Leon and Thibs are homies. Grimes is Thib's new favorite toy. There's no way he's going anywhere unless Anthony Davis comes back

Thibs liked Zach too. And then he traded him for Jimmy Butler.
well yeah... Jimmy was kinda his guy

Thibs is into the MILF category. He'll do the barely legal thing if he has to, but he wants them well matured. A little wear and tear on the knees doesn't hurt.
you know that rep doesnt match what' happening... I see a lot of horsing around with the young guys. He rode Grimes for 40 minutes the other night.

Yeah, he was looking at Grimes, but he was imagining him with Josh Okogie's face.

Honestly pathetic.

Sign Rose - out of the rotation
Sign Fournier - out of the rotation
Trade draft asset for Cam - out of the rotation

The incompetence of management is staggering. When you factor in Kemba and Noel contracts, whiffing on Obi, missing on Halliburton and then using additional draft capital to clear space for Brunson, it’s been a mind numbing 2 offseasons.

Have zero confidence in these guys to execute on any real meaningful moves.

You're entitled to your (very) negative take, but unsurprisingly you do not note that all the players in the rotation were also "signed." As in contracts. Can't play all of them.

Now if you want to p!s$ and moan that Rose should be played over Deuce, Fournier over Grimes, Cam over whomever then go right ahead I say.

Them being out of rotation is on Thibs. I keep saying this but the FO and Thibs relationship is mostly backwards.

No it isn't, it's exactly how this should have played out.

Fournier was an obvious miss as a signing.

We want guys like Grimes, IQ, and McBride and such to be taking away minutes from the likes of Fournier and Rose. This is actually ideal. DRose has literally done has job.

Cam was a risk from the beginning, I think everyone knew that coming in. He missed or mostly hasn't been 100% perfect.

I don't know what your expectations are but batting 100% on every trade, draft, or signing is not realistic. As evidence of this, go look at every team in the NBA.

Pick out any team and you can also demonstrate the same things.

Chandler @ 12/9/2022 2:57 PM
i think of Fournier as more of a calculated risk than a flub. Would people rather have had Hayward at a higher price point?

Everyone makes mistakes. Warrior have 3 lottery picks. Wiseman may be a bust. Moody barely plays and Kuminga is in and out.
Check the Celt's draftingt -- a lot of bombs
Clippers aren't exactly lighitng it up with Kawhi and PG

it's tough to win. We have a bunch of guys who should be ascending. If one or two of them click, e.g., Grimes and IQ, we will make a jump

I like this perspective. A healthy approach to a 50 year rollercoaster disaster but now we have young assets, draft picks and currently a few games from being in the playoff run.

They definitely made mistakes like cam and Obi but they also have a ton of positives. Eventually this FO will make the right move at the right time. I believe that. But I’m not confident in this NY cultural environments patience. And eventually they will all be replaced one by one. That’s what history tells me.

All I can do is root for my man deuce. Hope cam is not traded. And continue winning. Let see if thibs found magic in his 9 now 8 man rotation.

Fourier, Rose, Reddish can't get minutes as a wing or guard, how to you expect to have Rozier get minutes? What's the purpose of that player behind Grimes, McBride, RJ, Brunson to the amount of ~$23M per over 3 remaining years?

I think of the I get your point, it's about the fit. A lot of these same issues came up?in the Mitchell trade. Especially now that Thibs has found success with Deuce and Grimes out playing the vets in front of them.

Thing is, Rozier is really good. Maybe not as good as Mitchell but last season his nbers were close. If the Knicks could get a player of his caliber, age, and on?a team friendly deal, I think you just make the deal and let Thibs figure it out. Granted I'm talking about some combo of Fournier Rose Reddish and DAL DET WAS MIL picks.

9 man rotation JB Rozier RJ Randle Robinson Grimes IQ Hart Deuce (Obi?))

The general shape of the season is pretty clear. Detroit Orlando Houston San Antonio and Charlotte should be all in on the Wembanyama tank. Outside of a bottom five finish, the odds crater significantly (from 5% to 2.5% for number one).I think any veteran on those teams is available for future draft picks. Knicks can't trade for Alex Burks. That leaves:
Bojan Bogdanovic
Terence Ross
Gordon Hayward
Terry Rozier
Eric Gordon

as possible trade candidates. Charlotte is tricky because trading Rozier would be a sign of a complete rebuild rather than an off year.

All these guys are old and have bad contracts and none are even worth thinking about no less thinking about attaching a pick, that’s insanity.

The Knicks are young. If you add a 26yo star, go for it, but those guys are literal mediocre guys in terms of building for future.

Can't recall ever seeing you make a positive post, so going to assume you are a glass half empty type. I see it a different way. Everyone makes mistakes, its how you adjust to those mistakes that defines things. IMO Knicks are in a better place than when this FO took over. Young roster, 500 record and extra draft capital.

Fournier was a miss who will be difficult to move. But he is sitting and not causing waves.

Playing or not, Rose is a mentor for younger players. Trade or otherwise - he has a team option and will not be here next year.

Bringing in JB has been a plus move (although you apparently don't agree)

Playing and winning with young guys like Grimes and Deuce will only increase their experience and value.

For all the accolades that Haliburton gets, the Pacers and Knicks are only separated by one game in the standings.

If we had an onerous contract to unload, this might be the way to go. Fortunately that hasnt been the case for a surprisingly long stretch.

Was a big fan of Russell's, but he didnt turn into the floor general he appeared to be early on.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and D’Angelo Russell may be on the verge of a split if the star guard’s recent social media activity is any indication. According to a Wolves news page on Twitter, the veteran guard is no longer following the team’s official account on Instagram.

I don't think Thibs would want him. Doesn't play defense or attack the rim. He is a tough shotmaker tho and I still remember the stretch he had carrying the Nets to the playoffs.

You're probably right, was thinking more of his expiring contract to create cap space. But we dont have a bad contract that makes it necessary. The last really bad deal was Noah.

Nalod @ 1/6/2023 9:24 AM

DRussel is expiring and likly told that if it don’t work out he won’t be getting an extension. They Have a solid trio. KAT has been injured and AntMan is going thru growing pains. But he is their future, Kat is the present, and Rudy is the Rock. Half a season and with injuries is not time to make an indictment, but they are and should be playoff bound. KAT has been out the last month.
As for Russell as a knick? If we are dumping EF salary then perhaps we go there. Drose? He been there and might be some vet goodness there. How Russell fit here? You talking about taking IQ’s minutes? Can Thibs and Bryant restore him to a better player at a lower cost? Kid is talented.
Doubt there is any traction with us. I can see him in swapped for Lavert, but Im far too removed to begin any logic there.
Chandler @ 1/6/2023 10:39 AM

i am an admittedly biased RJ fan. That said, i like(d) him most at the 2, but Grimes is really solidifying that role and fits better with JR and JB.

I could imagine RJ to the Raptors who are not clicking.

He's been putting up numbers that would justify the Raps making a trade, in addition to being from there. I also prefer RJ at the 2, also agree that we're set at the 2. Might even have a logjam.

I believe this would be the one team where RJ would welcome a trade. Being the face of the Raps, and Toronto. Barrett has earned it.

Don’t ever trade with Ujiri……ever. Say it, mean it, live it

Alpha1971 @ 1/6/2023 10:42 PM
I'd trade for Josh Hart. Then we would have Hart and Heartenstein.
