Knicks · Overall I'm very happy and we have 2 open roster spots. On to the buyout market (page 1)

Even though we only had one trade it was the absolute right move for THIS team at THIS time and the cost was relatively low. Any chance you get to improve the talent and also have that player fit like a puzzle piece you have to do it, and we did. The Brock touch on the protected pick was also a masterstroke. We still have a FRP in this draft and it it was unlikely we would have added two draft picks to the roster anyway. So we traded one of those picks now rather then later to add an asset that should be just a total difference maker in this season and this years playoffs.

While other teams made blockbuster deals, we were among the group of teams taking care of business with a small deal to fill a need. I think we can actually say that the NY Knicks are no longer the laughing stock of the NBA to be ridiculed and dismissed as not relevant. We are relevant and this squad is a legitimate playoff team.

I was definitely looking in on the OG Anunoby availability or the possibility of adding Bridges. Neither Toronto or Brooklyn were ready to be serious about dealing as they rebuffed all teams inquiring so it wasn't just us falling short again so I feel good about that. One thing that is becoming obvious is that we are targeting a wing for the starting line up. I am not sure what RJ's long term future is with this team anymore. For this team to get to the next level we need players who are more consistent and RJ is still not that.

It's time to look to the buyout market or not. We are close to the luxury tax and I am sure we don't want to get their yet. We could always use Keels and Jeffries if needed. Maybe some 10 day contracts for practice bodies it's not like we need to fill those roster spots. We could use a big body however.

I am a little curios to see what we were looking to add if Obi was traded. Was it just picks or were we targeting a player. I'm also a little concerned that Wide World Wes has any sway with this front office. He seems like more of a con man than a basketball savant and I still have no idea what he actually does here. I also don't know why he would be at odds with our coach. Who gives a crap about Wes's vision for this team.

Anyways here we go into the final stretch and I am loving this team even more than I did a day ago. We have a great chance to be playing basketball in May!

Any chance Taj Gibson gets waived or bought out and we can bring him back for the stretch run ?

Knicks Nerd's take:

In no particular order, of course

I can see a guy like Eric Paschall (Villanova/ CAA) then sitting tight. Knicks added their big rotation piece without trading one away. So now it’s about getting good locker room guys.

Think the Hart trade was another reasoned positive move. I also am very glad the current Knicks FO again haven't fallen to the stupid pressure to make the stupid big splash.

Wouldnt mind Love brought in, if he isnt expecting regular minutes. Provide the same role as D.Rose, a veteran (with championship experience) to mentor the younger players. Maybe some spot minutes in the playoffs

Show how to throw a full court pass lol.

Love is lazy on D. Thibs would rip him apart here

Not a bad thought if Mitch’s injury woes continue

Thibs emphasis on D is um.. overstated. Anyway it would be mostly to point out things to the young players from the bench. I like that idea better than a player who probably wont crack the rotation anyway.

Panos @ 2/9/2023 10:57 PM
Serge Ibala have anything left in the tank?
TLover @ 2/10/2023 8:23 AM
Would not be opposed to Melo coming back to give us some instant offense off the bench or just be a mentor like D.Rose.

Also would not mind giving 1 or 2 of our D League guys a spot.

I look at this list and can’t help thinking that if Utah waives Olynyk it is to gift him to the Celtics. I also can’t help noticing that Kelly’s name is NYK like he’s destined to be a Knick 😁

Chandler @ 2/10/2023 8:35 AM
No to melo. Way too many things can go wrong and have gone wrong with MElo

Surrised there's no love for bringing Danny Green home? Isn’t he from Babylon or Bayshore? Plenty of playoff experience. I would definitely consider him

BigDaddyG @ 2/10/2023 9:23 AM
Rudy would've been perfect three years ago. Danny Green is in the spin cycle of his career. Olynyk would be useful.
Nalod @ 2/10/2023 10:41 AM
Kevin love could be useful in playoffs in spot situations. HIs range and rebounding were very good. Clev must be thinking the same. They are not very deep.
I don't imagine they don't have deep aspirations this year. Mosley will be fine but needs more time.

I'd expect Westbrook to Miami? Seems like the thing they would do.
Melo still not on any team in Los Angeles? Maybe he like "I will come if I play"? Not saying he a diva, but its logical. Does he really need to sit on the bench?

I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the roster moves but I think LAC moved off of John Wall and Reggie Jackson and would now probably sign a buyout candidate in Westbrook? Westbrook wouldn't even need to move then?

SergioNYK @ 2/10/2023 10:47 AM
I'd just promote Keels and Jeffries. No need to add vets who will expect and bitch about minutes. Rotation is set and we even have Rose and Fournier struggling to get minutes.

I wasa thinking the same thing. Serge or maybe Melo. I'd like to see Melo get 300 more points to pass Shaq on the all time scoring list.

It’s not like we even have to promote them. 2 way players can be on the active roster for 50 games. Wait, I guess they wouldn’t be eligible for the playoffs if they remain 2 way players? Is there like a break glass in case of emergency clause with 2 way players?

Rookie @ 2/10/2023 2:16 PM
Hart is out tonight against Philly. Jeffries and Keels have been moved to the active roster. I expect Hart to be available tomorrow against the Jazz
