Did y'all notice that first (?) 3-pointer he took tonight from like 8 feet behind the 3pt line? His confidence right now is off the charts.

His confidence reminds of when Bernard King went on a tear after the all star break. King had back-to-back 50 point games. Randle is playing with that type of confidence.

I remember - a beautiful thing to see. Not the same players obviously but King had his ups and downs as well. Perhaps a warrior constitution is what they have in common. That and orange and blue.

Julius Randle is having one of the most dominant seasons within New York Knicks Franchise History.

25.1 Points.
10.6 Rebounds.
4.1 Assists.
FG%.464%.
173 3's made.
21.2 Player Efficient Rating.

This is actually a much more dominant (overall) performance than even Carmelo Anthony's 2012-2013 season (when Melo won the scoring title @ 28.7 PPG).

Unless he takes us to the ECF or at least a hard-fought second round exit, all this is but glorified Loy Vaught stuff.

I always hated the idea of dumping him for a bag of potatoes, but the sell high thought feels very tempting.

It would have to be only for a guy who made their conference finals, right?

Or wouldn't the logic collapse under its own weight?

What do you propose? If I sell a stock I get cash. Do I buy another stock? If not, I got cash. I Trade randle, what do I have?
Randle was a FA, so the cost basis was nothing. cap Space came from KP trade.
What do you think comes in return?
Randle is not a top 5 player and he don't carry one to the finals. He is not a generational type talent. He is not paid like one.
You can get Beal, and that 250mm contract. Im sure he'd come with other assets but that money coming in won't equate.
Picks? Thats a different timeline.
He is not Jordan, Kobe, lebron (Prime) or Ewing.

The production you get from Randle at the price the Knicks are paying him is a downright bargain. Who are you trading him for?

its so stupid. 2x all star being underpaid, prime of his career and continues to get better. "Unless he gets us past the 2nd round" its so silly

Best part about Jules is he passes. He finds teammates. Is this team not allowed to grow and build chemistry?

Right now, for no one, because the trade deadline has passed.

Going forward: for almost any top 10-15 star or a younger player on a trajectory to become a top 10 guy, depending on who becomes available. Or even a top draft prospect this season like Wemba.

The production you get from Randle fluctuates from one season to another, hence he continues to be a highly speculative bet.

The playoffs will be the ultimate litmus test, provided he can remain healthy. So far, he has only shown he could be a regular season stud, an inconsistent one at that.

Okay.

Who?

How about some names, along with the rational for why their team trades him for Randle?

Right... there's only like 10 right? Who are getting? Giannis? Joker? Tatum? Jalen Brown? Jah? Embiid? Luka? Kahwi? Paul George? Fox? Randle smokes Sabonis every time they play... does he count? Randle is what? 27? 28? You got years left of this level play. Years.

Thing with Randle, that has dissolved any doubts I have that he can be a key piece to a title contending team is he shares the ball. We arent living and dying by Randle's jumper. He passes and does other things with its not falling. So does Brunson for that matter and we can win with other guys.

On that note...

Randle is 28, in his 9th NBA season... and he's evolving and improving.

Still.

Not linearly, but in big chunks when it happens. And it hasn't stopped... and he's 28 and in his 9th year.

I'll just let that sit there as is.
