Knicks · Jalen Brunson has overall been great (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 12/24/2022 6:40 AM
But last two games he’s really been bothered by length. He also looks a tad tired. I wonder if teams are going to continue to crowd him w 6-4/6-5 guys

Like any time a great player has had a tough stretch of games, he will adjust.

Said that in other threads. Takes away his game close to the basket. ALSO has trouble when he is defensed the length of the court.

Problem is not that he has an off game, problem is that he continues to force his offense when he does. No reason he should have taken 15 shots last night. Especially when RJ and Randle had it going. PGs have to read the floor better and feed the hot hands. He was not one of them last night.
Also, He has been a terrific free throw shooter but he choked last night. Probably due to bad night he was having. Know he will bounce back.

GustavBahler @ 12/24/2022 8:43 AM
Surprised no one is noticing that JB has looked at least a half step slower last 2 games. Brunson wasnt pushing the tempo. Wasnt getting to the rim like he usually does. Dont believe it has to do with the matchups. Dont believe his numbers would take a dive so fast. JB doesnt look like he's 100 percent.

Agree. I think in general he has to do better as a floor general and finding the open man.

Philc1 @ 12/24/2022 11:16 AM
Agree, Thibs is Jimmy Butler’ing him. Plus why is he on the floor for end of game defensive possessions?

Basically if I summarize your post Panos, your saying he has to be a better PG? Correct

Also if he laces up and he’s on the floor, he’s healthy enough to help us win games, so I can can’t l blame his performance on injuries. He’s no rookie and he signed a major contract. My guess is if he was hurt enough where he will hurt our chances of winning, he would sit.

franco12 @ 12/24/2022 11:54 AM
I think he is gassed. Thibs needs to try to manage better?

Would it be terrible to sit him a game? Give him a 3-5 day stretch off?

Don’t sit him but play Rose once in a while

But that goes against Thibs magical 9 man rotation. What’s next? Put cam and EF back in the rotation? 🤣

MS @ 12/24/2022 2:02 PM
He’s been awesome and playing through a pain.

He’s an all star and his contract is very reasonable typical NBA guy job.

Classic run the players into a the ground coaching. It’s ok to stager some minutes. Have to keep the players fresh and it’s ok to use guys like you use Deuce.

Sure, you can say that. Basically I'd love to see him making some smarter passes instead of being in scoring mode most of the time. But I'm a little old school that way. I feel most of his passes are more of the vanilla variety, where the recipient still needs to work for his basket instead of being set up to score.

You guys have noticed that when DRose has been given a chance over past few games he has looked not so good even though he is well rested?

Knicks need to play IQ more.

Here are his 9 assists from yesterday. Maybe the one to Quickly is impressive. The rest are garden variety passes someone behind the 3 PT line once he meets a double team. No court vision necessary. No hitting of cutters.

Brunson plays hard and takes a beating every game. I’m not worried I just wish we could give him a few days off to heal.

I’m with you. Rose hasn’t looked very good. I love his presence, but he seems a bit off on the court.

Is he finished? Still recovering? Trying to find a rhythm?

Time to bring Rokas?

We finally have a play-maker closer PG in Jalen Brunson.
Brunson has been Knicks top CLOSER in the 8 game win streak.
Especially when McBride received 16 or more minutes as Brunson backup the Knicks won.
In the last two Knicks losses McBride minutes were reduce to 14 and 10

The big problem was those two Knicks losses was the end games of playing 4 games in 6 days (Hard)
Bruson played 39 minutes vs Raptors, and 38 minutes vs Bulls.
Brunson did not try to speed up the temple or take charge of the tempo in either game, I guess the 8 game win streak took a lot out of Brunson .. And our coach ....

Caseloads @ 12/24/2022 11:35 PM
We need a big PG in this draft, our urgent need.
