When does the dunking start

When did the skills challenge become trash?

Skills challenge is terrible and the players they have aren’t really qualified if we are being honest. This whole thing made the nba look bad because it shows how many nba players simply aren’t that skilled. But obviously the league is great and outside of this type of event you have the most skilled players in the world here.

It's a bout to begin. I thought Karl Malone was cancelled?
BigDaddyG @ 2/18/2023 9:58 PM
Jericho!😱
ToddTT @ 2/18/2023 10:00 PM
The judges were kind I think. He was trying to get both arms in.
BigDaddyG @ 2/18/2023 10:29 PM
This G-League jockey is killing it.

Jericho went into last night thinking it was a jumping contest, not a dunk contest. Even then, he cheated on both dunks, pulling his left arm into the rim after the fact and later pulling himself up with the net.

McClung was awesome though!

Needs a new dunk choreographer.
Guess Obi did give him any advice.

What’s the point of the new allstar draft format ? The last pick was jaren Jackson. And now they do the starters. So why bother doing the starters last now when everyone knows the last pick was jackson? They are trying to prevent there being a “last pick” but it was jackson.

It's all stupid.

I miss the East/West All-Star games.

And please remind me to never watch another NBA All-Star weekend again.

A.) The best dunkers won't join the slam dunk contest anymore.

B.) The best 3 point shooters don't join the 3 point shootout anymore.

C.) The best Superstars don't even want to compete during the All-Star game due to fear of injury.

D.) The rising stars game(s) are a joke.

Etc.
Etc.

It's all for fan entertainment but All-Star weekend isn't fun for me anymore (no matter how hard I try and get myself excited for it).

I loved All-Star Weekend throughout the 1990's etc and maybe it's just because those were my childhood days and I had a big imagination? I don't know. But these All-Star games have felt watered down for the past 15+ years now.

I agree that they should go back to east vs west. There’s zero rivalry with the new way. The weekend stuff was always great in the 90s and even somewhat into the early 2000s but it goes in waves. Everyone wanted to do the dunk, and the 3pt was more unique because you had only so many great shooters. The skills comps are a joke. You can’t have guys like Giannis brother who can’t dribble or shoot. Same with the rookies. Need to have competitions that highlight guys talents or have players who fit it better. We saw this year the dunk contest can survive if you have a guy like Mac in it. Doesn’t matter how good the player, just get a real dunker with creativity and charisma. I love Jericho sims and he’s a great in-game dunker but his personality just doesn’t fit this type of event.

Sweet moment. Reminds me of when Jkidd was on the Nets and his son was always being shown at the games with his mom.

With the way players change uniforms the east-west rivalry is a thing of the past. So many games on TV the players are far more exposed now.
The dunking was special. When DR J came on the scene it be was art. Now its common place.
Every year you guys say how awful it is.
And your right. Not sure why anyone still watches. I read the game was a joke. I saw the highlight of the clear outs and it was comical.
But look at the stands. It was full. Many still tune in. Its not going away.

It’s a big social media weekend. Fun for the new generation. And for the players and basketball fraternity it’s a social/ party weekend. It’s more about experiencing the culture of allstar weekend as opposed to each event. Going to allstar weekend is like going to Vegas for a weekend.
