Thibs a top coach since he went with a 9 man rotation.
Every time this thread gets bumped, I'm honored to use that time to show Thibs his flowers. Grimes mins is taking a hit, but he's still the starter, along with RJ. And Thibs continues to win. There's no reason for anybody to complain.

You're proving my point.
Everyone knows Tom Thibs been a Knicks fan before becoming an assistant Coach.
Everyone realizes he's been a Knicks fan since his childhood days.
It's one of the main reasons why so many fans have made me sick throughout this entire thread (many of other threads too) in regards to the absolute horse crap types of things that's been said about a Coach as awesome as Thibs.

NYK said.....You're just now realizing this?
Then why even say this?
All I said was a general statement about Thibs. I didn't say I just realized this. I didn't say nobody knew this. It's a knick forum and all I did was say something positive about thibs, and ironically you turned that into a negative. Scratching my head!
Eitherway, Thibs is the man with the plan. Don't fire him, extend him.
Nothing better than to have an old school coach with NYC ties that goes back further than when I was born and I'm a good 15yrs older than you.
So all I'm doing in this Fire Thibs thread is to give Thibs his flowers. I may be picky at certain things, but overall he has met and exceeded my expectations. And turned this ship around and pointing it in the right direction. So I gotta give him his flowers.
The reason some are still hard on him, is because we've been a losing franchise forever. So theres only so much a fan can take. At the end of the day, all true knick fans loves this coach and team, regardless if you read and hear a bunch of emotional posts. It's just knick fans crying out loud and being impatient like every person born and raised in NYC. We want to win and we want to win now, not later. But we now see the fruits of being patient.

Okay blkexec. Say less.
Welcome to the Thibs support group. He's won you over and that's all that matters.
Fk the past.
Fk this thread.
(Stick a fork in em).
Welcome onto the Thibs train now let's enjoy the rest of our season and watch this Coach lead his kids into Playoff rivalries.

Bonkers in for real Martin man I've been preaching 2022-2023's NBA Top-5/6 NBA Offensive Rating and screaming #1 All-Time Offensive Rating (within Franchise History) for weeks on end before heading into the All-Star weekend what we've been watching is something special in the making this shit is fun I can't believe what we're all seeing right now.

I agree, if we finish strong he should get votes. If Sac collapses he might snag it.
Still a quarter of season left. Games to be played, injuries to navagate.
Wonder if Randle is back on the All-NBA track. Gaudy numbers, winning ways, and has yet to miss a game. If he goes all 82 at that level that can’t hurt!

“…Fans will find something to complain about..."
Yup.
"...But that just shows the passion of fans”
Sorry Mike Breen, but no.

I think he's our next Pat Riley Jeff Van Gundy and could be here another 7+ years what I mean by that is we could be on the verge of dominating the 2020's with Postseason trips similar to the 90s.
3x COY would make NBA history for Thibs & only I think 3 others have 3+ 🥇🥇🥇🥈🥈🥉 (that would be his resume).
Man I'm rooting HARD against both Sacramento and Memphis because of it .
Right now those 2 coaches might be his only true competitors this time x3 if he gets 50-53+ wins.

Nope. It was the frequency to which we change coaches and FO personal. It was was warranted.
Few debated Fiz removal. Perhaps your confusing the “Consensus” with questioning the hire given Thibs was seen as old school and inflexible. Sentiments even the most ardent fans echoed.
Thibs won COTY but still fans questioned his inflexibility and penchant to stick with veterans and not develop yoot.
Thibs was on the hot seat as rumored even this season. That very yoot now saved the season for him and us providing the feel good story you now promote.
Excerpt from the Ringer:
Maybe most alarming for Knicks fans is that Thibodeau’s preferred philosophies have become obsolete in the modern NBA. As 3-point prowess has clearly emerged as a critical factor, Thibodeau remains stubbornly resistant to change. In his final two seasons with Minnesota, the Timberwolves were dead last in 3-point attempts per game. In case you’re wondering whether teams that don’t shoot 3-pointers can be effective, consider that the Knicks ranked 29th in 3-point attempts and dead last in makes before failing to qualify for the bubble. It’s almost more disheartening to see the Knicks hire someone largely viewed as a competent coach compared to some of their recent head-coaching flameouts. This was new team president Leon Rose’s chance to put his mark on his team. Instead of putting the Knicks in the best position to win, he hired one of his former clients from when he was an agent. Tired of trying something new, the Knicks decided to try something old. We know it won’t work, but it might look slightly more respectable, and sometime in a few years I’ll be writing about the Knicks’ next attempt at climbing out from the depths.
First prove that you in fact thought this was totally wrong at the moment of his hiring? That the critique of the hire was not without its points. Also, we know media takes extreme takes so its not like anything new.
Now, read it again and many of the very people on these pages were thought similar or at least questioned the hiring in similar fashion. Also, after last season and the first month of this it was also valid to again revisit. Nobody said he was not a good coach, just was this the guy for that time. After years of this knick fans and writers could not with confidence go forward until some levels of RESULTS were shown. That is not given, it had to be earned. Call it “Benefit of Doubt”.
You enjoying the teams success or revel in that some fans and writers three years later might have been assumptive given the track record of the team?

Firing a complete dud like Fizdale has nothing to do with whether or not we had fired another equally bad head coach like Kurt Rambis years earlier. This is a capitalist country you don’t get to keep a job you are obviously horrible at because of something unrelated that happened before. Fiz by every metric was the worst ever head coach this franchise has ever had. Stick to defending Jerome James and Elf

Nobody said firing fiz was out of line. Rambis was Interim. So was Herb. They were in place because of a change and they have been frequent over the years.
Fizdale was a good idea that executed very badly. Fisher was also. Chaney firing was idiotic, Wilkens hiring was awful, Larry was a great hire, but not for that roster. Isiah installed? Awful. MDA? Great hire, wrong roster. Woodson was solid and was already here. Media treatment was reasonable. Your preening after the fact.
Not sure why you cherry picked Fiz when nobody if anyone was debating his release. It was knicks bad pattern and again, many fans echoed the same sentiments that Thibs was questionable. You cherry picked Rambis to make a point. Its convienent to do so.
Like today when cited Drose contract on another thread as reason your concerned about knicks maybe overpaying JHart.

THen there is patience.
Then when it works its wonderful.
Thibs been tinkering with his line up and been doing very well with it.
not every night of course. Denver game was well done. He does ride with the hot hand and with a healthy team he basically had his starters back to finish except with Grimes. Hart gets it done down the stretch. Thibs is developing his trio of yoot (22 year olds RJ and Grimes, and 23 year old IQ). They are competing for minutes but in a good way. All three are on a good trajectory.
RJ did not have a good shooting game from deep, but there was improvement. Fewer shot clock rushed, one pull up, and one he got the ball down hill in motion. This as opposed to off a screen or in the corner. Grimes was good on defense.
The future will take care of itself but Thibs and knicks are doing fine looking at the 5 seed, and getting its line ups and pace set for the post season.
