Knicks · All-Star Randle! (page 2)

Brunson is having a great season, but Haliburton is leading the league in assists and is the better player. Rose really whiffed there.

Julius very deserving, for all his warts he’s a beast and has been really impressive.

gradyandrew @ 2/2/2023 11:03 PM
I think a seven seed only gets one guy in. It's a tough choice between Brunson and Randle but in the end I think position is the determining factor.

Maybe he did but if Brunson was always somewhat in the bag (if he had that much foresight ) than that may be a reason. Still not Good enough one though. Vassell was a whiff too.

I feel great for Julius and the Knick organization and yes for Knicks fans. Lord knows he isn’t perfect and brought some things on himself. But the amount of negativity directed at him has been ridiculously out of proportion. He’s produced and brings a toughness to the Knicks that should define a Knicks team.

Yeah, the Kyrie Irving rehabilitation killed JB's chances. At the same, Randle stayed steady whileenguysblike Siakam and Butler wilted. JB will get 'em next year.

NYKMentality @ 2/2/2023 11:25 PM
I think it's nuts how Julius Randle hasn't yet completed his 4th season as a Knick but yet already ranks (amongst Franchise History).

3rd in Usage Percentage (28.6%).
4th in Triple Doubles (7).
5th in Points Per Game (22.0).
8th in 3s made (483).
Offensive Box Plus/Minus (1.9).
10th in Rebounds Per game (10.0).

And to think he's still only 28 years young with another 7+ years left of strong play remaining?

Yo.

Don't look now...

But Julius Randle is going to go down as one of the top 5 KNICKERBOCKERS of All-Time.

Nalod @ 2/3/2023 8:37 AM
JB is deserving but knicks sending two is a stretch, and JB is in Good company with other guards not listed such as James Harden. If winning matters, they are.

As for Jules, well lets just say an allstar kind of validates the crow eating fan dumpers as reactionaries vs. visionaries.
Last night win with two starters missing, including our near allstar JB, Randle played a well balanced game. He passed out well and our guys hit shots when we needed two. The ball moved from him and RJ very nice. Quality win vs a team playing very well.

Randle career path was made harder because he missed his rookie year, then cap space needed for Lebron made him expeendible.
If he was an even smooth ascent he’d have never hit free agency and we got him. His contract here is rather a good value.
Given he came to us via unrestricted we are really quite fortunate.
Looking forward if we are to be successful franchise for a long spell one might look at his signing as the start of the new era. I’d say Phil at least stopped trading first round picks, Mills/Perry furthered the stance, and Leon is pushing it forward.
We got picks, we got yoot, we have an allstar, and we are respectable.
Its been a good season thus far!

fishmike @ 2/3/2023 8:50 AM
Awesome for Jules. Totally earned it
SergioNYK @ 2/3/2023 9:12 AM
Congrats to Randle but I honestly would have gone with Brunson (and Fox over Sabonis too). I think Brunson having a better season and he's more important to this team but it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Randle earned this. I don't think he will ever be respected or loved by fans like Ewing, H20 or Melo but to make a second All-Star game as a Knick is a huge accomplishment.

Can be said Haliburton is a better all around player. Although JB is quite scrappy on defense, he does not have the impact on that side that Haliburton does.
Still worth congratulating JB on a terrific season so far and predict big things for him in the second half and in the playoffs. Kid is a gamer!

i am not criticizing Randle's contract or play this year but i am criticizing the logic of this tweet.

He's the 11th highest paid of 12 is consistent with that he might be the 11th best of the 12. I think what the guy should have done is list some higher contracts for guys who are not playing as well as Julius

Separately congrats to Julius. I said pre-season Julius returning to all star or all NBA form will be a bigger deal than if we got Donovan. Saw recently Cavs have essentially the same record they had at this point last year.

edit: I'm not saying Julius is the 11th best AS. I'm just saying the fact in the tweet doesn't prove the point he wants to make

Feel the point is that he is one of the lowest salaried All Stars.
And that the ones claiming his contract was overvalued are now eating crow.

Tweeter could have taken several other angles but chose that one.
Another interesting one would have been the number of guys making over $40 million that did not make it. But like I said, the tweeter chose the one mentioned above. No problems with it and it's clear as to what he means.
Fyi. Haliburton the lowest paid All Star making $5 Million.

The list would've been too long to even waste time listing all of those players.

I mean to keep it simple?

Here in 2022-2023 Julius Randle has a team cap hit of only $23,760,000 (which ranks 52nd within the entire NBA).

2023-2024 = $25,660,800 (50th amongst all NBA players).

2024-2025 = $27,561,600 (37th amongst all NBA players).

2025-2026 = $29,462,400 (28th amongst all NBA players).

2026-2027 = $29,462,400 (28th amongst all NBA players).

As we can see, Julius Randle has one of the most team friendly and/or best player contracts of any player in the league; because there aren't anything close to 28-37-50 NBA players who are as dominant as Julius Randle.

He's the definition of an All-Star, steal.

Yeah, I took it as a tongue in cheek type dig at Randle's contract naysayers, no more no less.

Can we still attach #1’s and trade him for Westbrook?

As long as they attach AD and their 2027 and 2029 picks

"Julius Randle. All-Star. Again. I am so proud of you Julius. You worked here (Kentucky). You worked with the Knicks. It's not been easy, it's a battle, a fight; but you've overcome all of it. To be one of the top players in the NBA. Which means, one of the top players; in the world. Proud of you kid, proud of ya".
