The issue isn’t Quick or Grimes (who is struggling from 3) — the problem IMO is RJ.
He is a brutal defender..brutal and he has one of the more selfish (blinders on) offensive games in the league. He moves like a slug on both ends —- seems like a good kid but man he can’t and/or doesn’t defend.
He apparently refused to speak with the media tonight after rightly being benched in Q4 - again IMO.

I love over rooting for home drafted players and I struggle mightily with RJ since last year.
Drafted players are a fan's sports "children."
I'd swear he was a better defender before this year. Pretty sure I mentioned this earlier in the season, but I think RJ is too heavy. I'd go for the lean body and quickness...I'm saying get rid of 15 lbs, at least.

YEP - if he was in Miami he’d be in shape enough to move those slow feet faster but he looks painfully slow this year. He actually worked hard year 1 but he seems to have mostly stopped caring defensively this year.
RJ gonna have to watch this play in film session over and over and over again, you can almost hear Thibs swearing about it from here.

I tried League Pass a couple of years ago, and it was usually unwatchable on my laptop.

Randle is proving why he isnt a number one or two option.
Nice to see Quickley getting some run at SG.
Games like this, where Brunson gets the #^$;@#& kicked out of him. Shows why its important to build a contender ASAP.
Grimes highlight plays are almost always passes. Grimes had a nice attempt to take it to the rim late in the game, but was stopped. He was operating from the wing.
Believe part of the reason why Grimes is having trouble generating offense, is that there isnt as much room to operate on the wing, especially if you cant post up (yet). Grimes's handle isnt there yet. Quickley's handle is good enough to operate with less room.
Why I would like to see Thibs experiment with Grimes at PG. He would have more room to operate. He has one of the quickest first steps in the league. Wether its from a pick, or just blowing by a defender, Grimes will get into the paint faster than anyone on the team. I also believe he has shown the read and react skills to make the right decision once he gets in the paint. Would also force him to show a floater.
Nice to see Hart putting more points on the board. He's really improving his glue guy role. "Krazy glue".

Both RJ and Randle could have played it better as a unit, but go to full screen and watch. As Russ makes comes up Lebron sets a low screen. Watch the legs. He lines up his knee with RJ where it seems he is literally screening RJ's legs with his own. Right as Russ makes his move right, Lebron steps forward and cause RJ to lose his balance because he pushed his right leg with his knee as he was turning left to defend the drive.
One thing I noticed the refs let the Lakers get away with A LOT of moving screens. there was one play Davis was literally chasing someone to screen them like 3 times.

I think Randle got bamboozled because that wasn't a regular screen. Lebron half screened RJ (if Russ went left Lebrons legs would have tripped RJ). Since he went right, Lebron's knee threw RJ off balance because he stepped forward and pushed RJ's leg with his knee just as Russ made his move, which is why it looked like RJ tripped over nothing.
Don't mistake this for me blaming Randle. I just found this funny. Randle is what he is. It is on the coach to stop putting Randle in places where he is going to fail. We know Randle sucks in the clutch. Yet Thibs constantly goes to him in the clutch. So at some point you have to stop blaming Randle and blame the person who should know better by now. I meant he keeps tells us to watch tape and constantly makes the same mistakes.

Wow! RJ Barrett annd Randle outside defense and foot movement STUNK on defense in the vid.
Also McBride being in the paint area not set up to force an offensive foul having more than enough time.
