This was almost the DSJ revenge game. Kind of knew this would be a battle. Steve Clifford is a good HC and got his team playing well. But great job taking care of business! Had to win these 3 home games cause the next few weeks are going to get tough!
We would have lost this game last season. Here is where having Brunson makes a big difference! I feel so comfortable having the ball in his hands late in the game. You just know you're going to get a good shot. He made some big shots in the 4th and OT last night. Including that pass to Robinson, who was outstanding too, for the dunk.
Kudos to Randle. Big offensive rebound and putback and left hand finisher to ice the game.
RJ had a so-so game but those 2 FT's were huge! You can tell he really worked on them in the offseason.
The bench was outplayed overall but good to see Obi knocking down some threes. Surprised Thibs went with Reddish to finish the game. Had a nice defensive stop and forced a TO on Oubre late in the game.
3-1, which might be our best record the entire season so enjoy it!!
That play was MAGIC and what I'd love to see more from Bruson

DSJ killed the Knicks when he was here, he kills us when he’s on the hornets
Glad to see he's taking advantage of the opportunity. He always had the talent, but he developed bad habits at NC State and the Mavs. Glad to see that he's realizing the league is more than highlight dunks. We're lucky 'meli and Scary Terry were out last night tho.
I can’t stand him but wish him the best

Has a weird thing for IQ as well.
But she wants us to go back!
Win-Win!
You gonna be re-upping those nuptials soon, just don't give in to the wife insisting IQ be invited to that party

Hornets Coach helped us out at the end of regulation. Called timeout instead of letting Smith go one on one against Cam. Allowed us to set up a somewhat better defense. Great win.
Think Obi had it going from three and should have been in more towards the end. Same with IQ.
Big shots by Brunson and Randle at the end of OT though.
Our defense was really sloppy throughout the game. Too much matador D and letting guys get open for backdoor passes. Also too many silly unforced turnovers
So Randle finally gets over the spinovers and now Cam takes over that move? Cam good for like 1 a game I guess

Cam needs to work on his handles. That is three games in a row in which he has at least one play where he essentially hands the ball to the other team by bouncing it off his leg or trying to do a cross-over and he mishandles the ball. He needs to work on his handles and his forearm/wrist strength.
Knicks up one with what could've been their last possession in OT.
Loved this play last night for a couple reasons:
Julius tried to defer to Brunson as plan A. Jalen is our alpha.
Brunson getting so much attention from the CHA defense, Randle able to get single coverage on the drive.
The Brunson effect is on full display. I think he's bringing back All Star Randle.
fishmike wrote:great to us be able to win during a RJ/Randle miss-a-thon. They combined for 24 misses, but both had clutch moments late and that was nice in a game like this.Brunson appears to overdribble at times but unlike someone like ELF once he gets to his spots he scores with high EFF% and his clutch play will really be a cool story line as the season goes on. He's got the makings of a good closer on offense.
Cha smoked the Hawks by 17 the other night with this crew so a win is a win. Being able to close and win these games is great. Squad looks good with plenty of upside. Bench need to play better. They didnt play a lick of defense and that's gonna have Thibs pissy which is good.
Great fun start to the season
There will be plenty of games like this from Randle and RJ during the long season. Fortunately for us, we have a closer in Brunson that can take us home in close games against teams that we should beat. Last year, this would have been an L. I actually don't mind him over dribbling at times, especially down the stretch because he always makes the correct decision. He gets to his spots and takes the shots he wants, not what the defense is trying to give him. Honestly, Brunson is the best all around player we've had wear the blue and orange in a long, long time. All around meaning passing, shooting, court awareness, BB IQ, mental toughness, etc.
Like what I am seeing so far but am curious to see how we deal with adversity down the road....Thought tonight was the night to extend Obi's minutes, he had it going.
I tell you what, lots of respect for the job Steve Clifford is doing in CHO with a lot of guys missing. They played very well.

Agreed...and like the Knicks, defensively, they are going to get better as the season progresses. Clifford sat next to Thibs who sat next to Van Gundy during his run with the Knicks. All value the same defensive principles that was passed down from Riley.

Thibs don't care. His heart belongs to one thing.
