Knicks · I wish we protected the 2023 pick to 18, and wish we got a 2nd back (page 1)

And I hope that hart agreed to opt in; otherwise, risk trading lotto quality talent frp for a 3 month rental

Man, wishes aren't unlimited. Save your wishes for something more valuable

So we can trade for Fred VanVleet?

BigDaddyG @ 2/9/2023 8:34 AM
I'm assuming Hart had some back channel comms with the team, but you never know. Even if they did keep the pick, it's a good bet they'd punt for some protected in 2035. Still have the Mavs pick for what it's worth.
KnickDanger @ 2/9/2023 9:09 AM
You never know of course, but the Knicks will likely be in the 18 to 20 area. If we got a player as good as Josh Hart there I would be delighted.
NYKMentality @ 2/9/2023 9:36 AM
I'm just glad to know I no longer have to root for ping pong balls due to tank teams.

And excited to know I'm now focused on the PLAYOFFS with an opportunity

In closing I couldn't care less about no draft pick between 17-20 next year because we've got way too many talented players already in Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, R.J. Barrett, Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, Immanuel Quickley, Deuce McBride, Obii Toppin and now JOSH HART (the perfect Tom Thibs role playing X-Factor).

I'm more excited and focused on this years Postseason team than I am a late 1st round draft pick.

Panos @ 2/9/2023 11:21 AM
Anyone know any posters that may be excited about something?

wrong mentality - you always want picks. they are a cheap way to improve the team

Don't we have 6 1st round picks throughout the upcoming 3 years?

Yeah.

I'd much rather focus on the Playoffs this year instead of worrying about losing a super protected pick that provided us Josh Hart.

I’m not directing this at anyone specifically, but why do I feel the people who complain about giving up a first are the same ones who complained when the FO makes draft night moves that bring in multiple firsts? And then complain that one pick was used to choose a Grimes?

it’s never too late

I think our pick (Dallas') will be close to our pick. But yeah, would have been nice to at least say the lesser of the two picks.
Panos @ 2/11/2023 8:24 AM
Well Cam scored 11 points in 17 mins on 4 of 7 and Hart scored zero, so maybe Portland should have given the Knicks a pick!

I feel like this FO is better at picking near the bottom of the first vs the top. It gives them more flexibility with moving up and down the draft or selecting a gem. So I can’t complain about the FO management on picks. They have been solid overall picking late in the first round or early second.

I think the prom queen from my high school is now 225 lbs organizing Trump boat rides in the Villages. If I get a few gin and tonics in her I may have a shot.
