Oh, too funny. I was just watching a bunch of videos on Walker and thought he would be the perfect fit off the bench for Knicks in Obi's spot. He is definitely a top 10 type draftee

He’s a good player. Definitely out of our draft range. Kris Murray would be a nice backup forward in place of Obi though.

of course, the most "superstars" are picks #1 to 6. There can be superstars found 7 to 60, but lower likelihood. Once you get outside of the lotto, like picks 15 to 25ish, it's really fit and need for the most part. Pick 26 onward are all about the same - who is available and who fits. We've done well finding talent there - late first round through the second round. There is talent, but it's pretty even. Then, it's about development - how do you develop that talent.

This explains the difficulty teams have in trading up in to the lottery. Unless a team is in love with a player slotted later, you really have to impress them with a package. That's why the Ivey talks with Detroit proved unfruitful.

Knicks have also done a great job taking advantage by moving back a few slots and picking up extra future picks. It seems like a bunch of teams will have multiple first round picks, Indiana Rockets Magic Blazers Nets and Rockets I think. I have a lot of confidence that Leon and Brock will be working the phones on draft night to make some good news.

One other thing, protected 1st round picks seem like pretty good currency for GMs hoping to keep their jobs. There's not a huge downside to the franchise but teams get the optics of landing a big haul for a player even though it's not liked they will land as good of a player. The Hart deal is a good example. Portland backed themselves into another mediocre season with more poorly executed trades and signings but now they get to say "see we got Cam and a pick." This is easier than admitting what everyone knows, you can't pair Lillard with a similarly undersized guard.

Taylor Hendricks is the perfect forward for this team. He’s the anti Obi Toppin. He can shoot threes, plays D, blocks shots, rebounds and can play either forward position.

However he’s also the anti Knicks pick- he’s a small school player and a one and done. Doesn’t fit the team’s draft track record.

The players who do fit: Jordan Hawkins. He’s a knock down shooter and big school player. Upper classman and CAA client. He’s a Quickey/ grimes type prospect. Kris Murray is the other one. He’s a good shooter and rebounder. Should be an instant contributor. Plays 2 positions. Anything can happen but these are the guys right now I would put money on one of them drafted to the Knicks.

This draft was so hyped at the top. The top 2 seem rightfully hyped. Beyond them, the top performing freshman college player Miller is now in a lot of trouble. The Thompson twins are both struggling with shooting. No other college freshman has emerged. A few have been hurt. The talk was this draft had potentially 6-7 franchise players. Now it seems like just the 2 at the top, and then the teams picking 3 and after will have more questions than answers. Like any draft, guys will emerge, but it seems like the value will once again be in the middle as opposed to the top. Part of the reason so few teams are going to extremes to tank is because right now there’s only 2 guys to tank for.

Didn't mean to say OJ wasn't an NBA player. But he never reached the superstardom predicted for has the #3 overall pick. He was also considered by many to be the #1 freshman going into his class. OJ was really advanced for his age, especially in the mid range. But the lack of athletic pop and his size kind of relegated him to fringe starter, sixth-man territory. He couldn't finish at the rim all that well and his point guard skills never really developed. It's hard to contribute consistently as a tough shot maker when you're 6'2". I see a lot of that in Bronny. I think Bronny will make the NBA, but this tanking is probably too high.

I don't follow HS players but the impression I've had for James for a while is he was a margin basketball talent who might get a cup of coffee in the NBA to get access to hid dad for a season or two.

If the guy has any career post-Lebron that'd be pretty impressive.

My picks in order. I’m considering past pick 15. If we have higher I’d have other picks

#1 trayce jackson davis. I think he has a chance to be an nba all star frontcourt player
#2 Jordan hawkins. His 3 point shot w feet set is best in draft burgeoning drive game willing defender/ rebounder tough confidant wants to be good w talent
#3 Marcus sasser. Iq clone tough fits current nba 3-d versatile

2nd rd tavieon Kinsey hybrid pg. athletic very good all around player excellent long defender lengthy. Can put him in at pg at 6-5
