Great signing by the Pistons.

Looking forward to seeing what Williams can do with this team.

The Karma of what Lavar tried to do with BBB the very thing that grounds Lonzo? The money came, but the kid is injured. Its a classic tragic story. The dad went to far and tried to monetize his son. Lonzo put in the work. Got to the NBA and earned that contract thru blood, sweat and tears. Not to say Lavar was evil. He just went to far. Stage dad syndrome.

That Lamelo is as good as he his given his path seems unlikely. His play lived up to the hype thus far.

Dodged a bullet? I don’t recall any rumors, just some chatter among fans thinking he’d be a good player here. He signed pretty darn quick with the Bulls. Didn’t they get a bit dinged for tampering?

Starbury kicks were god awful. I ordered a pair. Why? Curious at that price. The style was subjective so I won’t comment but the support level and cushion was awful. I can only imagine wearing them with an insert. I used them to powerwash my deck and driveway. The man made uppers kept my feet dry. Did Starburys contribute to Marbles fast demise in the aftermath of its release?

Did you get a chance to do a side by side of the BBB's v Starburys?

No. I moved and don’t have a deck to powerwash. BBB kicks were not $15 either. I was not expecting much from the Starbury’s at that price. It was a curious purchase and figured I can do chores in them.

Chores are OK, just no tennis in the BBB's after you sign that new contract

Im an Asics guy.
Crazy how shoe companies have pulled back on internet sales controlling pricing. The deals in the past are just gone. I used to buy 2-3 pair on black friday, like get $140 shoes for $75 if you don’t care about colors. I had at one time 7 pair in boxes new in “Inventory”. Covid, few operations I took nearly two years off from playing and even stopped browsing. IM playing on some older model now but the shoes are fantastic. The shoe loses its form and support long before one starts wearing out the bottoms. The rubber is so much better now. I recall wearing out a pair of Addidas when I was 14 in three weeks playing hoop on the playground.
Nike has shrunk its retail distribution hurting the smallindependants big time. Online, outlet, and big box are the norm for most models. Apparel companies, like many other industries are looking at margins vs. revenue and those that went into covid were in better shape.

I really thought Lavar was on to something using the hype machine to launch a brand. He created enormous exposure by his controversy and the TV show. He went at it alone were he should have partnered with a reputable company and at lest had a good shoe. I don’t think Lavar is a bad mam, but his ambition guided him to at times be a bad dad.

NEW cba promotes even greater parity.
Seems teams are making heavy investments in coaches as the good ones can matter. This is why the established ones are getting snapped up.
I wonder if the young guys will be getting opportunities going forward.
Knicks “culture building” might be a real thing. We’ll see if the plan is to keep Bryant or does he get plucked.

Monty got top tier pay!

Monty is a good coach but $72 million?

I like it. No good coach was going to coach detroit without getting a bag. The Pistons have to try and avoid becoming the Houston Rockets with all their drama and issues. You saw how happy Wemby was that they did not land him. You have to try your best to avoid that kind of reputation. Monty will aid in that endeavor. Coaches are not included in the teams cap so who cares how much he is paid. The only person hurt by the amount is the owner and GM if the boach does not work out.

Agreed and I'll build on it. I feel it takes a very close vibe with FO and coaching staff and then players to succeed in a significant way over the long term. Having too many agenda's that impede on development is HARD. Long term deal - if it marinates well and everyone is in line - is the best route.

It's also why I laugh at any notion that Thibs is going anywhere any time soon or on any type of hot seat. Besides being completely short sighted, it would point to bigger decisions that are nowhere near being had by the Knicks FO re coaching.

Thibs needs back to back playoff flameouts to even be considered getting chopped. Once wont be enough. Even then I have my doubts. He's a good coach and I hope we have him for a long long time

Happy for Monty but I'll be honest i have no idea whether it's good or bad

the team has a lot of high picks and seems in disarray. It will be a tall order to turn that around

They moved on from Dwayne casey for the future. Sure the team is young, not very good for now, but when your investing in young players you want a proven coach you can grow with. Monty is a solid guy, father, community guy, and good coach. With a CBA that promotes parity a high end coach adds great value. They locked into a good one.

Rut-Row, Jah opened pandoras box and NBA now has to look in it.

The findings and possible punishment might be really huge for the commish to say its unfair to take the attention of NBA fans away from the finals. Will the NBA consider giving a long ban for Ja?

Depends on what it is, and what he Silver and NBA lawyers said to Jah and his lawyers when he got 8 games.
If you don't follow thru with threats, children will keep pushing the limits.

What ever is coming its not like he was not warned. He might have been given an opportunity to come clean ons some things and didn't?

We don't know and likely won't know it all unless there is a criminal disclosure.

Chandler @ 6/2/2023 9:04 AM

Could be a whopper. Guys have gotten indefinite bans (at least in other sports) for repeated drug use which at its core is self-harm, but the ban was premised on the message it sent about intolerance to drug abuse

here with guns the issue is more about threatened harm to others. The other issue is with drugs you have the issue of addiction so it's tougher for the player to quit. Is there an addiction to doing stupid things with guns on social media??

i'd make it indefinite if i were in charge -- maybe lifetime depending on facts

No good coach? There are a bunch of guys available right now like Kenny Atkinson and Nate McMillan who would like a job

Only danger to Thibs is we hire Myers as the new GM and he wants to bring in his guy to coach

We fleeced the Warriors with a nice package? How does that work exactly?
That one of your "gotcha" questions? You know, when you say something that does not make sense?

BigDaddyG @ 6/2/2023 5:59 PM

Im not taking this seriously until he signs Kyrie to a multi year deal.
Clean @ 6/2/2023 6:04 PM

What the hell is this? The things he can do at his height is crazy.
