I'd prefer it if he just rested. Maybe he can coach Sims if he enters
If Obi can’t avoid getting injured during a slam dunk contest oh my God
He has nothing left to prove. How about he keeps working on that three pointer?
Obi is the best dunker in the nba. Not letting him participate is like telling Steven Spielberg don’t direct anymore movies

Let's see, just coming off of a non-contact injury where his knee bone spontaneously exploded, the good decision for Obi who is nearing his contract year would be to 1) Not participate because of said recent injury and think long term about his generational money contract or 2) take advice from fans and do whatever.

He’s participated twice and won once. I wouldn’t expect him to do it again. I don’t see why he would.

Man, wishing my guy Landry luck. Say what you want about Dolan, but at least he never gave his 27 yo son the reins to the franchise. https://theathletic.com/4086123/2023/01/... Inside the end of the Travis Schlenk era in Atlanta, the Hawks’ new power structure and how it’s impacting the team
As Fox Sports’ Ric Bucher reported recently, league sources confirmed to The Athletic that Nick Ressler’s effect on the decision-making process played a pivotal part in the power dynamics that ultimately lead to Schlenk’s exile. This was a bit of an open secret around the league, and it is clear that Nick Ressler’s voice is being heavily considered on all things Hawks these days.
As I discussed on a December podcast visit with The Ringer, this reality that key Hawks figures were feeling undermined by Nick Ressler’s influence became a growing issue internally in recent months – specifically in relation to Trae Young — and had everything to do with Tony Ressler’s choice to overhaul the staff. The Dejounte Murray trade with San Antonio was the beginning of the end, as sources say it went down despite Schlenk expressing his concerns about the price being paid (three first-rounders, a first-round pick swap and Danilo Gallinari) and with Nick Ressler known to be a driving force behind the deal. League sources say Fields and several other team officials were in favor of the deal as well. As our John Hollinger detailed on Monday, the Murray deal essentially cost the Hawks Kevin Huerter as well when they had to trade him to Sacramento to get under the luxury tax.
But now, amid all these on-court struggles, Murray now finds himself navigating an environment that is wholly different from the only other NBA spot he’s ever known. He spent the first six seasons with a San Antonio Spurs organization that is known for its lack of drama. As he admitted, the transition from there to here has been challenging.
“I mean, there’s a lot going on (that’s) non-basketball,” Murray told The Athletic. “And then with basketball, you’ve got guys in trade rumors. It’s obviously more than…”
He paused to deliberate his message before continuing.
“I wouldn’t say more than what I expected, but more than where I came from in San Antonio where everything was just not as loud,” Murray continued. “There’s a lot going on, but for me I’m just trying to keep guys together with my leadership, showing up to work, working hard, being vocal and keeping us together, and trying to keep the outside noise the outside noise.

We see this type of mess all of the time. Trust fund baby son has convinced dad he knows what’s best for the franchise and has essentially hired many of his college buddies to go along for the ride. Everyone with a significant role is in their 20s or 30s and doesn’t have any real front office experience. Generally speaking Dolan leaves the basketball to the basketball people. This 27 year old owners son is running a franchise now like it’s 2k.

-Get rid of Hartenstein and replace him with Mo Bamba -Get a player that can play back up SF and PF (think we'll get rid of Obi)- but good luck on finding one, they're in such demand! -Wouldn't mind Caruso if he's cheap, but he won't be

Have to wonder what the actual cost of John Collins will be. He’s on that huge contract for a non-Star, and has regressed, I’m guessing due to the situation in Atlanta. His asking price is always high but no way is he worth a good player and picks. Utah and Indiana can take him but will want to get him for cheap to absorb the contract. He would be a very good 4/5 off the bench behind Randle and Mitch.

I read somewhere that Atlanta is backing down on their asking price. he's a tough fit. I'd do it for Obi and a first rounder, but is that trade justifiable for a guy who might be playing 29 mins a game?

Just get a young coach and let the kids play...

If Knox was nailed to Thibs bench…this MF’er would be watching the game from the locker room if Thibs has his way…

Watching these nets makes me appreciate what we have. No KD No Kyrie………But they do have 1 nba star player in Ben simons. Except Ben looks like a G league player. He’s awful 🤢 🤮

The Rockets are tanking for Wembanyama. All the pressure they put on the offensive glass is designed to make them open to transition baskets and lose lots of games. If they get the number one or number two pick it will be worth it.

Why the hell did Lopez pull him in like that just to hug him and take off his headband? Lopez started that (I know the game itself was chippy).
