3 Moves at the deadline that I’d consider unlocking some assets for:
1) Toppin & Rose & Picks to Indiana for Myles Turner
2) Fournier & Picks to Toronto for Anunoby
3) Hart & 2nd to Phoenix for Crowder
Brunson/McBride
Barrett/IQ
Anunoby/Grimes
Randle/Crowder
Turner/Robinson
I think that’s the best I can do with guys in talks.
I'm not a fan of Myles Turner @ all; whatsoever.
8th year in the league but yet he's shown absolutely no development/progression in comparison to his Rookie Year and/or 2nd season. He's the same exact player today as he was coming into the league.
He's all hype. And has never helped Indiana advance past the 1st round of the Playoffs.
I was once a big time believer in Turner and thought he'd develop into a perennial All-Star Center. But I was wrong. 8 years later but yet 0 All-Star selections. Nor any development to his game.
I'd much rather continue to A.) Start Mitchell Robinson and B.) Continue the development of Obi Toppin.
I'd really love the addition of OG Anunoby because I think he'd complete our roster
Really hard for me to see how the cost for OG would equal the benefit of the upgrade. The story of the season has been Thibs removing Fournier/ Cam from the rotation and sticking with Grimes and RJ at the 3 spot. OG would be an upgrade over Barrett but RJ's contract makes it difficult to trade him and the general consensus is that RJ will continue to develop. I don't see Thibs increasing the rotation as we go into the home stretch.
Even trading Rose or Fournier seems iffy. I think both guys are pretty solid to have as potential backups in case of injury.
Just need improve our bench. Grayson Allen is the one I want.
I’m just waiting for that trade to add a wing to improve the rotation. Anunoby on the high side, although I see that more likely during the draft. As far as the bench, I’m keeping an eye on Grayson Allen, Josh Hart and Alex Caruso. All would fit nicely as essentially 7th man with IQ, Toppin and Hartenstein.
Ujiri will likely ask for more than Fournier and picks. RJ, IQ, Grimes, one of them would probably have to be part of the deal. Doubt Ujiri would be that accomodating.

I’m not giving up any of the valuable young guys. Toppin is as far as I go. It’s pick compensation or no deal. Rose’s non guaranteed deal, Toppin and picks. Just can’t go further for a guy who is still closer to role player than star.

Crowder is sitting out cause in part he wanted to start and have that role to get his next contract.
Individual players aside, I don't think teams trade for players that will be UFA's for picks in the way you suggest. Hard to tell what you mean by picks though cause that's super ambiguous.
Essentially you are trading for 2 guys at end of contract and 1 guy who has a year left. Downside risk of those guys is just not fitting in or getting a massive contract from another team too much to trade "picks"

This. Not to mention he will be due a pay raise.

Isn't Obi our best 3 point shooter? I would think twice
I don't know if this team is one part away from being a consistently good team or not- but- I would want:
Jerami Grant (just rejected the Blazer's offer)
DeMar DeRozan
Bojan Bogdanovic
Kyle Kuzma
I'd like to think we could put a nice package together - potentially 3 first round picks this year (ours, Washington, Dallas). Obi, Fournier, Cam - they may not be in our rotation, but they're not slouches.

That + Picks comment is whatever you make of it. I left it purposefully vague. I don’t think either gets traded without draft pick compensation. Yeah, I’d want better diligence on whether guys are willing to re-sign. Both are guys I would re-sign and make key components of the team.
In terms of Crowder, I am just moving Hart for a SF. Clips can do that for us too.

If you are watching the games than you will notice Brunson, grimes, Randle and Quickley at minimum are all shooting it better these days.

What about OG other than his defense and him playing on Toronto and not New York makes him such an upgrade over Barrett that it's is such a given?

Good thought put into these.
Fear would be that we would give up draft picks and make lateral moves.
Watching those players the last few years, gives me pause to think they would move the needle much.
I would prefer moving Rose, EF and Cam for anything in return.
Wait until off-season to use our picks to improve position in draft or get a TRUE difference maker.
OG and Caruso.
Resign Quickly.
Obi only figure it out with playing time and a point guard. That’s why you shouldn’t move him to the Pacers.
If you can slot OG into the Grimes slot and bring him off the bench and get him so more looks in the second unit we will be much better. Our defense with. Caruso, Grimes and Quick we would be a tough out.
I would like to get OG for Fournier and 2 protected picks that the knicks don't own(Dallas' or Wizards or is it Detroit's?) and maybe another 1st rounder that the knicks own. Move Grimes to the bench together with Deuce and IQ in the backcourt.
Just to beef up the bench, trade Cam for Greyson Allen, if they can still trade for OG, Grimes goes to the bench IQ takes the back up PG with Allen. Deuce will sit for now.
Starters: Mitch, Randle, OG, RJ, Jalen
Bench: Sims, hart, Allen, Grimes, IQ
Obi might join Fournier in the trade to Toronto to get OG.
Can the knicks flip Hart to the clippers for a back up PF?
If OG doesn't workout he might still be a future asset to get the next star. He is not a superstar bit he might help this knicks team to get out of the 1st round of the playoffs.

Totally agree that OG and Caruso is a dream scenario. Obviously I doubt we get both at the deadline. But I can see one at the deadline and 1 in the offseason. And if we only get 1 and not the other that’s okay too. Caruso brings a lot of what OG brings but smaller and less scoring ability. But cost will likely be Rose and a 1st vs OG costing so much more. There’s metrics that show Caruso as the bench defensive player in the league. And Rose restructuring his contract as part of a trade and going back to Chicago to finish his career makes too much sense. Bulls don’t have a 1st rounder this year. So I’ll offer Rose and the lesser of the 2 picks this year.

Thing is, guys like Devin Booker who already arrived aren’t available. And we don’t want to pay the price for guys like Mitchell when they are. Today, OG I think is slightly better, longer and more athletic than Barrett and has a lower usage. I don’t think OG replaces Barrett, I slot Barrett back to SG and have a big lineup.
I think Barrett’s size advantage at SG will benefit the Knicks more and I think his footwork is more important than his overall foot speed.
With Brunson/Barrett/Anunoby/Randle/Turner, I think you have about 35% shooting from all 5 positions and strong defense from all but PG. and even there I think Brunson is making strides just doesn’t have the length I wish he had.
If you could get me Mikal Bridges or some other SF that is further developed, I’m listening, but I don’t there is anyone remotely discussed as available.
Look deeper at Anunoby’s hustle stats and advanced stats. He’s legit. The Knicks blew the last draft missing out on Tari Eason who could have filled that role and slot for cheap and now they should pay the price and fill it correctly.
Honestly I know he’s older but he has three good years left.
Fournier, a 1st, McBride for Bogedanivic. He can get 20 he gives us more shooting at a lower cost and you can move Grimes to the bench and still have picks to take a swing on wings in the draft. He also can create and it would give the team a lot of versatility.
Instantly makes us a contender in the east, elevated the bench unit
Also like being able to run the following lineups.
Mitch, Randle, Bogey, Grimes, Brunson
IQ, Barrett, Toppin, bogey, Isiah.
