Hey gang, any insight on Trevor Keels? I haven't seen anything on him since the draft. What are we thinking about this kid?
He's averaging 10 points a game in G-League. On 35% shooting.

Off topic, but I caught the last video where you went to the auction with beer mug collection. Good stuff. I prolly would've dropped some dough if I was there.
Knicks fans often get wildly optimistic about second round picks. This Keels guy has not led anyone to get hyped. Which may mean he is a future league MVP. Am I right folks, see what I did there ha ha, am I right ? Keels MVP MVP MVP.
Most of us are not equipped to properly access this kids potential. 19 years old and a second round pick.
Odds are not good given this draft position. As a fan its easy to then peg him as not going anywhere and some how feel good about ones self?
Like all knick players, I hope he astounds us in the future.
He has work to do.

You don't have to be Jerry West to see that if a kid is struggling this much in the G-League, than his NBA are low.

A glimpse of his stats or are you watching him?
What is he working on? How many times do we see in this knick culture guys struggle then hit a new level of play?
Is trevor struggling with his defense and it affecting his shooting? Is he taking a lot of shots? He is trying more playmaking duties and getting messed up making decisions? We saw this with IQ. No two are alike.
LIke I said, second rounders in large don’t make it. LIke I said, most of us are not equipped to render an opinion. Yet you took a stab at it with not facts other than a glimpse of his stats. True 19 year old.
Don’t have to be Jerry West or any great scout to see he is not starting in the NBA killing it. Likely knicks took a flyer long term on this kid. With our plethora of picks we can afford to.
Wouldn't expect him to be helping this year and he was a raw project to begin with. Easy to have high expectations after a year where we hit McBride, Rokas and Sims in the 2nd round and you have two of those guys playing solid defense in the rotation and one showing really positive signs in Europe.
Keels is a shooter. Get him in shape, make a playmaker, and play defense takes time. It will mess up his shot also.
Are his coaches happy with his progress?

The numbers say a lot. There are projections of a prospect's NBA value based off his G-League stats. The advent of the G-League Ignite and the age of the prospects coming into the league throw a wrinkle in these projections, but I'm guessing that it doesn't change things by much. Not that you need numbers to tell you that if a prospect sucks in the G-League, he's probably going to suck in the NBA. The eye test more than backs it up. Even in the few games I watched where he played decently I still wasn't seeing it. Heck, McBride scores less than Donald Trump without Viagra when he's on the big club. But he absolutely CRUSHES the G-League. Maybe Keels is a couple of years away and he'll show he can be an end of the bench guy. But, realistically, how many NBA teams invest that much time and energy on a late second round pick?

Yeah I was hopeful he would develop into a 2-way wing who could make the team next year. Seems like it will be an uphill climb to become an nba player. And most 2nd round picks don’t make it.
It's no worries, Keels is in the diet and get-in-shape part of his program.
There are no stats for that!

If Jericho says he's cool, then case closed. Jericho rarely speaks, but he makes sure to make his words count when he does.

"Jerry" looks baked.......
From what I remember, he was a highly touted high school prospect that sucked at Duke. He was supposed to be a whole lot more so I think the Knicks straight up gambled on him.
I agree with the sentiment that we would know by now if pick worked out.
Don’t we have 93 picks to make this year? Normally I’d say give him some runway to prove himself, but my guess is he’s off the roster in the offseason

15 gleague games for a 19 year old and we would know by now? Kid could shoot. one don't have be astute to say 42nd pick is no lock to make the big show. he was signed two way and never was going to play up. First game in Gleauge he goes for 25pts. I know, he "Suppose to". Bit erratic and last few games no so good.
INjury? Told to work on other things? I don't know.
Heard same thing about Griffin in ATL and we should not have taken him. Kid looks damn good as a rook. another 19 year old Dukie.
Keels? Lost risk high reward.

Should have transferred schools like Grimes did.
Patience isn't in the DNA of many if not most Knick fans, but it's a solid philosophical virtue to go with development on an organizational level. Keels looks easy to snark on and his future is real iffy but maybe the FO sees something.
