Hawkins is a great option for me. For Jackson-Davis we can trade back or buy into the second round.

Hawkins is a great option for me. For Jackson-Davis we can trade back or buy into the second round.

If I had pick 7 in the draft I’d take Jackson davis. So any other position is a no brainer

Seems like some of the rankings are really settling in a bit. I really like Hawkins, Kris Murray and Colby Jones in our range for what this team needs.

I don’t think we have a 2nd this year - including any from Detroit. Hope I’m wrong checked. Few sites and didn’t see one.

Right, the 2nd Knicks have from Detroit is for 2024.

Wemba's teammate shows a lot of potential. The offense needs some developing, but I like the defensive aggressiveness. I'm also team Maxwell Lewis. I think Kris Murray is probably the safest pick around the area we're picking. I wouldn't be surprised if Thibs saw Council and went to sleep imagining things he could do to this young 3xplosive knees.

I found this paragraph from theringer interesting.

Trayce Jackson davis is one of those guys like a Brunson or jimmy butler who plays 4 years of college. Dominates improves yet is discounted in the draft. My take is he’s going to be an nba star front court player and ready to go from day 1. I read that he was 1/3 players in the last 40 years to avg 25-10-3-3

sounds like a second rounder. We have so many average to slightly above average guys. we need superstars.

of course, the most "superstars" are picks #1 to 6. There can be superstars found 7 to 60, but lower likelihood. Once you get outside of the lotto, like picks 15 to 25ish, it's really fit and need for the most part. Pick 26 onward are all about the same - who is available and who fits. We've done well finding talent there - late first round through the second round. There is talent, but it's pretty even. Then, it's about development - how do you develop that talent.

Every other team with a lot of picks moved stars for those unprotected picks and are rebuilding. A majority of these “unremarkable picks” have long tails on them, tying up other teams picks until they convert. It’s unlike the pick the Knicks just sent to Portland, which would convert to second round picks this year if it doesn’t convert. The protections on the Detroit, Washington and Dallas picks remain assets for many years until they convert. The writer has an opinion that lacks context.

Knicks also do really well with these picks. They really scout these guys well and have done a fantastic job fleshing out this roster with guys drafted late. IQ/Grimes/Sims/McBride have all really helped a couple are surely long term fits if they dont get used in a big trade.

That doesnt include Brunson/Mitch who are both 2nd rounder (not drafted by this FO)

The FO has a real nose for "guys who can play" and that's what keeps me pretty excited about having these extra picks. Lets us make trades using our picks and ensures we are still in the draft and can continue to supplement the roster

This explains the difficulty teams have in trading up in to the lottery. Unless a team is in love with a player slotted later, you really have to impress them with a package. That's why the Ivey talks with Detroit proved unfruitful.
