Any issues with Nets is just as much on Joe Tsai as anyone. The big contracts are done with owners blessing so lets not pretend otherwise.
Precovid and pre Morey w/Rockets he was making a play for nets deep run and those games being promoted in China and he making a business decision.
China balking at NBA precovid and then the pandemic put a damper on it. Then Kyrie doing Kyrie things.
In my mind Kyrie flacked out and the only path back given they gave away the picks is to trade Durant. Durant might have been vocal to change the public narrative.

If the rumors of what the Nets are asking are true, they aren't trading him...the latest rumor (RUMOR) I saw was they wanted Towns, Edwards, and 4 first round picks. They wanted Booker, Bridges, Johnson and multiple picks from the Suns. I heard they wants Scottie Barnes plus much more from the Raptors.
Some of these leaked packages are unimaginable for a 33 year old with a growing injury history, who is not afraid to quit on a team with years on his contract if the wind doesn't blow his way.

None more lowly than OKC were he established a global brand. I thought he did more sponserships prior to his stint in GSW.

I have been hoping Portland uses Bledsoe's non guaranteed contract Sharpe and Anfernee Simmons in a sign and trade for Durant but it looks like it won't happen.

Still think Toronto and Pelicans are the simplest and make the most sense- Toronto can offer a nice player or two plus picks, and the Pelicans can offer the best package Ingram (can even throw in one of their young players) plus even more picks. Issue would be can they persuade KD to be okay going to one of those two teams. Pelicans would be interesting with Zion and KD.
Would Celtics be willing to give enough?
Detroit would be an interesting place, if the Pistons could keep Cade Cunningham.

Seems a lot simpler just to fire Sean Marks. I don't think any of this was a problem until he decided to "I'm the boss" to Kyrie. He was the one who caved to Harden and traded him to his dream destination. Any complaining about player over empowerment has to start from there. KD schooled Embiid in Philadelphia and Simmons still dogged it. It's an open question of whether Ben even plays again. KD is smart enough to know you can't be competitive with an albatross max salary on the books.
Besides, what did it cost Marks to say "of course we value Kyrie's input on our team. He and KD are the rocks that we built this team on." Money talks. There's a reason Kyrie and KD make multiples of what Marks does. Plus this petty shit of firing who ever it was that KD had brought into the organization. Just terrible, terrible management. Look at how loaded the Clippers have become by just agreeing with each of Kawhi and George's demands.
KD especially has for years been on record saying people who play the game no more than those who don't. Why do you think Jerry West and Pat Riley have been the most successful executives in league history? KD is right, after 3 years Marks is still clueless on how Kyrie thinks, something KD probably figured out about 5 minutes after they met.
If KD goes to the Heat, it will be interesting to see if LeBron re-ups, or goes to Miami. Forms another superteam with KD, to end his career.
LeBron is a billionaire now. He might take a discount to create the right conditions for a few years of contention with KD. Also loves LA, but Miami would probably be an easy move for James, and his family.
