Knicks can look at upperclassman with this pick or a buy-low freshman who falls due to certain red flags. An upperclassman to watch here is Colby jones. He’s going to be a solid nba rotation wing and fits the mold of what Knicks have drafted for thibs.

No worries, Luka typically misses about 20 games a season, he just hasn't gotten there yet

You do realize the Pick is Lottery protected and this being the double draft the chances of getting a good player in the teens or twenties is really good, especially given this regime's draft record so far.
If they get into the lottery we get nothing this year and likely a significant drop in talent next year, which is expected to be a weak draft.

To be sure, top 10 protected.

It’s top 10 protected, and what do you mean by double draft? High school players aren’t allowed to go pro yet. That was the whole double draft concept that was thrown around awhile back. This is just a normal draft.

ahhh!!! you are right.
Was so busy with work the last few months did not catch this was changed...
bummer.. since we have so many picks this year, but some of those picks will not convey.

We need Washington to get hot again and get their pick out of top 14.

There’s a good chance we would have multiple firsts in the next few drafts. We are unlikely to use them all but so many ways to improve. When you look at the East, there aren’t really a lot of young up and coming teams that are close to rising. Maybe with exception of Indiana. Boston, Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Philly and Cleveland are the teams at the top. Only Boston and Cleveland have young cores. The rest are sort of competing in tight championship windows in the next few years. Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Washington and Atlanta have all plateaued and don’t have the means to get better the way the Knicks do. The teams at the bottom have a long climb unless they end up with wembanyama. There’s huge opportunity for the Knicks to move up into the top group in coming years.

That's how I see it too. This team is set to compete over the next four seasons. All players are young so most should show natural improvements, while Randle likely peaks. The key to playoff success is solid team defense. Hopefully we can dream:

2023 1st round
2024 2nd
2025 Conference Finals
2026 NBA Finals

We need them to make and win the play-in. Even the bad teams in the league aren't really that horrible and a couple of games could shift the lottery landscape. Or the playoff landscape. I have confidence that the Washington big 3 can hang around with the Bulls and make interesting. Atlanta is going through their issues as well. Let's go Wiz!

Boston and maybe Milwaukee are the teams we have to either beat or wait out!

We need RJ to become something better than many of us think is his ceiling.

IQ just needs to absorb JB’s savvy and he could be better than we hoped RJ could ever be, but I think that is wishful thinking.

I really hope we can find some definitive game changers in the draft to improve the team, because I just don’t feel like we have enough right now to beat either.

Good chance. They have the easiest schedule.

I think we are in a great position. We might not have a shot at the top blue chip talent, but our volume allows us to just scout for 1) BPA 1A)Players who fit our culture 2)Guys who can just play

We have seen really good work so far here. I think our FO will find guys who can play, and hopefully we get a lucky and it turns out they can REALLY play. Grimes would surely be this type. We just missed on Maxsey but may have done just fine w/ IQ

Dallas is interesting. No incentive to tank unless they can get into top 10. Making the playoffs and the revenue is important.
Do they buy? Need to keep Luka happy and not wear his ass out either.
Best we can do is 11th pick. Still nice. But they tank below we out.
Im sure most of you know the pick is top 10 protected.
fishmike @ 1/27/2023 11:47 AM
what is this from? The KP trade? Its top 10 protected next 3 years and if they ever get Luka some help they will be a top team. If this year's pick ends up in the late teens or god forbid late lottery we got super lucky and should be able to get a good player.

You know -- "the worst trade ever." Mocked and rued incessantly by media and fans. The one that opened cap space for us to sign Randle and Morris who became Quickley. And part of getting us Grimes, Deuce. and Rokas (I know that's fuzzy math). And a pick to come.

But we did lose Timmy Jr. And the opportunity to heckle KP in his street clothes.

This is what KP meant when he told us to stay woke'.

Imagine if we didn’t sign all those shitty contracts and didn’t have to give away Jalen Duren whose going to be a star for 10 years in this league.

Im happy with Brunson over Jalen Duren. We would have drafted him and you would be same guy saying "we have Randle and Obi and Mitch and drafte Jalen Duran, our FO has NO PLAN AND NO DIRECTION"

You are literally that guy.

Knicks doing pretty good. Hopefully Duran is a star, then we get their first rounder if they actually win some games... you know with all their stars
