I’m buying his scoring upside but yeah his playmaking is going to need to really improve lol he dosent pass at all it seems
He'll fit right in in the RJ role
Too soon?
Yeah, we'll swap one erratic 3 point shooter for another. I'd say good Cam's chances of being on the opening night roster are slightly better than mine tho
Kidding aside, if I'm the Knicks FO and they do have pick in the 11-14 range, I'd do a lot to move up to draft this kid. IMO he is a bigger, more skill version of Josh Hart who has a much higher ceiling.
I don’t want to jump back in too deep until Dallas gets the 11th pick, but other than Cam, I think both Cason Wallace and Taylor Hendricks really fit what the Knicks typically go for.
I think Anthony Black could also fit. I see a lot of similarities with Hart in terms of what he could potentially bring to the team.

OK....This is the first time I've seen or heard about this guy. After watching the beginning of the clip, when they got to defense, I only needed to see a few highlights. Didn't have to watch the entire clip and I'm sold already. These the type of guys we need on this team. I definitely see a combination of IQ and Hart. I have a strong feeling this draft will make Deuce even more expendable. But as with Deuce, everybody looks great in college, until they step on the NBA court. But from what I saw in this clip (never seen him play a full game which is important), he looks like a solid pickup. Someone Thibs would love to have off the bench. And if we decided to trade some of our yoots for a superstar, he's a nice replacement option.

Would you trade IQ if we land a superstar plus this guy? I love IQ, but a championship is the ultimate goal. And if trading IQ brings us a chip, you have to do it. Solid draft. Would suck if we have no picks, but wouldn't be the end of the world.

Depends on the star coming back but my preference would be to draft him and skip the star. This guy fits on this team and getting him onboard gives the team some flexibility in deals while keeping the defensive pipeline/emerging offensive pattern going. They tried to get a resource in last year with Keels but that was more like a moonshot.
I felt similarly last year with Jaylen williams ( sorry briggs to remind you that I found him first), who I thought could do enough to make the knicks think twice about signing RJ long term. But then again that was pre brunson so all kinds things could have disrupted that timeline and we could be looking at a very different team.
What sets Jaylen apart from Wallace, at this point, ( and RJ for that matter) was playmaking. Besides being able to defend his position, we need another guy who moves the ball so others do the same and we end up with good shots. We can never have enough and that is the direction I hope we go when dallas finally sends us those ping pong balls.

Only going off these clips but I don’t see the quickness with the ball, breaking down d, creating for others or creativity getting his own offense — looks methodical.
The name that popped into my head right or wrong was Pat Bev.

I don't see Josh Hart. Cam is definitely more offensive minded and the playmaking isn't there. Defense also needs to pick up. Right now, I see a more athletic Tobias Harris. Still a good player if his ceiling pans out.
Smaller, less punchy version of Miles Bridges?

I've seen that comparison before. I think Cam and Miles are about the same size. It works.

Short ramble:
Are we sure we see IQ in Cason Wallace? IQ was a more polished shooter coming out of college, though Wallace was a better defender by what I’ve research. Idk, I’ve thought more about the prospects in this draft and Im not sure what role offensively Wallace would play for us. Also Dicks defense isn’t as good as I thought apparently.
Right now the only 5 guys who look like surefire cornerstone pieces are: Wemby Scott Miller Hendricks Whitmore
The lack of of playmaking kinda scares me with Whitmore but I’m really looking towards him for now. I don’t like those Thompson twins.

Here's a 34 page thread that is going to amount to zilch.

Could trade in...
Knixkik@ 4/9/2023 10:24 AM
I wouldn’t be surprised if we traded into the 2nd round, especially with the 3rd 2-way spot with the new CBA.

Could trade for one of these guys a few years from now or pick one up from the waiver wire. A few of these guys may decide to stay in college another year. I think these exercises aren't only for the current draft class, but the following years.

Just used Tankarhon 3 times, the Dallas pick fell to the Knicks 2xs. Didn't pay attention to which teams moved up, but league may want to give teams who tried to win a bounce up and tanking teams a step back. I think the lottery is rigged so let's hope

Handing Bulls the 4th pick to punish Dallas would be a hell of a thing. As depicted in another thread, I’d prefer League send Dallas to back of the lotto line, thus the pick conveys. Its a reasonable punishment.

Make it so!
nyvector16@ 4/10/2023 11:32 AM
Or Dallas lose a 2nd rounder which would go to Knicks as compensation for 1st rnder tomfoolery...
Rookie@ 4/10/2023 12:00 PM
I like this take
What is the punishment for tanking? The NBA and Adam Silver have considered “relegation” as a punishment for tanking teams, where two of the worst NBA teams would be demoted to the G-League and two of the best G-League teams would be put in the NBA..
However reality is that there are no rules for tanking. I would expect another fine to the Mavericks for tanking and a tongue lashing is all that is possible under current rules.
Nalod@ 4/10/2023 12:47 PM
One would have to think there have been warnings not make public about this. Cuban may be arrogant and and not as smart as he thinks running his team but if he is defying the rules there will be repercussions. My guess is a Hefty fine he thinks is worth it. I think he gave up when league blew his the end of game vs. Warriors. He appealed. It was denied. He then wore a shirt “question authority” in the aftermath. Then he clearly defied the tank protocols. Whats next? Silver is not lord and god. There is a discipline committee among owners. A process. Dolan does dolan have a voice here? He kind of got screwed.
