Knicks · Shooting is contagious. Knicks need some badly. (page 2)

Knicks are 30th in 3 pointers made. Yeah, we need shooting.

He’s probably a neutral defensive liability as Randle is, but offers a better fit. Randle and a pick from another team for bogdanovic. Just thinking about another avenue.

I was hoping Fournier would bounce back this year but he just sucked. Maybe taking a break for a few games can get him out of his slump. Problem with EF is if he isn’t hitting 3’s he’s a liability. Guys like RJ, IQ and Grimes even they aren’t hitting 3s they do other things like defend, rebound and pass. EF is just a shooter nothing else

EwingsGlass @ 11/28/2022 9:36 PM
I mean, so much looks different if they are shooting a league average 36% from 3. We know it’s possible even if 2020 was an outlier year.

In my attempt to turn this into an anti-Thibs rant, this starting lineup is showing tremendous signs of fatigue. Barrett especially. Brunson as well. You lack a superstar but have incredible depth. Use the assets you have.

I know this perspective is subjective, but maybe Thibs needs to answer the questions. Why do you play the same 4 guys when they are clearly exhausted and you have fresh legs on the bench?

I’m just ready for a change.

Someone needs to be the shooting domino that gets the rest of the team rolling, and ideally you have 2 of those guys. Guys like Barrett, Randle, Brunson, Reddish, Quickley and Toppin are all streaky outside shooters who need the momentum of shooting around them. So the team needs to find a guy who can really shoot it without playing himself off the floor defensively when it matters. Bullock and Burks were both that and have never been replaced. Knicks no longer have low maintenance 3&D help, other than grimes which is still theoretical. Those guys aren’t easy to find but are always out there. I’ve suggested Turner as a center alternative option to help with shooting but he’s adding another streak shooter and not really offsetting the problem. If we have shooters who can stay on the floor, we win the last 2 games. But we are at the basement with lakers when it comes to shooting from the outside.

Knicks may have either 2 or 3 first round picks in the 10-18 range this year and maybe they can address the problem, although it’s not easy with rookies. Gradey Dick and Jett Howard are the 2 purest shooters in the draft at this point and will both be available in that range most likely, but can either of them provide major minutes as a rookie? Kel’el Ware is a 3&D center in the Turner mold. But these are more long term fixes as opposed to finding a way to solve now. I think the Knicks screwed up not grabbing Jerami grant this summer when he was cheap. The Knicks have a lot of issues defensively and with inconsistent play from anyone not named Jalen Brunson, but for me the shooting is more frustrating because it prevents any type of real momentum to win these types of games.

Tyrese Haliburton is averaging 20 11 and 5 on 38% from the 3. Good thing we drafted a back-up PF instead of him. This team will never turn it around because they don't draft well.

Seriously, how can any of them be ‘tired’? It’s early in the season, they are young.

My only thought, a concern I had with Thibs from day 1, is the intensity he demands has just burned guys out- and it’s less physical exhaustion and more mental.

Good, weed out the mentally and physically weak. I like it.

Phil had the triangle, Thibs into Eugenics? Oye!

Why do fans excessively attempt to guess and figure this shit out? Whats wrong with Knicks? Simple. We not that good.
We exactly where predicted by many.

We would be stuck with TWO guys who don't rebound or play defense.
Knicks fandom would hate Bogs.
Do agree that with JB and RJ on the team you would need to start looking for a better fit at PF. Right now, they have Randle in a pick and pop role. Also, being kept out of the post to keep middle open for those two. Which I believe is his best role.

Randle created that domino effect last night that was needed from the 3pt line. And grimes broke out so hopefully his shooting is here to stay on most nights. Grimes is so essential to what this team does, but his shooting needs to be there consistently.

pretty sure it was Detroit's shitty defense that did that
