Knicks · Kyle Kuzma Trades (page 2)

lets not forget he did well while in Boston for a short spell. What ever the reasoning he has had some good games here but he does not thrive in the Thibian universe.
It happens. Reddish was a flyer on a weak CLT pick that is heavy protected. Not everything works out.
Knicks are moving in the right direction on and off the court with a young core mostly we drafted.
Imagine such a thing a few years ago? We talked about it.I think the Lakers might want IQ in order to do that deal. If that's the case... pass. Fournier has been quiet and I have no issues keeping in the bench until the right trade comes along.
Nope. EF is better than either of those two and its about wanting him in that line as a shooter. Straight up 2 for one for players they are not really using as I understand.
If there is a throw in its Reddish. My take is knicks will want something in return.
Lakers have few choices and while EF is not the guy that puts them over the top he'll get good open looks. Bogdonovich on Pistons i have read is possible.
In both cases knicks or pistons have no needs in return. Pistons are tanking and we trying to get to playoffs.
I doubt Westbrick is in our plan unless its the "Randle and EF for Westbrick". that was so 3 weeks ago!!! LOL

No doubt Fournier is better than those 2. But my understanding is that the Lakers are also trying to create cap space and Fournier is going to eat into that. I don't see Fournier being good enough for them to change that strategy unless the Knicks throw in a better sweetener. It sounds like the Knicks reached out about a Founier and Cam deal and the Lakers politely hung up without laughing.

I think the lakers are thinking they can trade for Fournier to add a little shooting while also gaining an asset to their bare cupboard for another deal. Have their cake and eat it too. Knicks obviously aren’t doing that. Knicks will always be in the drivers seats with these deals. They have the assets and the surplus of rotation players. They don’t have to make a deal.

The guy I still think the Knicks should target is OG Anunoby. Good guess that he isn't on market in any way, know he has got 1 extra year after this and player option. Toronto has a lot of decisions to make over the next 2+ years with their roster, maybe this can shake out. Definitely a guy you would have to back-channel to convince to force his way to Knicks.
High level role player type. All defensive team type guy. Solid SF. Not deficient offensively. Can play small ball PF easily. Fits team style perfectly. Super long, gets in passing lanes just like IQ, Grimes, McBride.
I'd give up just a little less than what was in the Donovan package but still keep the substantial stuff on table for that type player. He is 25.
OG is having quite a year. Wish we had a chance before the season. Id give up this years pick (unprotected) for him at this point. But he basically takes Barrett’s spot.

Honestly he would probably take Grimes’ spot. He is a defensive stopper. If the Knicks added a scorer who didn’t play D like Levine than he would replace Barrett. You have to have that defensive wing in the lineup. Grimes is ours. OG would be treated as an upgrade over him. But I’m talking a hypothetical where neither go out in a trade. I don’t see a scenario where RJ gets replaced generally unless it’s for a superstar.

Why? Grimes is a SG, both RJ & OG are SF's. Both OG and Grimes are defensive stoppers and when you have both on the floor, they would be terror on the opponent, unlike what RJ does.
I don't understand your reasoning

I agree. But the fact remains that RJ is probably a negative asset right now and Grimes is easier to move, though I wouldn't be in an immediate rush to move Grimes. If OG did come here, I'd think the FO would likely move RJ down to the 2. I haven't watched OG in a while, but he wasn't much of a creator in the halfcourt last year. Anything more than a few dribbles and it became an adventure. RJ, for all his faults, can get downhill and drive inside. He might not always hit the shot or kick out to the open shooter, but those are skills he can hopefully build on. I think you'd need those type of players around OG (hopefully ones that do it at a higher level than what RJ is doing now.)

Love OG. Every team needs a player like that. What would Knicks do with RJ?
Still believe that the Knicks will roll with RJ, Randle and JB this year
Therefore, would rather get more and shoot 3pt shooters around them. Think Grimes was that plan as well as JB. But Grimes has struggled and JB has always been more of a pound the ball guard.
Would actually like to see Bogdan(Hawks) somehow traded for EF and a pick.
But not sure how Hawks value both.
Also like Gary Trent Jr. But feel we already have a jam with those type of guards.
I am on the side that Knicks will mainly look to unload Rose, EF and Cam but not really make a big splash in adding considerable game changing talent.
SergioNYK wrote:Why would Toronto trade OG? I would think he'd be the one to keep next to Barnes. I think Siakim and FVV would be first to go if they decide to rebuild.
They will have to make tough decisions next couple of years. OG will be due a big pay day after next season. They have solid players but record is below .500 despite Siakam, OG, Van and Barnes playing big minutes.
Some think Pascal, who already has big financial commitment, and OG are too similar and a bad fit.
Think it's mostly rumors from the disgruntled. They are both solid pieces.

My assumption was an RJ/OG swap, or at least that would be the baseline. For me, OG for Grimes is pointless; those 2 guys are the same thing, it's RJ who is not.

I'm cool with letting Grimes shoot out of his slump. He showed he can hit from the NBA level last year and he's showing more facets to his game. Did you see that missed tip dunk from last game? I feel adding guys like who are already getting paid just clogs the cap and prolongs the mediocrity.

Does RJ and an unprotected get it done? I don't think so and two unprotected firsts are out of the question for me at this point.

Knicks a slew of picks to choose from, so it's hard to say how that would shake out.
I think someone like Rokas would be a really good fit for Toronto, so he would be included IMO. He fits that international flavor they got going on. Fairly well known player, at least in terms of playing at a higher level than NCAA. He would be cost controlled. Malachi Flynn and VanVleet are your PG options right now? Rokas would be a really solid 3rd PG in case resigning those guys don't work out.
Again, Toronto probably doesn't have as much of a budget as most teams and they are looking down the barrel of lots of extensions. I have zero clue what RJ would mean for their team in types of marketing but I'd guess it's light years ahead of where OG is.

I'd rather give up the Detroit protected pick than Rokas and I think Toronto might prefer it. But it is Masai, so he'd probably demand both plus an unprotected. The marketing thing is interesting, but Barnes and RJ in the same lineup? I dunno.

Agree about letting Grimes shoot it out. Easy to get into a mild slump after not playing and having high expectations.

In my ardent defense of all things RJ.......

Makes me think about RJ's ceiling and fans discount his age?
I don't see where we are sending picks for this guy.
Siakim, Barnes and OG are all about the same size and all very good.
How would OG fit with Randle? How much money is he projected to make? He does not shoot long better than RJ.
Or rebound. Or assists. PER is a work in progress for both.
And he is three years older. Where is RJ in three years?

Those RealGM comparisons don’t make sense to me and don’t have context (like volume).
I don’t know where you are getting your data from if it doesn’t tell you that OG shoots light years better than RJ from distance, or from really anywhere.
RJ does stuff in volume, that’s it.

Russell was Gersson Rosas’s biggest coup during his ill-fated stint as Timberwolves president. Now that Rossas is with the Knicks as a team consultant, will he go after Russell to make up for the foiled Donovan Mitchell trade?
