Knicks · Josh Hart to Knicks (page 11)

Ira @ 2/12/2023 7:34 AM
I loved watching jHart in his first game as a Knick. Because he's not a big scorer, this is not one of those trades that gets a lot of national publicity, but it will be a difference maker. I'm not concerned whether he replaces Grimes as a starter or gets his minutes off the bench. Just so long as he gets significant minutes and is there in the 4th quarter to drive other teams crazy.

I also saw this... any official details?

Josh hart is a good upgrade for the bench. We should be a lock now for top 6. And a great chance to get atleast rd 2

I agree. Adding Brunson last summer and Hart now makes us a playoff team. But we're not yet a championship contender. Leon and Wes still have work to do.

Those Nova teams were historically great, coached by an all time great HC, and Hart was a huge piece one, and Brunson played in both... adding those Nova squads to the UK mix is a samrt culture building move

I would think its a grow assets move. They have Sharpe and Simmons as the future guys. They move a role player (granted a good one) and get back some draft compensation while they look to upgrade center this offseason and give it one more go w/ Dame etc

I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure they could've gotten a better NBA player than Cam Reddish in return.

Knicks not only upgraded but upgraded in a big time way.

Knicks not only upgraded but upgraded in a big time way.

I think a lot of people differ on what Cam is worth.

“I’ve always liked Cam Reddish a lot,” Lillard said. “I watch a lot of games and when I’ve seen him, he’s a guy that can shoot the ball. I think he’s a legit 6-8. A good athlete. And I’ve seen him in some matchups against some good players where he can really defend when he’s focused on it.” https://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/2023/...

I think a lot of people stat stuff to make Reddish look bad, but he is a guy that since day 1 has taken the toughest defensive assignments and has otherwise been buried on offense behind high usage players.

I think Dame says it best:

“He hasn’t found a home yet, but he’s one of those guys where you just always look like, man if he gets to the right place, could it just click?” Lillard said. “Could you see something come out of it? And I take a lot of pride in pouring into guys, especially in a situation like this. So, I like the opportunity for him and for us.”

I don't want to make this about what Hart isn't, but with a team that actually gives Cam the right situation, they could have a truly superior player. We make all these defenses for RJ Barrett, and yet piss on Reddish. Same class, less opportunity, better biometrics, worse fundamentals. He needs to mature, but I think Reddish will absolutely thrive in Portland with Dame. Only thing we can say is that Hart brings more of what we need right now.

Anyone remember what Josh Hart did to our Knicks (earlier in the season)?

🗓️(November, 25th, 2022)🗓️

Knicks = 129 (OT L)
Vs.
Trailblazers = 132 ( OT W).

🗽(Madison Square Garden)🗽

Josh Hart:
10 Points (50%).
19 REBOUNDS.
4 Assists.
2 Steals.
+/- of +13.

He's a GRINDER.

Right. Plus POR would have needed to resign Hart and Jerami Grant and it would have put them into luxury tax territory.

I’m hoping by end of year the bench squad is back to running circa 2020-21 with DRose.
MS @ 2/12/2023 2:00 PM
Going forward the front office needs to have a clear plan. Don’t sign vets that aren’t difference makers and pivot immediately and give away a first rounder. Don’t trade a 1st rounder for a guy that the coach doesn’t want to play only to have to send out another first to cover up a mistake that shouldn’t have been made in the first place.

That being said we lost 4-5 games this season because we can’t grab loose rebounds. It took all of one game to see where Josh is going to elevate this team every single night… he is a beast on the boards and the he just finds the ball is in the right position and his energy is going to win games. He is also going to give the front office the ability to move RJ & Obi for a star.

If Mitch can ever stay on the floor it gives us lot of flexibility on the roster.

Best case acquisition at the trade deadline. He looked like he’d been a Knick for years last night

Same here.

C: Isaiah Hartenstein.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Josh Hart.
SG: Immanuel Quickley.
PG: Derrick Rose.

I'm thinking that'll become an elite 2nd unit and hoping Coach Tom Thibs has given D-Rose DNP's through the regular season with a long-term goal of having him 100% fresh/healthy/energized @ 34 years old (come Postseason play) for the Playoffs.

Any chance of this being a real strategy, or am I just being a Derrick Rose (@ backup PG) homer?

It won’t be with Rose, you’re definitely a homer LOL

iHart, Obi, RJ, Hart, IQ

I can't see R.J. Barrett on the bench because every team needs a 3rd Scorer and Grimes may never become a 20+ point per game scorer (alongside of Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle) especially not this year he won't.

I'd actually like to see...

C; Mitchell Robinson.
PF: Julius Randle.
SF: Josh Hart.
SG: R.J. Barrett.
PG: Jalen Brunson.

Moves R.J. Barrett back to his natural position of 2G (@ 6'6) while also allowing Quentin Grimes to have more of an impact (Offensive) Role amongst the 2nd unit.

C; Isaiah Hartenstein.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SG: Quentin Grimes.
PG: Immanuel Quickley.

(And Ladies and Gentlemen; that's Tom Thibs 9-Man Rotation right there).

Long story short I think the addition of Josh Hart gives Tom Thibs a lot of different rotational opportunities.
