This one is crap. Lauri's team was worse than the year before (figured), had a hot start but didn't challenge for the playoffs, wasn't in the conversation for clutch scoring, Brunson had comparable stat improvement, and Brunson literally changed the culture of a team to the point the national media was pointing it out (literally calling him one of the best FA signings ever). I figured this was the award Brunson had in the bag.

Whatever, makes the Mitchell deal look worse for Cleveland. Had Cleveland kept Sexton and LM they may have been more competitive and had more picks and they could have traded for Hart. Brunson and IQ don't care they will use the slights as motivation. Plus those awards can be jinxes. The New York fans know better and we will show our guys the love.

All of this. And I think I read a ton of the voters didn't even have Brunson in their top 3?

The only argument I read that holds any water is the thought Brunson didn't actually improve that much, he was just given more opportunity. Dude couldn't ball out the same way with the ball in Luka's hands, as evidenced when Luka sat. Both the Mavs FO and coach Kidd fumbled with JB.

But yeah, he should've won.

Good point. While I do agree Brunson was deserving this is somthing I did not consider and perhaps figured in voting.
Lauri has not shown this level of play prior. SGA took it up a big notch.
Does it bother Brunson or IQ to not win? I disagree, It think IQ especially. He is vying for his next contract.
But its nice they both were in contention!

Brunson has a much bigger trophy in mind.

Yeah but its the same with someone like Lauri who got an opportunity to be the man. When Julius won a cpl yrs ago, you could point to same player/same minutes/nearly same amount of shots, but improving his 3pt shooting and offense all around (assists, etc.).

Either way it doesn't mean that much, but its nice for a player who has worked as hard as Jalen to be who he is get recognized. The fact the he didn't get the all star recognition is a travesty.

In fairness, Brunson was this good last year, he just switched teams. Lauri really benefited from the switch to Utah. Playing like a different player.

Longest championship droughts in NBA

Sacramento Kings – 71years
Atlanta Hawks – 63 years
Phoenix Suns – 53 years
Los Angeles Clippers – 52 years
New York Knicks – 50 years

Kings won in 1951 as Rochester royals. They moved to Cincy, Kansas City/Omaha, then Sac.
Hawks won in St Louis.
Clips, origins are in Buffalo.

There is glimmer of hope, a path this year. No “it” team at the moment. Unlikely outcome but this is fun for now.

I am enjoying what I’ll call our more natural progression as a team and I’m glad we didn’t pay the price for Mitchell.

Just build a deep, tough and smart team and I’ll be here.

Me personally I prefer Lauri over Mitch straight up —- love the simple high level skill game and size of Lauri.

Throw in all the extras Ainge got and that deal was awesome for Utah,

Nalod @ 4/26/2023 12:15 PM
Win now: Cavs up 7 games better than last season for 4th seed. I'd say it worked out well for both teams and their objectives.
Lauri was asset that was not going to be used.
Time will tell. Ainge has not cashed in yet.
Glad we did not chase DM. There was a line. Leon did not cross it.
Reminds me of OKC getting SGA plus sweet picks. No George, no Kawhi.
On that note Balmer makes $900 million a year just in Microsoft Dividends. Repeat, just the Dividend!!!!!!!! He paid 2bil for the team. Estimated worth 80Billion.
HE'll be ok, but Clippers a bit hamstrung with those two. Was it worth it? Not yet. Doubt it does. But this is how many years after???
