Zero clue what Simmons value is on open market - and I’m assuming negative contract - but he seems like toast? So he would be a salary save and then possible luxury tax save for team too if he is off roster.

Just from a math standpoint there are (very) limited combos.
$57 is basically the figure you need to hit to make the cap math work.
Fournier, Barrett and Robinson gets you over the top in just cap math.
Or Fournier, Rose (if you exercise his option to trade him, which is iffy from an ethical standpoint), and Barrett/or Robinson.
That seems so iffy not sure if "fair value" is even worth considering.

Knicks would need to be within 125% of the $57M number, obviously under for Brooklyn to get cap relief.
Nets seem less willing to deal with the Knicks since they moved to Brooklyn.

At this point the cost of offloading Simmons probably doesn’t make him a realistic target. They would almost have to offer bridges just to take that contract.

Base assumption is that Ben is no where near worth his contract.
Leon would be asking Dolan to swallow upwards of $50+M worth of excess contract $ (plus any luxury tax money Knicks would pay for probably at least for a year) to get Bridges. Plus the contract of useful players going out.
DRose, RJ, Obi = around $47M. I would assume Rose gets bought out for further Brooklyn savings.

Yeah, I think the Nets would have to bring a third team. Trade team 1) Mykal for multiple picks. I know the rumors said 4 picks, but I'm not buying it. Then the Nets would have to redirect those picks, one top 5 protected and one swap maybe, to team 2 to dump Simmons. The value of first rounders have been up and down this season, so I can't say how many would need to be included in a Simmons dump.

A team like OKC would have to take in consideration the $40m in 2024 salary for Ben, and it would (most likely?) put them into the luxury for that year. Tough swallow for them perhaps?

It's all good Mikal Bridges is already 26 years old but yet I'm still waiting for him to become a high scorer, improve his crap career assists totals as a Playmaker and also become a much better rebounder and unfortunately; he's already 26 years old and I have yet to witness any of the above (he is no 26 year old Jalen Brunson, to say the least).
I'm leaving this thread because I don't want to derail it more than I already have man.

I have always like him, but did you watch him against the Knicks ? Same poor shooting and got destroyed defensively by Brunson. Just saying if we had him people would turn on him the same way. Just like Barrett this year and Randle last year. And I would consider trading Barrett for bridges, but bridges is going to bring plenty of stinkers just like Barrett.
