I like the move because we need a 'big' wing. Our perimeter players are small. I think the roster is more balanced, the Knicks are better on paper, but this doesn't move the needle much for me... I really want to see us giving up two players and getting one back. That said, acquiring Josh Hart is a net positive transaction. There is still a minutes crunch though

He's not really a big wing tho. He's a solid competent player who will help a lot. Still wish they got more size at the forward spot. Maybe tomorrow?
If Hart makes 12 million and Cam 6- how does this trade work out financially? Seems like Obi's contract needs to be in there too.

The first rounder the Knicks gave up for Cam was a fake first tho. Still, you're right. The FO and coaching staff seemed disjointed with that move. Hopefully Thibs is cool with JHart. If the Knicks mishandle this, Hart can simply walk away and we're left with nothing

The protected first-rounder is the one that the Knicks acquired from Charlotte in exchange for the pick that became Kai Jones. It is protected top 18 in 2022, top 16 in 2023 and top 14 in 2024 and 2025. After that, the pick will convey as two second-rounders (2026, 2027).
Knicks were under no pressure to "get rid of" Cam's expiring contract, so it's more about trading 3 guys on expirings plus a lottery protected pick to get a player they see as a long term piece. The Brunson Hart connection is more important than the Reddish Barrett one.
All this goes out the window if the Knicks don't keep Hart though.

Knicks need a tall and young shooter like Watanabe. Can the Knicks deal a second for a test drive with him.
Knicks likely moving in a direction where if RJ don't start improving he will be gone. Toronto solidified it's biggest weakness with Poetl. Atlantic conference with the loss of Durant has gotten even more even talented wise. I'd expect Boston to make a sneaky little move to pick up a piece or two on the cheap

With the Nets aelling off hard, the Knicks chances of finishing top 6 and avoiding the play in went up

The CLT pick won’t convey. It was an opportunity for knicks and Reddish. Somethings don’t work out.

True, but I guess I mean more stylistically... the guy isn't afraid to be on the low blocks. I think he 'plays bigger than he is'

This is one of the guys I’ve been hoping we might get.
He is tremendously unselfish (maybe to a fault) - great ball mover, cutter, will guard above his size with really good strength. I like Hart over Caruso because there is more offense with Hart imo. Also very good rebounder and tough.
The Brunson/Nove/Archie connection would be another great chemistry, locker room and toughness add.
He could start if needed at the 2 or 3. He could be SF off bench and maybe do more scoring off our bench.

Would have loved to have gotten Kevin Love as a buyout. Not so we have can have a Hart and Love on the roster but because Live seems to kills us and we play Miami a few more times. I'm sure Miami got Love to play against us. Anyway, hopefully Mitch and Heartenstein will be able to contain him. Love always seems to kill us.

I agree with Love killing us. But I can't blame him for going to Miami, coming from Cleveland. Plus he probably gets more PT in Miami than NY.

Exactly...Love is a great shooter, something we desperately need but I'm afraid our front office has a allergic reaction to good shooters. We've never seem to go after any. i.e. JR Barrett, Obi,
