Honestly I thought this was a no boo birds night and then I realized what we were doing a few hours before draft and hoped I was wrong. Nope
Simply the Knicks believe they are smarter than every other club in the nba. We do not use any formula— it’s throw it against the wall and let’s go.
Since we got Brock Eller we are only interested in flipping picks around and making nutso free agency moves.
There’s no conventional thought process — no rhyme or reason and the bottom line is one playoff victory in 22 years. Is a fan wrong to be constantly disappointed in what’s been decades of simple failure. You invest your time and effort into your team and it returns little. And you’re stuck with it. There’s no divorce in sports.
Ahhh BRIGGS, divorce happens all the time. We've had people leave because Melo was given a near max contract. We've had people come and go during and after Linsanity.
Nobody's really stuck. There's always available seats on other bandwagons. You've got 9 teams out of 30 that have won a chip in the past 20 years. I couldn't be paid to truly give a shit about any one of them. Some people can be paid in fake self esteem.
I doubt Leon and crew think they're smarter than everyone else. They probably do think they're smart though. I would imagine they actually are, given the jobs they've managed to get. I mean, even Phil was smart, albeit in a way that was a decade or two out of date.
We signed a free agent that was one of the best 3 point shooters in the league. Hardly nutso. Hey, so Kemba was a swing and miss. It happens. And even that bloodfart had a few nice moments.
We're not stuck. We're Knicks fans. Where would you rather be?

No divorce in sports. You pick a team somehow when you’re 2-5 and that’s your cards.
All in all when you need lottery picks to get rid of your swing and a miss mistakes in the nba— you probably shouldn’t have taken the swing. We honestly went in hard free agency last year and let’s be honest— it was a mediocre outcome at best. So as a fan I’m gonna go negative nelly for 24-48 hours than I have to get back to being hopeful and loyal. But a Knick fan who was let down last night— I’d say give them fair latitude to be perplexed/mad/disappointed for a bit.
Seems to me the plan is very straight forward. Get Brunson and continue to kick the can down the road until a star demands a trade and those draft picks are flipped for that star.

thats not a plan.
Thats a next move and a lot of hope. If there was a plan Kemba wouldnt have needed to be traded.
Brunson isnt a plan. Its after 3 years we dont have shit to show for it so lets spend big for a high floor (and low ceiling) player who will surely help right away and distract from the fact that it further locks us into mediocrity and a commitment to a guy who isnt in the top 10 of his position in the same conference.
They made 80 deals to end up with a Brunson/RJ/Randle "big 3" and two of those guys were already here

Fish? Brunson is all of that, but to me, he helps answer the RJ question - which is, can he get better? Resigning RJ will potentially lock us in to mediocrity. Brunson is only a swing at mediocrity!

There's a good max player in RJ. A 6'6
SG who can bull doze to the rim and shoot 40% from 3 and guard a ton of guys. We have only seen that in stretches but they have been long enough to hope the consistency gets there. Or maybe he's Wiggins and basically overpaid until 5 years from now when some other good team wins a chip with him. Who knows
Brunson is a really good BB player, but he's probably the 10th best starting PG... in the conference next year. That's not the guy you build your whole offseason around but hey

YES! I am all for making a deal happen, I would not have moved out of the draft altogether to do it. If Super Agent Rose can't make a FA deal happen with our expiring's as we had and some draft picks - like Dallas and a bunch of seconds, then, yea, we already overpaid. Getting him for money alone is the only way adding him really made sense.
It's not that bad bro.
Making the playoffs was a surprise and if not for injuries we may have made the playoffs again. For once the Knicks are holding on to young talent and maybe if they sign Brunson the team takes another step in the right direction.
RJ turned it on after the New Year and he could very well turn into a superstar.
