i watched a lot of SL. Josh Minott looked every bit of a lottery pick because hes 6-8 can handle the rock like a guard and 3 level scorer. Very bouncy and we missed him by 2 picks. I thought our guy Keels was one of the worst players drafted that I watched. While he made a few plays boy does he NOT look like an nba player slow no bounce looked slightly overwhelmed by speed of game. Im not sure where we can use him or if he just gets cut.
ah yes... the first summer league game and the talent always shows itself

They did work Minott out, flipside I agree on Keels but in theory they are probably going to spend this season getting him into shape.
Keels had a 1st round projection throughout the year but I agree that Minott is a player.

Keels looks overweight. I am not even mad he is playing bad because they need to put him in the weight room and get him in shape for next year’s summer league. Based on the overall roster, his young age, and where he was picked. You have to expect a certain amount of development.

Keels rep out of HS was as an outstanding shooter - that didn’t translate freshman year at Duke but the shot itself looks fine. He is underrated passer with vision off the bounce — would not count him out like many did after Grimes 1st game last year and 1st half last night.
Minott has that long lean NBA prototype body but careful because if he went 2nd round — at least 30 teams passed on him.
I am expecting Keels to be a project. So I am not expecting much this season from him. If he shows us anything it is icing on the cake. Next year is when real expectations for improvements start to come for him. Take this year to work on his body, his mental and his game.
Keels needs to get in tip top shape or he won't make it. Luckily he is 18 and has time.
Keels or about any rook was likely not going to see the time of day unless they way outperformed their draft spot.
Keels showed some things in run to the final 4 and will have to work on his body to get a chance for a good career. As our roster stands unless there is a trade he is gleague bound. Its what its there for.
How is an 18 y.o. trying to make the jump to the nba let himself get this out of shape? This raises a lot of questions. He should have gone back to school for another year. Makes me wonder if he likes the nba lifestyle more than the work. I have zero expectations for this kid. I doubt he ever plays in the league
I find it ironic that his quotes from the article in the Post today is all about how the coaches he has had have pushed him.
“I love a coach that’s going to get on you, make sure you play hard,” he said. “Defense is really important. Playing for Coach K, he was big on that. My high school coach [and] my AAU coach [were the same], so I always played for a coach who is going to get into you. I love coaches like that. I love tackling challenges.”
I’m not sure he’s that out of shape. Let’s see how he plays today and going forward. He just didn’t have the look of an nba player. Ken lifting is high in body fat and he’s been a dominant sl player. Let’s just hope we see something more today.
Joh minnott. He’s impressive looking because he’s a legit bouncy 6-8 who can shoot handle pass rebound. He was just two picks away from us. He kind of looks the part of a second rd steal
You guys need to take it easy. I remember 4 years ago Kevin Knox looked fantastic in summer league and Dennis Smith Jr looked like a young Chris Paul
Just sayin…..
Minnot today in 29 minutes.
2-7 and 7 points, 5 rb’s, 0 assists, 5 to’s and 7 fouls

I can still hear Stephen A’s tantrum that we picked KP over him.

Not ready to say he will never play in the NBA, but deciding to come out after 1 yr and not be in great shape is kind of odd, and perhaps alarming. If he had been injured, you could give him a break, but guys frequently get into better shape than they were in college in the months leading up to the draft...working with trainers to improve their BB skills, and also their physical shape.

He could have work ethic issues but let’s see what happens. He’s a two-way player so they got him with the understanding they would need to develop him.
