yeah man... I am pretty sure we are moving on from RJ at some point but this NOT the big fish I'm hot to get.

Coming off the 20-21 season, pairing Randle with Lavine was my dream scenario!

Now you got that albatross contract, disappointing play, and an inflated market where you're not even able to benefit from buying low.

LOL if Thibs been pissed at RJ's defense and we give him Lavine instead...

50 minutes.

well what if it was like RJ/Rose/Obi and the Bucks/Wiz (heavily protected) picks? That is pretty low cost no? You keep all your future FRPs and trade out some spare parts for a bigger fish

That awkward mix of buying low and selling low at the same time. Who's more likely fix their issues and trend upward, RJ or Zach? I don't have an answer. I still prefer to keep RJ, but if you've given up on him (and maybe the FO has), then it makes sense.

RJ + Obi (who evidently is carrying more value around the league than I thought), plus 2 protected firsts for Lavine in year 1 of his 5 year $215M contract.

32 minutes.

We do that the glut of guards is high. Nobody wants to trade IQ or grimes but one would likely be going.

mattshaw78 @ 2/9/2023 2:32 PM
Doubt this happens because didn't Thibs wanted him traded why would he want him again

yeah its really hard. Shooter's league says Zach by far the more valuable guy. With Brunson/Randle's already established scoring Zach should get a LOT of good looks. I am tough on RJ and Obi but still like them both. Zach bigtime scares me. The hope would be a Booker type arc... good scorer but not a winner until he was on a better/right team

All i have to say is Leon has giant brass cajones if he pulls this off.

I know i wouldn't. WAY TOO MANY THINGS can go wrong with this deal. guy's knee and contract could destroy us. On the flip side if the deal is as suggested above centered around RJ I could get behind it too. RJ may continue to grow and become an AS, or he might continue to drive us nuts his whole career with selfish, inconsistent play for long stretches of a game

If i were in charge i'd push for Bojan or Bridges. If we get Bojan that can space the floor and give RJ room to operated. If we get Mikal i'd suspect RJ could be part of that deal but Mikal is a stud -- never hurt, never misses a game. I'm surprised he even comes out of games. Never tires

Injuries and that cap hit would be a lot to worry about.

And Thibs threatened to make the FO run 50 laps around the gym.

Nalod @ 2/9/2023 3:24 PM
Perception could be Chicago needed our assets to do a deal and if took Lavine as a sort of "dumped contract", and all the risk that comes with that then perhaps we in business. I know there was a price to pay for him. Seems in a world were Crowder goes for 5 2nd rounders we a bit off in our valuations.
ramtour420 @ 2/9/2023 3:46 PM
Oh crap. We better not. This guy checks off all the wrong boxes. No D. Often hurt. Bad contract. Maybe past his prime? I hope we stay away

Oh. Good job by the front office then. Cheers and pass that doobie
SergioNYK @ 2/9/2023 4:09 PM
So glad this didn't happen! LaVine is due $37,096,500, $40,064,220, $43,031,940, $45,999,660 & $48,967,380 the next five years coming off knee surgery!
This would have been McDyess/Amar'e part 2!
gradyandrew @ 2/9/2023 5:37 PM
I think teams can still complete deals that are in progress.
