To be fair, the Knicks could really use what the Lakers think they would be getting out of Fournier: elite shooting.
Hard for me to put too much stock in Fournier's game right now. He played competitively over the summer. Its also true that older vets usually take a few months to get up to NBA speed. Start hitting shots more consistently. Not just RJ.
These variables make it hard to predict what kind of contribution EF will be making around the first trade deadline. Do believe its too soon to write him off this season. The better the ball movement, the better Fournier should play.
Agree that any possible trade shouldnt be a lateral move. For an expiring contract is another matter. Not many big FAs in 23' who arent drama heavy. So it better be a good trade.
If the lateral move allows for good spacing, and some upside… yes. He’s a fourth option if RJ wakes up and might be a bench piece if Grimes plays like we think he can.

If Grimes is the good shooter/better defender. They should look to trade Fournier for additional 2-way talent and additional backup PG depth. For a piece that because of age isn’t likely going to be brought back after this contract moving him for someone younger is a good idea as well.
We should be trying to salary dump Fournier

No point we would still be over the salary cap and couldn’t add a player of his level with the space available. That’s another reason why they have to move him via a trade.

You're not getting upside back for Fournier right now and you'd be hard-pressed to get shooter is near his level. Shooting is at a premium, as evidenced by Landry Shamet still being in tgeAt best, you're swapping similarly bad contracts. At worst, you're attaching assets. Best course of action is 'to get him right' and raise his appeal to playoff teams near the trade deadline.
I'm still trying to figure out how Fournier fits into the FIVB games prominently and why he can never bring that vibe back to the Knicks

Fournier is given license to create off the PnR and find his rhythm more readily with France. He's a rhythm and it's going to take some time for him to develop chemistry with JB. Look how long it took for him to gel with Jules last year.

And by develop chemistry with JB you mean when do we play the Celtics, right?

I was aiming for the back door trade Julius thread, actually.

I can see where this is headed, you want Frank back

Look... Frank shot better last year than RJ has shot this season. The numbers speak for themselves.

His level? He shot 38% from 3 last season and is currently at 40%. Not bad. Not good either considering he’s supposed to be a three point specialist. His defense is average at best. We’re better off with Cam starting and Grimes coming off the bench
Doesn’t matter tho. Nobody wants EF’s contract

FIBA/Olympics Fournier is the guy I was hoping we would get. Instead we got glorified THJ

He’s an excellent option and Thibs loves him, but I wish he was a better outside shooter.
Hart is worth trading for an audition for next season.
Hart is worth trading for an audition for next season. Cam Reddish, filler like Ryan A for Hart works numbers wise. Throw in some second rounders and we roll with Hart as a young vet wing. If he doesn't shoot we have incoming draft picks this draft

Epic, Gold Jerry, that's Gold

So I guess the Knicks will be throwing in the towel soon…
