Knicks · Proposed Trade - Randle to Houston (page 1)

EwingsGlass @ 6/26/2022 3:03 PM
Won’t lie, most of this is based on my absolute desire to get Tari Eason. I look at the Rockets roster and they might need to do a little consolidation. Obviously they have Smith at PF to pair with Jalen Green, but I think a guy like Randle who is known for his work ethic might be special - help show those youth how to practice. He goes back to his hometown and probably knocks Sengun out of the starting lineup as the starting center.

I could see a move of Randle for Eric Gordon, rights to Tari Eason and TyTy Washington. Gordon gets to play with Rose at long last. Eason I think will be special in the NBA. At the least, we interfere with Boston trading for him. Heard they are offering Payton Pritchard for him. TyTy gets to compete for PG role. He probably needs some time to acclimate to the NBA.

While we need to consolidate, I think moving Randle makes a lot of sense. I don’t know how you tell the fans to shut the f—- up and come back from that. I don’t think he gets to be boss again here in NY. Might as well get him out of Toppin’s way.

Agreed that we should move Randle this summer, but doubt the Rockets would do it. They seem to be committed to rebuilding and developing their young players. Keep in mind, they allowed Wall to languish on the bench in street clothes all season, despite him being the best pg option on the team. Can't see them bringing in Randle which might create a log jam and take away mins from Sengun and perhaps Smith.

Not sure how much the front office values Randle, but we will never get the return this front office thinks we should get if we move him. To me, moving him is addition by subtraction.

Randle telling fans to shut phuck up are same fans wishing randle to get covid when he had covid in january.

Feels like Houston is trying to recreate the Obi-Randle situation for Jabari smith? They just moved Woods just to help with whomever they picked at #3.

Bledsoe on roster with Fournier, Grimes, Burks, RJ maybe doesn't make so much sense?

martin @ 6/26/2022 3:59 PM
Oh, here is one nugget I did not know:

This is part of the OKC incoming portion. Essentially, Houston will want to tank and be in top 4 next year or lose their pick. They will tank HARD.

2024 first round draft pick from Houston
Houston's 2024 1st round pick to Oklahoma City protected for selections 1-4; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Houston will instead convey its 2024 2nd round pick and 2025 2nd round pick to Oklahoma City [Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/16/2019]

Gordon, not Bledsoe. Huge difference. I have him slotted into the second until next to Rose. I am not huge on Fournier and not as sold on Grimes as many of you.

I think the Woods trade was as much about moving Woods as it was about creating space for Sengun. I’m not a huge fan of Sengun either.

I think the thing that makes it palatable is that Houston doesn’t have a center over 6’9 on the roster.

I like Randle but it feels like he needs another fresh start.

Wow....And of course OKC would be the team to benefit from this...l

Yeah I mean Gordon.

Let's say the Knicks start RJ, Fournier and Rose is the PG off the bench. How do you substantiate trading, playing, and giving minutes to a 33 year old guys versus Grimes, IQ, and Burks who are on the roster? It just doesn't make sense to sit IQ, Grimes purposely.

Interesting. I didn’t know that either. Why buy out Wall then?

To save a few $mil? It's the same as keeping him on the roster and not playing?

I don’t think a move like this is the end of wheeling and dealing. I’m not altogether sold on many of these guys. I think of Gordon exactly the same way as I do Derrick Rose. He has limited years left but the right attitude on how to play the game. Eventually any young player will need to beat him out for playing time, but a vet unit of Rose, Gordon, Burks, Gibson, Noel would hold its own vs most other lineups we are currently throwing out there.

Roster spot also, I guess.

If Leon Rose really was the Knicks president, he would have Fired COY Thibs, and never gave all-star Randle an extension in a COVID empty stadium season after Randles performance in the playoffs. Plus Fournier & Kemba never would have put on a Knicks Jersey.
Leon Rose (No comments) seems to be the Face & Name of the Knicks organization .. After the Knicks 2021-22 season the so-call all star Randle ($25M per cancer), and Fournier ($18M per cancer) should've been traded asap to a team under the cap on draft night to give the Knicks financial flexibility in the FA market (not $9M Kemba).

Yeah you have to tank hard if thats the end result. Go from 1-4 to 2- 2nd round picks.

Somebody has to want those players. I knew Fournier was a disaster from day 1
