It's funny, I think Obi got pulled cause he didn't shoot it enough. He had a WIDE open 3 from ball movement and instead of shooting passed to an equally wide open IQ for corner 3.

It's a generous pass but that's exactly when Obi was pulled. Obi, best 3 pt shooter on team, passed an open shot to a struggle 3pt shooter. It's a basketball decision you have to be able to make in real time.

So you think Thibs pulled OBI for making the extra pass? I don't think that holds water.

No, I think Obi got pulled for not taking the shot, or at least that's the best I can see on that one particular play if it was the case (maybe there were other reasons). Again, Obi is the best 3pt shooter on the team and IQ is the worst.

Let's draw out an extreme example. Do you want Steph Curry to shoot the completely wide open shot or pass to a teammate in the corner who is shooting 28% from 3?

These are the types of real time decisions all players have to continually process to make smart, winning plays for their team.

martin @ 11/13/2022 6:33 PM
It's the same as making a decision who to cover on defense at the 3pt line. All players should know who to rotate out to if they have a choice in covering 2 guys and one is not a good shooter.

I can’t believe how badly we got TPercy’d today. Ouch.

Trade TPercy

martin @ 11/13/2022 6:49 PM
What do you guys think... Should Ben Simmons have dunked that fuckin ball when he was wide open near the rim when he was last on Philly in the playoffs or passed to another guy who was also cutting to the rim who also maybe had the possibility to dunk the ball?

It's another extreme example but you get the drift.

It doesn’t matter until we get a roster that fits Thibs style of play. Or a coach that fits the roster. This hybrid vet / yoots ain’t working.

I only saw the first quarter so I’m not as upset as you guys. But seems like the same song and dance. And tomorrow the Thibs fans will come out to play again. They killed me for saying thibs needs to go. They said his COY and I’m just a fan. Now it’s in thibs hands. Will he make it back to the garden is a great question.

I believe the players like him and want to play hard for him. But if your not a good defender, there’s nothing the all mighty thibs can do. He’s a defensive coach and the FO gave him offensive players. Mismatch from the beginning. And Randle is not the cornerstone you build around.

But hey what do I know. I’ve only been saying this from day one and I’m waiting to eat crow. Please prove me wrong thibs, Randle and EF.

When you force an offensive player that relies on his shooting touch to make money, you get inconsistent play from EF and Randle. Even in the 1st quarter I watched Randle just let his man blow by him to the rim. It’s like we already have a team full of players with slow feet yet we just gave JB and RJ over 200mil. EF and Randle got their bag. All four of these guys are slow footed yet thibs is forced to play them. I heard he sat 200millions dollars of salary on the bench and we still lost. Keep that up and I don’t have to say another word for changes to come.

Either we a playoff team or hunting for a high pick. This hybrid approach ain’t working under this coaching staff.

Or Mitchell, Haliburton. Plenty of times we could have got our guy through the draft. Franchise is snake bitten

Honestly, yes... A 1000 times yes.

what a stinker. Players had no answers. Coach had no answers. They got some work to do.

That’s on the coach and coaching staff during film study prior to the game. Can’t expect Sims to figure it out on his own. That’s why we hired a defensive coach. And Thibs is oldschool Xs and Os type of guy. Plays by the book. And one thing that’s been consistent since basketball started was coaches peeping their players prior to every game, especially young nba experience players like Sims.

That's an odd perspective to take.

I keep telling myself not to get angry. It's not worth getting emotionally invested in this years team. It's a .500 team at best so it's going to be an up and down rollercoaster all season unless they make a trade to improve the roster. But it's difficult not to get angry watching games like this. You just cannot allow a team to come into your house and drop 145 points. This is the worst defense I think I have ever seen in my 30 plus years watching this team. I don't know if it's the scheme or the players themselves just not playing hard enough but it's probably a combination of both. Or maybe it's just how the game is now. Denver scored 126, Sacramento 122, Minnesota 129 and Cleveland 124 yesterday. But 145 on 63% shooting and 17 threes on 55%? I'm not a basketball expert by any means but constantly watching the opponent run the same play over and over again and getting wide open threes. This defense is broken. Thibs needs to figure this out or he won't be here much longer. He's a defensive minded HC! Either the scheme needs to change or altered or the players need to play better. Or start playing guys who will at least hustle back and try to defend!

Kudos to Reddish. He played hard and tried to defend. He also displayed his offensive potential with some sick drives, crossovers and layup's. I really hope he can somehow start showing some consistency cause the talent is there. Sims also gave us some good minutes. That alley-oop was insane.

Everyone else can kick rocks and should be embarrassed by their effort!

SGA is really good. Presti would be really dumb to trade him.

Clean wrote:Sigh, all weakside defenders in the paint again and left shooter for open 3.

This is the part of the scheme I do not understand. And Thibs is not the only HC who does this. I do not get the point of it. Are all weak defenders supposed to be responsible for a drive? Are they expected to sprint 20 feet once the ball swings? It makes no sense!

Chandler @ 11/14/2022 11:48 AM
ok this game was beyond frustrating especially our 3 point defense

i am going to try to focus on the positives. One there was another Cam sighting. Hopefully he can build off of this. No i don't expect this on a regular basis but yes it would be good to see continued growth. Two, Randle has been playing with his head up more.

I don’t get all the trade chatter. OKC doesn’t need anymore draft picks. They don’t need any cap room. And they don’t need to trade for any young players. I’m call BS on any trade involving Shai

Nobody here thinks he's getting traded. That's tabloid junk.

If you win the #1 pick and want to trade Wembayanabanana to OKC for a package around SGA that might work. We have nothing for OKC.

Chandler @ 11/14/2022 1:38 PM
^^^ i'm in the same camp where i can't see why OKC would trade SGA (unless they were tanking)

I've seen the headlines about us hoarding picks to trade for a star but frankly have had a difficult time envisioning which star might be traded

Nalod @ 11/14/2022 4:43 PM
Seems when we play a team media stirs up shit to write about.
Who on the jazz we can get for EF and a pick? Remember, Ainge traded for EF once before, so he would do it again.
