Many times I felt he would purposely try to make up stuff (especially when things were getting good) to try to create controversy and drama. I think it's a big reason why the media is not welcomed at the Garden and I truthfully do not blame them.
But Berman was probably instructed by his paper to sell papers so his replacement will try to do the same so whatever. Wish him the best.

He didn't even need to be told, it is literally his job to sell paper and get clicks

Seems true of many sports reporters working for the NY Post, IMO.

Zach Braziller, who I had some contact with when he was working for the Queens Courier doing HS sports, seems to be less provocative than other NY Post reporters. I hope he isn't "corrupted," and emerges as a more rational & less sensational reporter covering the Knicks.

yeah but did Berman ever really cover the Knicks? I mean if you call his low effort lazy bs brand of reporting covering the Knicks, then yeah I guess so. Berman starting a $pay$ to subscribe and view his articles was one of the most humorous things he ever tried to pull. I mean seriously??? Berman?? I don't think the Post even paid him anything and even then it was overpaying.

But seriously, Berman was respected by dozens of people....ok, maybe 3 people. Alright, just his Mom.

Macri seemed t indicate Berman is retiring. As frustrating as he could be, he impressively pumped out a ton of articles during the lockdown era, and made a lot of effort to engage with fans on social media (never blocked anyone) and new media like KFS, KFTV and more obscure YouTubers who were starting up (did so to help give them a chance to grow). Probably a nicer guy than you’d think

Yeah his support of social media startups was legit and made me appreciate him more.

Nice or not...his coverage left a LOT to be desired. I wish him well, as I would any hard worker, but I stopped reading his drivel ages ago.
GustavBahler @ 9/26/2022 5:42 PM
Berman was skilled enough to make us forget that he was a beat writer for a tabloid. That wanted backpage drama. Berman delivered. Hope he enjoys his well earned retirement.
Allanfan20 @ 9/26/2022 7:02 PM
Good luck and best of health to Berman.

It is the end of an era. You could tell today that even the players, who absolutely hated his attempts at creating controversy, missed him being there on Monday. He was the reporter you loved to hate. Good luck Berman.

Screw ‘im.

Seems like Bermans job and Berman the man were not one the same. His words were his occupation but not the soul.
Seems very much liked by Knicks. Even when working they seemed to kid with him about his questions in good kind of way.
Maybe with his mom passing he has inherited a bit to retire from The Post and perhaps take some time off to reset his career and do something different. Maybe a book? Maybe fictional? Maybe write a documentary? Maybe one about MSG and Dolan?
Isiah’s post HOF playing career is a novel i’d read. How he slithered into Raptors franchise. How he took over the CBA and killed it. Then how he bent the ear of a power NBA ower with the leagues most valuable franchise and made a joke of it. Be a hell of a mini series!

If Bagley, Woj, all that left it’s dark times. Even Hahn is basically PR at this point.

Additions by subtractions

Now if only Rich Cimini can piss off I can start reading local sports periodicals again

The kind of hard hitting , source oriented "blogging" taking over Knicks reporting from Berman. At least it's from an obvious expert. Just look at him.

Maybe we keep Berman? Berman? Marc? You still there?

Ahhhh yeah. Fodder for the bing bong mob. That's what it's come to and for now no turning back. I don't have to like it.

Before Berman it was Peter Vecsey with his Hoop De’jour column. We will adapt and move on the next beat reporter.

Back in the early 90s his Friday column was must read, sought after!

Vecsey was great. He had some negativity in his column for sure but in no way was it all that. Lots of insight, tid bits, and anecdotes from ABA days. And the main thing was the guy was funny as hell. Nobody I see writing, blogging, whatever now is in his league.

Bill simmons when he was hoop centric and writing had good humor. His book or articles really is good reading! He has ushered in the podcast era and is coined “the PodFather” of sports podcasts. Vesceys sarcasm translated great to print and as mentioned was “must reading”.
I like Windhorst and Lowes podcasts. The regulars get to open up and the humor trickles out.
Macri has a way to go. Content is improving but putting out a daily piece is not easy.
