Whoever is the new GM of the Wizards is one of the worst GM's of all time. I have not liked any of their trades or almost trades. I gave them a break with the Beal trade due to no trade clause but the others ones are looking bad too. How is it the Celtics who are getting 2 1sts and the Wiz don't even get one. I give up.

I like this trade a bit more for our standing in the east than the one that fell through. Celtics trading Smart is a lot bigger than people expect. Porzingus is a perfect big for BOS but he is injury prone. A bad injury from him and no longer having Smart to be the heart of that team might cause problems unless they flip those 2 1sts for another good player.

Just heartbreaking…

Stevens coached him. Can’t be easy for him either.
KP is the kind of deal you do in their shoes. Same old same old: injury to Brogdon mattered, and KP had a great year.
If he is sustainable he could take them to the top.
Nightmare: Boston eliminates us in playoffs with him. It will hurt. Life happens.
Best scenario is we beat them full strength! Not because KP failed, but becuase we succeeded!

Surprising trade! Smart was the heart and soul of the Celtics and they are really going to miss him.

I don't think brittle KP and two measly first rounders was worth it.

1) Don't understand the Wizards, but I guess KP could have opted out.
2) Love pairing Marcus Smart with Desmond Bane and JJJ for Memphis.
3) Boston got value for Smart with those 1sts, don't really understand it though. I do like KP at center in the same role as Horford though.

Smart is a great fit for Memphis. Maybe their best shot of getting Ja back on track, but also just makes sense on the court as a basketball fit too. Similar to pairing Eric Snow with AI.

KP is a real gamble for Boston. Even if he's healthy lets see how he fits with Brown and Tatum. I don't think this is what they needed exactly because Horford spaces the floor for them already at the 4/5 and hit 3's at the highest clip of anyone. I don't understand why they were able to get 2 firsts back in this trade either...

Washington really got nothing back. Now they have Tyus Jones and Chris Paul - probably need to flip both of them too.

KP cannot guard the elite Cs like Holford can but should fit well offensively. Boston now needs another guard unless they go with just Brogdan and White and elevate Pritchard. I think they are in for a decline.

Interesting! On the surface it seems Celtics got a haul for Smart but if KP goes down they take a step back for now. And how important was Smart to their defense and chemistry? Seems the Griz valued him highly.

As for Wiz it is an all time tear down and tank job. Maybe they get some assets for Jones and even Gallo if he shows he can play.

That Celtics locker room has to get really awkward whenever Brogdan enters.

Also - a glut of players getting paid unreasonable contracts that just aren’t that much better than the ballers we have. Thank goodness we didn’t max rj. Everyone getting the max is nonsense.

Max should be one player per team. A mvp type, all nba, etc.

The league shouldn’t have 50 players getting paid the max.

The Wiz GM got one right. That is a pretty good haul for a way past his prime CP3.

Decent news for our Wizards protected pick. One more move and they might break out of the bottom 8.

That pick is gone with the wind. If they win more than expected they are going to pull a jazz and trade whoever is playing too well.

There are three more drafts for the pick to convey when it becomes two seconds. So we'll see.

there's all this chatter about whether Washington pick will convey, whether the Dallas pick will convey etc.

i take those with a HUGE grain of salt. Yes the trades have to be structured in a certain way to comply with certain rules. BUT if teams tank to avoid the understanding of what was to happen (as opposed to the technical letter of the trade) those teams really risk their reputations in the future. They will be poison. Yes some team GMs might be dirtbags fighting for their careers, and we probably should've known better with Cuban (who has always been a dirtbag including how he got his fortune selling a bag of rocks to a cash-bloated/dumb Yahoo).

and it won't only be the Knicks that will say they'll think twice before dealing with so and so, every current and future GM will know,

These things have a way of "clearing" like markets. Credibility is hard won and easily lost and i think the GMs typically are smart enough to know it.
