I can live with the weird drives to the basket with consistent and purposeful defense and excellent 3 point shots.
are his drives to the hoop really worse than RJs? Meaning, Cam does make some of those with his height- he just needs to get a little more coordinated.

was a fun game to watch.
there were a couple of moments late in game when Julius started his overdribbling including a spin move with no defender near him (which was a little bizarre) but overall his self assessment of quick decisions seemed right.
Cam at the start of the game was great. i think he can get consistent minutes with his D simply because of a lack of defenders with his length and quickness. Someone needs to get him to calm down a little on his drives, and just trust a higher percentage shot is better than his attempted highlight reels. Looking forward to continued improvement and perhaps if he can just start trusting he'll get minutes with his D the other stuff will fall into place

I think both RJ and Cam can be really effective going to the rim, it's just the When to do it part: be purposeful and don't just put your head down when 2-3 defenders are right in front of you while there are some better ways to use the possession.
I think for a lot of kids that are physically just more mature than their opponents during high school and college (and especially so when they are One and Done), they don't necessarily learn all of the nuances of driving to the basket. Brunson has had to learn and adjust and compensate his way to beautiful basketball in the mid range and at the rim; RJ and Cam just out physicall'ed guys their whole life and are still learning how to do different now that everyone is same or better than they are.

Enjoyed this one as much as I honestly dislike the new NBA with all the threes LOL. We couldn't have played better offensively, especially in the first quarter. Great bounce back win!
I don't know what Randle did and ate before this game but he needs to keep doing that! His three looked pure! Eight threes! And even a Steph Curry-like step back! Great signs the last two games with that three ball (11/20). But last night it wasn't just his shooting. There a difference energy about him. He seemed really energized and happy! Good sign to either help us win games or increase his trade value.
I think RJ is back to normal and has shaken off the early season shooting slump. His three is also looking so much better the last 5 games (13/30, 43%). He's also driving and creating off contact with more control instead of just flinging it at the rim hoping it goes in.
Brunson was again great with 23/8/5. Made timely shots in the second half. Love how crafty he is! I thought Sims gave us great production and energy too! Happy for him to play infront of his fam. He seems like such a nice kid! Kudos to Fournier for passing up a layup and giving Sims a dunk. Did the same with an Obi dunk. I'm not a fan of Fournier's game at all but that's a great teammate. I actually have no issues with Fournier in a reduced role off the bench.
KAT needs to hurry up and ask out. He'd look nice in orange and blue!

There weren't any laptops nearby to challenge him to fistfight.

I thought defense and effort were much better. Telling sign was when they got up 20+ and continued to hustle. They got a little stale on offense... too much "here your turn" and not enough attacking but over all the kind of effort I expected.
Hows the anti-Thibs crowd after games like this? Fournier gets benched and he's dishing to the kids like dad on the playground. We got smoked and booed vs. the Celtics and rather than play tight the team is playing with hustle, joy and and enthusiasm. We play a lot of guys and 60% of the nightly rotation is guys 24 or younger. It's a work in progress. I do think we are gearing up for a big trade at some point, but in the meantime I like what we are doing with what we have. 5-5 is OK... like a C+ but there's plenty to like.
24 does anyone else view Hart as a legit prospect? He's really got all the tools... just needs to get a bit better at some things and he's a real great piece. What a find.
Nice to see the guys bounce back. I love when RJ outplays Edwards. I think of Kemet every time RJ scores and flexes

Fournier having the highest +/- for game is just the chief's kiss, amiright?

I keep forgetting he's only 24 (actually a month younger than Mitch!). I always think of him as a vet who's going to calm the team down on the floor.
His ability to hit the 3 was greatly overstated when we signed him, but great defense, great passing, just an incredibly smart player.
Bummed I missed this one, but looking forward to watching this on DVR. Very happy to see Obi's minutes keep trending upward.
Ant Edwards can suck it.

From high school downward, kids around the county are asking their parents what a DVR is

yeah RJ really played him well... and yeah Hart has that legit high IQ. Seems super coachable as well. Looking forward to following that arc

I keep thinking Cam isn't that far away from a 30pt breakout game.

Even though Hart has not hit the 3pt shot, I still think it will be as good as advertised. At every other stop and juncture, he hit a ton of those shots, efficiently too.
During the preseason, the Knicks played Hart in a completely different manor than he is being used now. He was a point center playing at top of key with the ball in his hands more than I had expected; I think this is the goal with Hart but it just wasn't working and the team needed a better way to get guys moving and clicking around Hart (with either second or first units).
I'd guess, and maybe this wasn't overly or directly so, they have asked Hart to do more screening to get guys downhill cause the cutting and off ball movement is a different level for most guys on the team. It'll get there at some point but it's going to be a while for it (maybe like next season).
And eventually you will see the more natural 3point shots from Hart when other guys get grooving first.

I have to admit that I have come around on the Cam trade. No longer having to see Evan getting torched by starting SGs is worth the pick.
