Or Obi

he's the Even Fournier of power forwards. You will love him

That's so fucking cold. I peed myself

Or Toppin and 2 firsts for cam Johnson.

Big upgrade to the bench at the 3/4 spots.

Usual starting 5 with a bench unit of IQ, Hart, Barrett, Hartenstein and either Bog or Johnson

That's an interesting idea

Will be surprised if Obi isnt part of a Bojan deal. They're a young team that likes to run. And Obi isnt a good fit in NY systemwise.

Yeah, I thought Obi would be really nice in Charlotte too, running and gunning with LaMelo Ball

jesus Knicks want all the wing players I guess

So even with the poison pill, RJ, Toppin and Rose works straight up for LaVine. Then it’s just a matter of pick compensation which I’m sure is the big part.

This is the most exciting trade deadline in some time.

Just got to hope Lavine can stay healthy. He used to be very clutch, but I think injuries had something to do with the drop. Maybe being on a team with more offense, less of a load to carry, will help.

Derozan and Ball have both missed significant time.

Chandler @ 2/9/2023 1:15 PM

id rather have Bojan than Lavine. A lot of things can go real bad with Lavine from injuries to team chemistry. Doesn't strike me as a Thibs guys and wasn't surprised Minny dumped him when they hired Thibs

I wouldn’t say they dumped him. He was moved as part of the package for Jimmy Butler.

From BleacherReport

The New York Knicks are reportedly fielding trade interest for former first-round draft pick Obi Toppin, but the team isn't willing to let him go easily before Thursday's deadline.

According to SNY's Ian Begley, "Several teams talked to New York about Obi Toppin this week. The Knicks' asking price is said to be significant, as you'd expect."

Begley named the Indiana Pacers as one of the teams to have "registered interest" in Toppin. The 24-year-old becomes eligible for a contract extension this summer.

The eighth overall pick in the 2020 draft, Toppin has not been able to see much playing time in his young career. In his three seasons, he has a career average of 14.5 minutes per game. He hasn't started any of his 41 appearances this year, posting averages of 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds.

The emergence of power forward Julius Randle as an All-Star is the main reason for Toppin's lack of opportunity to see the floor. However, Begley pointed out that the youngster has not been one to complain.

"Toppin has handled his diminished role with class publicly," Begley stated. "As far as I can tell, he's done everything the franchise has asked of him."

The Knicks already acquired swingman Josh Hart from the Portland Trail Blazers, reuniting him with his Villanova teammate Jalen Brunson. At 30-26, New York is just a half-game out of the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Moving a player like Toppin would surely help the Knicks continue to improve their roster, but time is winding down for teams to entice New York to let him go.

Can you play Bogs next to Grimes? Is Bogs more of a 2 or a 3? Think I am confused as there is a Bogdan and a Bojan - is this the one from the Hawks series that played well against us?

If we move RJ for Lavine - will Thibs play him and use him for his strengths? Fine to part with RJ if it will actually play out on the court the way we envision or hope it will...

Bogs is 6'7". I thought he was a SF in Utah with smallball PF capabilities.

^^

no, this is the Detroit guy. Fishmike hilariously referred to him as like Evan Fournier perhaps causing confusion that he's a 2

Perhaps better to think of him as Joe Ingles buy Croatian. He's a 3 that is a relaible shooter (and can score other ways too)

Ok - thanks for clarifying. Can he play well enough defensively next to Randle? Otherwise we may have a similar problem lineup-wise. We already have Brunson, Grimes (maybe RJ) and Mitch next to Randle so wondering if he is decent enough defensively to play significant minutes? Having Fournier would make this feel redundant if he doesn't play solid defense cause Thibs won't play him.

Too old and doesn't move the needle either.

lol thanks... if there's a blue print for "professional scorer" its this guy. Can play some small ball 4 but he's a basket getting and not much else. If he replaces Obi off the bench that's a really nice upgrade but he's old and makes some cash and his a similar game to Fournier so you kinda wonder why bother?

He's a really good player, but he's a scorer. He's a good enough scorer to keep Randle on the bench (if that's where he's playing)

Plays a bit of 4 actually.

When I watched him play he was clutch. AND we really need some dead eye killers at the end of games. Brunson or Randle will be prime options but if everyone collapses we need a guy who is reliable at punishing the opponent from the outside. The whole league now knows JB or JR are not kicking it out in that situation and god forbit RJ gets the ball then -- recall ANt (punk) Anthony saying Minny was glad RJ had the last shot

I'm not trading Obi and a #1 for a 33yr old player. Doesn't help the future

Anyone like this guy when he was a Net? LOL
