to get to this 1. We also have more money for Robinson

Meanwhile I predicted we wouldn't draft Jalen Williams and BRIGGS would lose his s*** as he does every year

gradyandrew @ 6/24/2022 3:33 AM
My prediction two days ago was that the Knicks would trade down in the draft to open up more money for free agency.
blkexec @ 6/24/2022 7:46 AM
My prediction is the FO and Thibs can not survive another failed season.
Chandler @ 6/24/2022 8:31 AM

and up here in Boston A.Nesmith is riding pine wondering when he turns into the next Glen Rice or whoever Briggs comped him too

ANd Ilinois Center Cockburn is hoping for an UDFA call though Briggs loved him

Busting balls primarily because of Briggs's gloating, but it was a good call, and if Williams delivers we'll never hear the end of it

No gloating--if u find anyone on the Internet who made the call the Knicks were gonna make and the subsequent draft pick the Thunder were gonna make---if you find the same post--I mean anywhere ill give u 10k in cash. This was extreme due diligence that brought me to that conclusion. Also there was a plethora of teams trying to get Williams--it wasnt one shot in the dark by Presti---I knew before the draft he was going higher than Vegas had him 15.5 that was an easy money bet. But as a team we couldve simply had Willimas and we bet against teams like Oklahoma San Antonio Memphis etc.. so we will see.
The Knick wouldve taken Johnny Davis or Matherin NOT SHARPE he wouldve been moved it was Davis Mathurin or trade pick.

i won't bust your chops more but it is kind of funny when you say i'm not gloating but i'm the only one on internet who made the call (in the same sentence). Again all in good fun, and it was an amazing call

i do want to comment on the betting against the OKC, SAS, Grizzlies etc. For references i'm including links to their draft histories. Far far from perfect, and one can argue where would any of these teams have been but for picks like Duncan, Durant, and Ja. OKC in particular had a spectacular run 2007-9 with three future MVPs but no title to show for it.

I don't see why passing on Williams was betting against all of those clubs.

Thoughts on trade and outlook going forward?

Briggs went savage and you can't handle it. Is it too hot to handle but too cold to hold?

As Bette Midler would say - Briggs is the wind beneath your wings. Don't be a hater.

I wasn't a fan of the tiers around where the Knicks were drafting at 11. They could have picked the same range of guys at 16-17 that they would have picked at 11.

I think 3 firsts for the 11 wasn't a bad deal. It was a good deal. Aller has a relationship with OKC through his time in Cleveland.

I don't agree with the move to trade to dump Walker's contract. I didn't agree with signing Walker in the first place but I wasn't posting back when that happened. I didn't like any of the signings/resignings last off season. I was bigger believer in "renting" the cap space out ( i.e. taking in picks or young players to eat a bad contract) instead of reupping Rose, Burks and Noel. I wanted the Knicks to wait on Randle for another year.

I like Bryce McGowan, but he wasn't value for slot at 11 by a long shot. I think Walker Kessler could have helped this team and will do better than many are going to project out.

I don't see this as a particularly strong draft, so I don't blame Brock Aller for trading out. And to be fair, he had to try to clean up some of the messes that Leon Rose made.

What Detroit is doing is much better but it's going to hurt a little more to start. Knicks should have just let their young guys play last year and not signed those veterans, more in the vein of the Pistons rebuild. Knicks made a mistake that Golden State did not make when they were under massive pressure to resign Carl Landry and Jarrett Jack when they were able to get into the playoffs after a long long long drought. Had the Warriors done that, the pathway to Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Durant, Wiggins and all the rest was probably not possible, etc, etc.

Brock Aller needs full control of this team. That's one thing I can say for certain. Leon Rose is clearly clouded by nepotism and his cronies at this point.

What do you think about the trade and outlook? I'd like to hear your thoughts as well.

Yup, I've warmed up to the trades. I'm okay with the first one. 3 1sts that will most likely convey is good value than picking someone late lottery who isn't worth it. The Kemba trade I actually like a little better. We have 3 good picks for 2023(Ours, Dallas, Det 2nd) and the Denver pick was definitely going to convey around mid 20s, so it made sense to swap it with the Bucks 2025 pick while freeing up cap space. I would have loved it even more if we got rid of more contracts but it will do.

All signs point towards a strong pursuit of a B tier guard with Brunson's name at the top. I feel like based on playoffs alone Brunson would make this team better. 25 mil is a steep cost but the upside is that we have more draft assets to get our #1 guy. It may also be worthwhile to rent our cap space for additional draft assets.
