You give up your downside protection as well for 5-6 years
It’s so NOT worth it
Forget all the assets too. We don’t need Mitchell! We have Brunson?????
You could run the same analysis of Randle and Fournier for Westbrook and a 2027 pick from LAL and I might be on board without giving up so much youth. I think that Obi lines up better next to Brunson anyway. I'd probably still want to give up some youth for a 3&D SF, but I don't really want IQ and Grimes hanging out in the East.
Brunson/Rose
IQ/McBride
Barrett/Grimes
Toppin/Reddish
Robinson/Hart
I think you have room for addition by subtraction here even if you just cut Westbrook.
That starting lineup would be concerning. Especially if IQ and RJ have the type of first halves they had last year. Adding Obi who can't shoot and is a terrible pairing with Mitch, who essentially only scores in the same manner, would be a mistake. Imho. Not to mention that some are forgetting that it will be tough for Brunson to repeat what he did last year on a larger sample size and with many more expectations. Not to mention, in a much bigger market.
Also do not see any chance that Rose is okay with presenting the Knick fans with that lineup.
DM is exactly what Rose wants the next step to be. A step above fielding a bunch of hopefuls and unproven. Which is what we have fielded since the end of the Melo era.

Would love to hear your opinion of the Knicks lineup with Randle and Fournier still in it. I don’t think the flaws in the Knicks lineup are solved by Randle or Fournier. The Knicks problems are most likely to be solved by ball movement.
If I read between the lines sounds like after the Donovan trade, they will trade some combination of Randle a player for Westbrook.
So move IQ out of the starting lineup and replace with Spida.
JB / Rose
Spida / IQ
RJ / Grimes
Obi / Cam
Mitch

Looks great, but how we getting Mitchell without giving up any of RJ, IQ, Obi, Grimes, or Cam?

Yeah sorry………Grimes and Cam will be gone. Not sure if the lakers take both Randle and EF for Westbrook
I would like to hold onto IQ and Obi buy giving them more picks maybe 6 if you include some second round picks?

Please, no Westbrook. Where has it worked?
Here's the real hard hitting question? What if Mitchell is just being used as bait to facilitate the homecoming we're all waiting for?
That's 4ight,vthe return of the French Prince! Spida and Frank are close and I think Frank would definitely consider coming back if the Utah trade goes through. Thoughts?!?!?
The key contributor averaged 1.9 points on 33% shooting and 30% from three in the playoffs.
Like I've said, a turd.

This is beautiful, and really something only the Knicks could pull off! Sign a guy to a 4 year contract, then look to trade in salary dump BEFORE THE CONTRACT EVEN STARTED!
That's really record level incompetence. Kudos.

Westbrook is an expiring contract and it’s probably our only legit shot at getting rid of Randle’s contract. Problem is the lakers know Randle very well and likely have no interest

And yet he’s still in the nba and in a championship contender’s rotation. Unlike Dennis Smith Jr and Elf

Agree about EF in there. Stated on another thread what my optimum lineup would be:
DM, Brunson, RJ, Randle and Mitch with
IQ, Grimes, Cam, Hartenstein and Sims in the second unit. But understand it's a long shot.
Okay with trading Obi, Rose, Deuce, Keels, Roka, Cam and EF.
and picks. However, signs have pointed to Ainge wanting much more. As well as no interest in RJ.
Also, do not see them wanting EF. Maybe a third team does but still okay if EF has to stay. which means it is more probable that the starting line up looks more like this if we do get DM:
Brunson
DM
RJ
Randle
Mitch
Second:
IQ
EF
?(Hunt, Jeffries, Give back from Jazz?)
Hart
Sims
Which I am fine with and feel would do much better than the one you suggested we stick to.

Westbrook is probably bought out in this scenario...

Yes they trade 1 to dump 2. Basically dumping Westbrick and Randle. This opens the PF for Obi. Hopefully with Miami out, Ainge is forced to accept what we give him, just to save face. I wouldn’t be surprised if DM has already scoped out a place to live.
Did you guys hear about DM caught a body at a Chris Brinkley run? DMitch told the number 1 pick, welcome to the NBA? We need this at the garden ASAP.
Brunson
Spida
RJ
Obi
Mitch
Rose and EF leading a second unit of vets and gleaguers.
Everybody will now be in their comfort zone.
Rose doesn’t want to start. EF wants to play a more all around offense game and not just catch and shoot or wait in the corner for a pass.
I think with or without DMitch, future of the Knicks is looking good either way.
Danny Ainge's coke dealer must be a billionaire by now.

Instead of sending out Randle after the trade - why not make it a 3 team deal?
NY gets Donovan Mitchell, Westbrook (bought out)
LAL gets Randle, Rose and Cam Reddish
Utah gets Fournier, Grimes, Talen Horton-Tucker and 6 1st rounders (3 unprotected)
LAL - gets vet PG in Rose, perfect 6th man in Randle, sheds Westbrook contract, wanted Cam before, don't sacrifice additional 1st round
Utah - gets their 6 picks, Grimes and by taking Horton-Tucker they get another young talent with 1 year left on deal
NY - save IQ and Obi, get out from under Randle contract, Westbrook can be bought out
This seems to very logically work for all 3 teams - better then doing two separate deals IMO. Who says no?
