Knicks · Knicks slowly adding “Their” guys (page 1)

Knixkik @ 2/9/2023 8:10 PM
It’s easy to connect the dots with this team. Knicks front office/ coaching are targeting guys who they have prior relationships with. Brunson and Hart are “their” guys. Randle has been given a longer leash over the years because he is too. Drafted players like Toppin, IQ and grimes all have the opportunity but as young players they have to prove it first. I feel like Grimes and Quickley are both getting there though. Donovan Mitchell is absolutely but Knicks drew the line in the sand there. Now it’s about finding the next guy who is “their guy.” It’s why I can’t see them breaking the bank for LaVine or Anunoby. I’m sure they would love to have them but there just doesn’t feel like the perfect dynamic as far as player/ team relationship. There has to be more there to put all the chips in. While Devin Booker sort of seems like the next guy, it seems like there will be other role players along the way they target in the same way as Hart. With Brunson probably being consulted along the way, I can absolutely see a Mikal Bridges push in the future. He’s not a CAA guy, but he’s a Brunson/ hart guy, and seems to have a similar basketball ethos to fit with Thibs and the front office. But we will see. Point is so many of their moves and target seem easy to project out when you take commonalities into consideration. It’s taken time but Knicks are gathering many of the guys they probably always intended.

There should be an asterisk next to Miller's record. He got off to a great start, beyond the brief "honeymoon" period. Marcus Morris was looking like an All-Star, and the playoffs werent out of the question.

Then Perry traded their best player (Morris) for the pick that got us Quickley. It was the right move, but that pretty much sunk the season. Then Covid hit, and there went Miller's shot at a full time head coaching gig.

Miller was a good coach who ran into some really bad luck.

Kept the 3 best (and then quit on everyone else).

Leon Rose 100% knows what he's doing with our Franchise.

Miller did a good job here. I hope he gets a shot somewhere to be a head coach again

Unfortunately he's probably aged out. But I believe he would make a good coach at a division 1 college.
