This is a two-parter. It is also secretly a shot at those who wanted us to keep Reggie even after he was exposed during the playoffs. On another note, I think we are majorly hurt by the loss of Burks and Taj. Many games Burks won for us even last season while we sucked. Taj kept us afloat in a few games also. We did not win all of them but his presences is also sorely missed.
I'm not killing the FO for not keeping Reggie, but he's traditionally been a slow starter. I have to assume he picks it up. I agree about Burks. With Rose and Fournier struggling, we have no consistent creators off the bench. Or wing types. The hope is that Grimes eventually steps up.
Nalod wrote:Durant is hoop savant. I like that he pulls the villain stuff out. Its not mean spirited. Its competitive and shows for the moment its his house. He is showing pride. We all know he wants out. When Harden and Vince Carter wanted out they sat out or just plain gave up on the court. Durant wants out. He stated as much. But he is a hoop junkie and doing his best. Given that, I respect his play.Fact is Durant and this nets era has owned the knicks on the court.
Last night was a shit show. Credit to coach Vaughn who gets an opportunity to coach and pulled this team together last 10 days thru adversity and they are playing well..500 teams are Inconsistant. We are.
Yes, yes KD is an all-time great. Eff him! ... 😢... Wish we had him...
Uptown wrote:Chandler wrote:I had to turn game off. Disgusting and selfish playMost nights, it feels like some of the players on this team are more interested in getting numbers...
Knicks shot like 30% had near zero ball movement to that defensive juggernaut (insert sarcasm emoji?)
Durant was hitting his shot and the Nets confidence fed off that and as a result a bunch of other guys were hitting theirs. But we played awful.
I was stunned that Thibs trotted out the same crew to start the second half. I know it's a delicate balancing act and he wants consistency etc. but he needs to play those who are playing well that night
what was our plan on D, stop KD and let the other guys beat us, or let KD have his but don't let the other guys? seemed like chaos
and when we shot 30% against the likes of Seth Curry and Cam Thomas something weird is happening
And as much as I like to criticize Julius I will say that early in the game i do think he tried to bring some energy and get others to do same.
Took all of 30 min. I was asleep and missed the shit show in its entirety. if we made a huge comeback i’d catch the reply today.
No need. Easier to follow a .500 team this way. I know its cheating but If late I’ll do the same thing if we have a big lead.
I’ll fast foward and see if game gets close then slow it down. Need sleep!!!!
More often than not I do the game about an hour after it starts and can fast forward thru the time outs and breaks. Blow thru Half time and commercials then catch up in real time. West coast games are impossible. Can’t stay up to 1am.
League pass thru youtube TV is great! on the road can either use fire stick in hotel or at the beach house. Picture on my new Airbook is really quite good with airpods is a good set up.
But last night was embarrassing. There is just no excuse for that lack of energy and effort on national TV against your rivals. I'm hearing too much 'they played harder then us' bs from the players. Too early for that! Fatigue should not be an issue! This falls on the HC and the leaders of the team to have this team ready to go every game!
Give the Nets credit. Vaughn has been a shinning light for that team. He has them playing together and playing hard. And of course KD makes the game easy for everyone. All those wide open threes in the first quarter were because of KD and his greatness.
But Brunson needs to play harder on defense! No excuse letting Edmond freaking Sumner torch you and violate you like that! And piss poor job by Brunson running the team to start the game! Too much one on one and it starts with him. There is no Luka here! You cannot 'let the game come to you'. There are no games off!
And I know everyone is frustrated with Randle (I am too!) but if it wasn't for him, we would have lost this game by 50!
I really hope we can make a trade soon cause this .500 bs sucks!

I did the same. I detached my heart from this team after the Hornets game. I saw too many bad things that I knew I would be in for trouble if I stayed emotionally invested.
I could have watched a G league team and seen better basketball.
It was embarrassing to watch professional basketball players shoot this bad.
Besides Randle's 46%, Simms 100% and Harts 50%, our rotational players shot 14 for 61. I will let everyone do the math.
Our best three point shooter was Randle with 50%. OUR WINGS (the guys that are suppose to be shooters shot 5 for 26? (EF had 2 of those makes)
Our starting PG had 2 assists in 30 minutes. IQ led with only 4 followed by Randle with 3.
Defense was bad once again. But mostly because of the Nets ball movement.
Durant put on a clinic in Bball IQ. (hopefully we took notes)
Right now we are a bunch of stat padding selfish players.
I watched Obi, our PF responsible for rebounding. leave the defensive side to break out for a fast break several times. Are we just basket hanging now when down 20? Him leaving led to offensive rebound and Curry three.
Cam is back to his clueless drives.
IQ still cant shoot and does not look for anyone.
RJ still has his blinders on and only sees the basket.
Randle still thinks he can dribble. Do not mind him bringing ball up to help JB with pressure but he needs to know he cannot dribble for shit in traffic.
WE NEED a SG!! Emphasis on SHOOTING. Hopefully Grimes gets healthy.
What is wrong with Rose? Playing like he is on a 10 day.
JB is playing like he has been watching a lot of Donovan Mitchell highlights.
Hart is good but not good enough to beat any high tier teams.
Other than that, I was happy with our performance against the Nyts.

Love your post. But the next to last line got me.... If we can lose by 25 with Randle then i'm ok with losing by 50 without.
There is no universe where Randle leads us to even the land adjacent to the promised land so the sooner we get off his contract and free OBI the better.

I made it through half of first quarter and it was one of those nights that the recording features of any show really kick in for a possible win-win. First win cause I turned the game off and didn't waste my time with the rest, and just in case they come back, it'll be a second win by watching it late. Only one win for me tonight

As usual with Tommy tweets ignore the second part. 28% combined shooting from 3 is an abomination in modern NBA.

Tired of this thinking. One in which we are suppose to trade proven players and trust unsupported hope. This is the reason why we have sucked for so many years. Years in which fans are waiting for draft picks and hopefuls like Chandler, Hardaway, Frye, Fields. Hill, Frank, Knox, Obi, Grimes, IQ and every other unproven dream to materialize. How about we just build a team with players that have shown they can play in the NBA and not just in fans dreams? And allow players like Obi to continue to prove he is one of those before we propel him over others that have. Randle is not going to "get us to the promised land" but the mindset of accumulating and developing proven players will get us closer to that than a bunch of unproven fan favorites that have yet to prove anything.
FYI, you may want to check the stats for the last 4 games before you go calling for trades. That is if you want to be constructive.

Because the salary cap doesn't really allow for that. You need to make decisions on players and manage accordingly. I a perfect world, you can sign vets and wait for the younger guys to takeover. I the real world, a mediocre teams with 4 players making close to or more than $20M just means a deadend.

Agree with that. But what should be the barometer in deciding which players should be kept. Randle is reasonably priced for his level of production. Especially when we have other players who we may not be able to say the same of. Were the extension for RJ and MR justified? How do we get rid of those have not worked out? ie EF?
And btw, I am not saying to trade or give up on kids like IQ, Grimes, Obi, MR or RJ. My favorite players are IQ and Grimes. Both who have potential but have proven very little. I am saying that you cannot trade your best player without having an alternative. And "lets give my hopeful a try" is not good enough for me and what I have eluded to. Is Obi more than that? Showing he may be. Obi has has improved and playing more complete. But we cant say he has proven that on a large scale. So what's the rush? He still has a lot of things he still needs to work on. Do agree he should get more time and leniency to do so though.
I know you don't agree with me but Randle is not our biggest concern. Yes he can be frustrating to watch. Cannot stand when he dribbles the ball and tries to make something happen. Can't stand his lack of composure at key times. However, he is a physically tough PF, decent shooter, showing good effort level, very good rebounder and is willing to be here, change and improve. Do I want a better player? Absolutely. But where is he? I had no problems including him for DM. I'll take Jeremi Grant for him. But can we be sure these are guys that would put us over the hump? Are these guys that have propelled their teams to more than playoff losers? Are they guys that would change our current roster to playoff contention?
They may be guys that like Randle, would not be enough and we would be blaming for all our failures.
Feel decisions will be made in due time. After last night, it does not look like anyone we have is a difference maker or worth keeping. Maybe the package for DM was the move, Who knows. Just another reminder of how hard it is to put a solid playoff team together and how we are not looking like we are close to that.
The issue/problem is talent level. We don't have that Curry/Luka/KD type guy. Or the next rung of say Trae/Booker/or even Mitchell (don't start). What we do have is more assets to go with an elevated talent base - definitely compared to a few years ago. So far the FO has resisted the cries to tear it down trade Randle and #1s for (fill in player who will make it worse). I continue to hope for a process that avoids what we've always done.

Rit is a genius.
I mean why not post a reel of the 5 for 26 brick laying exhibition? Nah, lets focus on Randle not passing out immediately to one of those who was shooting so well.
Typical Randle scapegoating.
Let me put together some clips on everyone's decision making mistakes last night.
I hope I can find just one that was not Randle. Since everyone else played so well.
as i mentioned in another post i thought Julius was the only one who played with energy for a long stretch in that game. He was the least of our problems on offense. there was a lot of selfish play on our offense yesterday.
Chandler wrote:^^ i hear you about the brick laying but Rit has a point too. If you see the score it was early. Agree with everything.
Everyone played badly. Including Randle who made several bad plays.
Difference is we don't see a whole bunch of breakdowns of the many other mistakes.
I get it though. Randle is our best player. No one likes that he is. He is our scapegoat.
But scapegoats mask many other reasons for failure.
I want the Knicks to stop being failures.
