Knicks · What about Mitch? (page 1)

I guess we can go over the cap to sign him but it just seems like we aren’t done. With Mitch and an extended Barrett we’d be pretty cap screwed again. Something else is up.

Donovan Mitchell in play?

3rd team facilitator in a Bklyn/Pho 3 way deal. Rumor is Bklyn doesn’t want Ayton

He goes to nets and Durant hangs with Tom Cruise the scientologists in Utah.
They everywhere.

Let him gooooooooo.

I am not on the Robinson camp and feel the Knicks will regret signing him long term.

My buddy text me and said Miami is offering Duncan, Herro and a handful of draft picks for Donovan Mitchell. Not sure where he got this info from.

Miami insider first came with the report I’d have to find the tweet

If Brunson is everything Knicks fans tell me he is, well then Mitchell Robinson should become even more of a beast down low with a true PG and also an even bigger freak once on the fast break; now that he's got an elite PG talent in Brunson.

Agree. Now that we finally have a pick and roll maestro, why wouldn't you want the best finisher in the league?

If I understand the numbers correctly we are about 7 mil short on the money to sign him. Taj would have to be let go and Mitch's contract looks to be in the 14-15 mil range. Which is the right number for a player like him. What I like about our front office is that the contracts we give out are all tradable: Randle,Burks, Noel, Fournier and now Brunson. I fully expect that trend to continue with Mitch

This is Mitch on FA day. Not a care in the world and not doing meetings with other teams. In my opinion, this means his extension is done but he is just watching for the Knicks to take care of all the business that they do to take care of before he officially signs.

I hope so. I think Mitch might be my favorite Knick- seems like such a nice kid.
Philc1 @ 7/1/2022 6:50 AM
We got Brunson and Hartenstein now pay the man

In December

Hopefully Randle's head is good and he plays some team ball. Brunson/RJ/Randle/Mitch with some chemistry could be a good start. Its a good young core with room to grow, young developing role players and no albatros contracts attached to players hitting 30 or after that

I'm not a big Mitch fan. I do not like the idea of spending money on the Center position - the least most important position in basketball today imo - unless that guy is a star or someone who is durable and contribute to both sides of the floor.

I honestly do not think having Mitch over a Hartenstein/Sims combo makes that much of a difference or moves the needle at all. I also have a bad feeling Mitch is one of those guys who can 'Randle' us after getting the bag. Really hope I'm wrong and Mitch goes onto that next Tyson Chander/Camby level but I don't see it.

Congrats to Mitch!

But Mitch, after your swim… please put up a few hundred free throws!

He just needs to learn free throws. I have been saying that for years now

$15m per year for Mitch is not exhorbitant. A far cry from the mammoth deals bestowed back in the days on Hassan Whiteside and Andre Drummond, with whom Mitch compares well. I think Mitch will easily be better than Camby or Chandler with more experience. He is already better than Chandler was at his age, and has a more solid NBA physique than Cambyman to be more effective at the center position.

I like that we have a trio of big men in Mitch/Hartenstein/Sims, there were stretches last year when size was a problem for us and Taj just wasn't enough.

MaTT4281 @ 7/1/2022 2:14 PM
Mitch breaks the curse!

Very happy with this deal. Would have gone a little higher if it had been the difference maker. Mitch saves a ton of possessions for us. I believe his absence would have really been felt next season with guys who like to drive, RJ, Brunson, even Quick started going inside more at the end of last season.

As long as either Mitch or Obi is on the floor, we have to be looking for a healthy balance with pick and rolls. Feed the big men!

NYKMentality @ 7/1/2022 3:51 PM
I'm so excited over keeping Mitchell Robinson.

I was having nightmares about just the thought of him escaping NY and going to a team with an elite PG before becoming a Perennial All-Star.

If Brunson is everything Knicks fans are telling me he is as a pure PG and floor general?

Mitchell Robinson will FEAST down low and also on the fast break.

Awesome Rebounder ✔️

Great Defender @ Protecting the rim ✔️

Untapped Offensive Potential alongside of an elite PG ✔️
