Knicks · OT Timberwolves/ Jazz Trade for Gobert (page 1)

Utah receives Minnesota’s 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029 first round picks and a 2026 first round pick swap. Is this possibly one of the worst trades in NBA history? Gobert is making $38 million, he is 30 yrs old and he really isn't a game changer. With Towns out now for 4-6 weeks , when they already weren't doing great this could be a high lottery pick for this yr plus all these other picks for the future. ARod had a say in this trade I bet. Clueless.

Ainge wanted to do that to us to. Thank goodness the front office did not fall for it like the Wolves.

Then after that goes down, it skewed the entire trade market (I'm looking at you, Donovan).

I hope the experiment is a crash and burn. Hopefully it rights the ship sooner rather than later as teams second guess bundling an absurd number of 1sts in a single deal.

100%. I’ve always felt it was more Minny who screwed over the Knicks chances of some sort of different offer for Donovan but here we are.

If I had to guess who will be the next disgruntled star that wants out, it will probably be either Towns or Antman. And we are in prime position to acquire them.

I doubt that happens anytime soon. Townes just extended and the franchise has been renovated with new ownership/big money GM and coach. They gave him the keys.
If it happens you have to change coach at least once. Its easier.
Also, Edwards looks like shit this year. Is it the weight? Is it the schematic?
And he is not a star. yet. Lets book this moment as year two he looks like a bit of a bust and understand how bad Minny has drafted over the years.
Its not always to blame. Townes was a bonafide 1st. Edwards still too early. Minny is worst team in last 20 years. We second.
For them to trade the would need to look at chemistry with Gorbert. They are about winning now. What can we give them that does that?
And again, won't happen this year. Teams need time to come together.

its incredibly bad and delusional. You make that trade for the player that brings you a title. There was no indication that Gobert was going to do that.

an example of a GOOD "bad" trade... Bucks gave up a lot for Holiday, but he was also clearly the piece they needed.

Not sure after 20 games one can come to a conclusion. Naturally when you start with Giannis and build around, while he gets better and better its far more than Towns and Edwards with D'angelo. Issue is Minny gave up good supporting cast and has to fill that out. Im no Timberwolve expert but you not wroing. It looks bad early on.
Bucks made a great trade to get over the hump. That was the hope when they did it.
The hope had to be it would free up Towns. If so, you have to respect Edwards and Russell. Its not working. Why?

I don't follow Minny and have zero clue how that team fits but I do know it takes a while for this type of change to set in properly.

They've played like 20 games and that's barely starting into the Getting To Know You phase for this type of situation.

they will prolly play well w/o Towns short term and win some games like Utah used to with scoring wings and Rudy wrecking things in the middle. That might help them by having Towns ease into a roll while rehabbing vs. being the guy

Yep, I’ll never forgive the Twolves for that- they’ve screwed up the trade market for at least a couple of seasons. It only takes one idiot. Think of all the better fits they could have gotten for that ridiculous monster package- could have actually addressed their main need (PG), they even could have just traded for D-Mitch!

I do wonder if we end up trading Obi and IQ, salary and picks for KAT in the offseason

I'd imagine either MitchRob or Randle would have to get thrown as well for salary and roster makeup. I wouldn't do it unless you believe Kat and JB could become Malone/Stockton ver 1.5.

Sambakick @ 11/30/2022 9:43 PM
No to KAT.
ramtour420 @ 12/1/2022 8:09 AM
KAT is a no defense player. Big fat pass

Oh, I don't want us to, but I think he's by far the most likely player this front office would target if available.
