Any Avenue towards improvement goes through bench or a legit 6 th man.
You probably just jinxed it lol. One of Grimes or Brunson will sit soon

I’m not sure what to make of it. Seemingly we are back on the path of two years ago. I like the idea of bagdonovich(sp) that ewinglass had as a 6 th man. Might as well go for it and try to improve/ win big now.

Knowing thibs he’s not changing anything any time soon. And I agree. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Now we have some chemistry to build. And consistent rotations and PT helps. Shout out to thibs for finding the right recipe for success.

oooh!!!! Let me help!
First you draft some guys. Then you draft some more, then you draft some more after that.
Sometimes they good, other times not... key is
coach them up and be patient. After a few years invested in that patience they show improvement and chemistry.
Sometimes winning will follow!
(I bolded the part you struggle with to help)

Although it’s unreasonable to think everyone stays healthy for every game, yes you’re right, this starting unit has been phenomenal. I am far from disappointed with Quickley, as he has developed nicely overall, but he was supposed to be that scoring guard/ 6th man to take the pressure off our big 3. While he is 4th in scoring overall, somewhere along the way we lost that player who was taking over games as a rookie, knocking down clutch threes and getting to the line at will. The rule changes prevent his continuations like before, and he hasn’t adjusted. But I’m not saying we move him or anything. I still see him as a core piece, just not that 6th man who takes over when needed. Knicks need a big wing or forward for that role off the bench. Kuzma and Oubre have been tossed around and that’s the idea. Guys who can give us offense at any given time and not give it up on the other end. If we have Oubre or kuzma, than if either Barrett or Randle misses time it’s an easily plug and play at either forward spot. That’s probably the next step here.

Obi. This dude should be a focal point of bench offense but just hasn't taken it.

Yeah I’ve been hoping but I haven’t seen it. And if his offense is just going to be spotting up and leaking out, we won’t get that. Obi still has no real moves.

my game picker is tragic now because I'm worried to start picking them to win. It hurts, but feeling good about the team.

The results are the results. I had high expectations for Thibs when he came here. Then I started to lose faith in Thibs. But he is doing everything I complained about (not playing the yoots, change up the lineup, fix the rotation, and play the young defensive guys (Deuce/Sims). And the results speaks for itself. As you said, I have to trust the process.
Now my focus is on Sims vs Hart. If Hart can't make a shot, Sims is in the background waiting his turn.

HaHaHa - was just thinking same thing.
Now starting line-up won’t last 3 games.

Knicks name Jimmer Freddette starting point guard...
I like our starting unit. With Grimes in there, we have a true defensive stopper (RJ was not a stopper). Grimes’ shot is starting to fall. Once RJ and Randle develop the trust that they can just pass to Grimes for the 3, instead of forcing up a shot against 2-3 defenders, this offense will start to really hum. While Grimes has made a huge difference, another big reason for the turnaround is RJ and Randle are hitting a higher percentage of their shots. That is what killed us earlier in the season.

this is good and I am with you on this. I love Sims getting the quick Obi minutes. The young guards look for him and he and McBride have a thing. He's a wild defender and very active offensively setting picks and screens. Like REALLY active. Great DPOY like Tyson Chandler and Ben Wallace were super active on offense doing these things. Sim's has an outlier physical profile. Just keep coaching him up and with his work ethic I think he's gonna break through also.
I think Sim's play is putting healthy pressure on Obi and Hart

Obi is too nice for his own good and his lack of confidence to put the ball on the floor even in a little bit of traffic is glaring. Plus still no mid-range game to speak of.
Not sure if some of the confidence is on Thibs because he seemingly goes thru the roof if Obi makes a poor decision or if it’s all on Obi.
He seems a perfect fit where the ball is moving and hitting him in different spots on the floor but what we have him doing (or what he’s doing lately) is lacking.

Focal point is IQ. And you’re questioning my basketball background?
It was clear who the FO felt the focal point was in IQ regarding the 2nd unit. Then rose came along. Obi since college was always dependent on a solid passer which rose filled that roll. Then IQ shared the Obi love.
We have multiple 6th man player types in IQ and Obi.
I would still look to move RJ for an upgrade at the SF position
and we're one injury to McBride or Grimes or heck even Randle and an 8 game losing streak has right back where we started.
