How can fans "blame" Coach Thibs for the benching of Cam Reddish?
I mean.
We always call out coach Thibs for his lack of adjustments but as soon as Cam Reddish was benched his Knicks started to win ball games but yet he's being called out for making a rotational/roster adjustment?
Good luck to Cam Reddish in Portland man.

Doesn't matter now, but I sense Thibs is being a little disingenuous. Cam didn't sniff a minute in garbage time or any time even when they were short handed.

Reddish starting tonight in Portland. Pretty sure we just paid Portland to take their missing piece from us.
Lill/Simons/Reddish/Grant/Nurk looks like a better fit for Reddish. It’s not that I dislike Hart, I just think this Knicks squad is too selfish to allow young studs to explode. I wish him well and think Portland is now my fave non Knick team.
Lill, Grant, Sharpe, Reddish are all guys I really like.
BigDaddyG@ 2/11/2023 12:27 AM
Cam looks tantalizing. Wiah him the best. Maybe he needs a Dame type to get kick him in the rear.

Josh Hart helped the NO Pelicans to a 19-32 record, and then was traded to the Portland Blazers for McCollum. McCollum's leadership took the Pelicans to a 6 game playoff series vs Phoenix. The Portland Blazers finish the season on a 2-21 record.
Now, if coach Thibs were to put Josh Hart in the same DNP Dog-House he put Cam Reddish in when he arrived to the Knicks .... Now, that I would understand.
As for Cam Reddish .. The Blazers needed a 6.7 SF to help Grant & Nurk in the frontcourt. I did want Reddish 2-way performance to replace Barrett in the rotation.

I don’t root for many players on other teams. But I can see myself rooting for Cam.

Hopefully he stays healthy. I can't believe Thibs didn't (continue) to play this guy. I do look forward to Hart on this team. He is going to be a difference maker, but he will never be as good on offense as Cam. Yeah, Cam needed to be more consistent on the defensive side of things but Thibs was just too sensitive here imo.

That's a turnaround and/or win/loss differential of +8.

Correlation and causality are not the same thing.
People can differ on opinions, but I think they had a Mikal Bridges type player on their roster and didn’t give the effort to develop him.
Clearly, I am not a hall of fame coach, but I think we wasted an opportunity with Cam. Don’t really think giving up a pick with Cam for Hart is a solid trade. And I am scared that the pick doesn’t transfer and we end up giving a stupid haul of seconds for Hart. That non-convey results in 4 seconds is perhaps the stupidest move I’ve seen for any team this trade deadline. 5 seconds for Gary Payton being the other contender.
Basically, I want us to succeed, but if we do, we lose our draft pick and if we don’t we lose 4 seconds. All because Thibs doesn’t like Cam.
If Hart is worth this haul then Mitchell was worth like 9 draft picks.
MS@ 2/11/2023 9:43 AM
Cam is nothing like Bridges.
Thibs 100 percent should have played him. Especially when Toronto was handing us our ass. But with that body and this skills you should never not find a way onto the floor.
The coach is going to look real silly if Cam continues to contribute and space the floor.
Hart will be a great pickup. The team needed to get tougher and Hart does that. I do feel like the Pistons gave Bey away for some second rounders. Would have been interesting to grab both those guys for the bench and play small ball lineups. More wings the better.

Bey for Wiseman is eye opening. Will be interesting to see who Detroit picks up in the draft. They have a ton of talent but can’t seem to put it together.
Cunningham Ivey _____ Bagley Wiseman

Jalen Duren will be an allstar soon.
He will be another player the Knicks had and lost, because of stupidity. Kemba, Rose, Fournier, Noel signings. Amazing 49MM of dead salary.
Front office is getting a lot of credit for a 500 team right now.

Rose held down the fort on offense, for the bulk of a season. Cant complain about that. I wouldnt rule out Rose being part of the playoff rotation, and fresh.
Noel held down the fort when Mitch was out for an extended period. One of the best interior defenders in the league. Just couldnt stay healthy.
Didnt get Fournier over Derozan, apparently Thibs call. Or Kemba as a starter.
We're a .500 team which just got a legit franchise PG for the first time in decades. Two All-Star caliber players on reasonable deals. Some good young players to build with or trade.
We have plenty of 1st round picks left. The FO is going to whiff on some moves, they all do. Not a big deal as long as progress is being made. Look at the standings. We have a good chance of making the playoffs this season. I would call that progress.

You still lamenting about Norlens and Kemba? We did the deal with detroit to get cap space for Brunson.

.526 team for the record. In the playoff hunt. Please remind me of the Knicks record and place in the standings prior to Rose taking over. And yes those signings are mostly regrettable. And you can also inform me of the teams that make no mistakes or misplays. Oh, and how Duren would play ahead of Mitch as opposed to on a lottery team.
Haters like to present themselves as "realists." Is leaving out half the truth - the positive - realism?

Agreed...Thibs is a good coach, but I hate the way guys go from starter mins, to no mins at all even under dire circumstances. Not a fan of the so called dog-house.

Cam's athleticism and length on the wing was the look that we haven't had in a long time and will be looking for again in the near future. I feel like Thibs had him on a very short leash and displayed the type of impatience of a coach that has a team ready to make a championship run. The phase that the Knicks are in should still allow guys time and space to develop, which means playing through mistakes if the potential is there. Yes, Cam has been inconsistent, but something always felt off between Thibs and Cam, the moment he first put on the Knick uniform...

Knicks start two 2 22 year olds. Off the beanch is 23 year old IQ, 24 year old OBI, and 22 year old Deuce. The dog house is part of being a professional. Its a tough business. Not all players get three chances. He had a long one in ATL, and was here over a year. Did he get a fair shake? Did our other yoot get them? Yep. Reddish had the length and ability but not the consistency within parameters deemed important to Thibs.
Exactly what is that? I don't know.
RJ played 30 min last night. A bit less than others. I saw him run back on defense and he looks like he a bit hurt. Pro's have to play thru it. They are paid tens of millions to do it.
