Two Knicks in top 30.

If I told you in 2022, there will be 2 players in the top 30 from Portland and non of them is dame?

Where’s Harden?

I haven’t paid attention to other teams but I’m guessing those two guys are not top 30 right now? I’m guessing if they are healthy one of them or both will be top 30 by the end of the season?
Pretty good to see 2 from the Knicks.

How about Haliburton ahead of Ja?

Two players the Knicks were linked to and did not select in the drafts: Halliburton and Mikal Bridges.

Because it’s probably stats based instead of athletic highlights based.

Because it’s probably stats based instead of athletic highlights based.

It supposedly takes into account team success as well as stats, according to the hoops hype website. But they don't list how much weight they give to each stat while making their calculations. Also, if you compare Hal and Ja's advance stats, you might be surprised at how close they are.
https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_find...

The process has several automated steps. First one is to assign an individual number factoring simple stats from each player. Points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, turnovers, fouls and shooting efficiency are the basis for that stat.

The next step takes into account the performance of the team and the impact a player had in it. If a player is on the court for 35 minutes in a 20-point win, the impact has nothing to do with the one of a player who only logged five minutes.

The amount of games a player has missed in a certain season or competition is also factored in. That helps differentiate players that have been productive for their teams on a regular basis from others standing out due to small samples. That’s especially useful when discussing awards, where voters and fans prioritize players who have been on the court for most of the year.

The Lebron James omission is a little head scratching since he's played around the same number of games as Embiid.

It makes no sense. He is going for 27 9 and 6. His efficeny isn't so bad that he should be off the top 30.

Okay, anybody who is asking for a Randle trade needs to cough up 3 unprotected and tw protected firsts, and a rotation player or two.

For those that wanted to trade Randle, now is the time.

He’s been killing and looks like he’s in a happy place. That’s not hard to do after a long winning streak. Would love to see how this team and Randle handles adversity. We know the streak will end. But good team just uses that momentum to start a new streak. Bad teams lose and start a losing streak.

Let’s hope that Dallas lost was a turning point of no return. We are a completely different team now. With a different identity.

blkexec @ 12/19/2022 8:56 AM
Do I feel like trading Randle now is a smart or dumb move?

If trading Randle is the path to a championship then yes trade him. If not keep him. It’s all about whatever moves improves the team I’m all for it. I’m not stuck on one player (deuce for example). Sometimes you have to sacrifice something to move closer to the main goal.

I’m not sure this FO will make extreme trades like trading Randle unless a superstar is coming. And I don’t see any savors in FA. Our superstar will have to come from within or through the draft. That Lebron or KD train has sailed. I can’t think of a superstar who is also available that can bring us a chip.

Personally I thought with RJs age and college resume, he would step up and become a franchise player we need. Now with JB on board, he looks like an all star and Randle was already at an all star. Seems like we have a big 9 compared to other teams big 3.

Trade Randle??? People actually wanted to trade Randle?!!

Seriously though, Randle has never played defense this well in his entire career, and Jalen Brunson and the coaching staff finally got him to cut down his turnovers. Once his 3pt shot started falling, he began to look like All-Star Randle from 2020-2021. The Knicks are not trading him. The FO actually loves Randle, despite the many fans wanting him gone. Randle and Brunson are our two untouchables. The FO was open to trading RJ, but now I think they would have to blown away with an offer to trade him, and Grimes also looks untouchable at the moment. The FO will look to trade Reddish and Fourniet (an perhaps Rose). Other than that, I doubt there are any other changes to the team unless someone gets injured.

Hard to know what one move would be the "path to a championship"? Nets added Harden to Irving and KD and that path proved to go nowhere.
Like RJ, Randle, JB, MR and Grimes. But sure, if we can upgrade a position, the move should be made. As long as it is not a lateral move or one for a question mark. I am for keeping good productive players (Despite their shortcomings). And for getting rid of ones that have not produced. Despite fans hope. So would rather trade some of our hopefuls/will never be for another piece. In terms of Randle, I cannot see any PF who is available that could produce more than Randle is right now.

Agree....BUT

If I'm trying to trade Randle (which I'm not), it's not to find someone who produces more than Randle.

Replace Randle with a PF roll player (ex: a PF version of Grimes who impacts the team without being the main guy on offense). With the hope that RJ, JB, Grimes and Mitch all take steps forward. This also gives the FO a better look at Obi to decide is he's worth keeping. Or the move might increase Obi's value with more PT.

So I agree, can't find a PF better than Randle, but I don't think thats the goal for trading him. But I believe it's very easy to find a complimentary roll player that fits a roll on the team. Meanwhile the hope is JB, RJ and Grimes are skilled enough to take a step forward. And RJ has already showed what he can do without Randle on the floor, his game steps up a level or two.

My take is maybe we are already a solid playoff team (7 in a row is nothing to sneeze at).

An example of one move leading to a championship is Lebron in his prime. That ship has sailed. Basically I'm saying there are no 1 move paths to a chip anymore. Might have to look at the draft and get your superstar that way, or hope we have one already being developed.

0k, now that we've moved past the ridiculous proposition of dumping Randle's contract or trading him for a second rounder. Here's a comp:
Randle for D. Sabonis
Who says no and why?
