Knicks · I would bench RJ for rest of the way (page 3)

I'll give it 2 months and some of you will be getting rid of Hart. I remember when some wanted Quickly gone.

And Harenstein. And Mitch. And Randle....

RJ was needed last night when Randle and JB were out. Did a nice job with a few floaters and drives to basket in the 4th.
His efficiency was much better. 14pts on 10 FGA's. Had 2 rebounds, 3 dimes, a block and a steal. Maybe he is seeing what is keeping Hart on the floor. Issue will be how to fit the same way with our two big pieces.

I think he will be fine. In two years we will be looking back and saying we did well by sticking by him.

Good passing, over all good game. Can't pretend to know if his minutes reduced was a matchup thing or how it goes the rest of the way.
JHarts offense is last night was not there but his defense was important. Quick played a good role. Overall a good road win for knicks.
Wiz were on fire first half.

I agree Hofstra. RJ will be fine. He’s still a trade candidate if a superstar is available. I’m ok with either direction the FO goes. RJ was solid and glad to see this at the right time heading into the playoff race.

It’s crazy how RJs highs and lows are so extreme. Good game all around. Loved the playmaking. If he can make that consistently part of his game, we are a dangerous team. Stop forcing up 3s, play downhill, make the right pass and play in the flow of the game. Nice game RJ

This is why Thibs was smart to let RJ keep starting. He let IQ close the previous game, and RJ responded.

Yeah benching RJ is a risky play. Not playing in the 4th was thibs warning call and he responded. I hope RJ is consistent over these next 20 games. He seems to turn up when faced with adversity or pressure. We need this version of RJ if we want to advance to second round.

I’m not high on RJ but I think benching him is the wrong move. He may be a better player with the bench but right now, if the front office are *quietly* entertaining the idea of moving him this summer, you have to keep playing him and showing that he has value.

Besides, Hart resigning with the Knicks isn’t a guarantee deal. Knicks still have to move forward with RJ being a part of their future until he isn’t

We are 8-2 last 10 games facing good to excellent competition and RJ the other night had 25 points and 7 assists in 29 minutes. The groupthink is strong here.

My take is Thibs/Bryant are working it thru. Winning is what matters and since Jhart came they are doing with a rotation that makes sense.
Fans want to replace players when they feel there is an alternative.
Same for the coach.

Reality is money talks and RJ has a contract and everyone a desire to succeed. My take is RJ is still being groomed.
Its possible with Brunson, and Randle kicks it another gear RJ does not know/understand/grow into a role and he is forcing it.
His contract validates him to a certain extent and the pressure to perform up to it.
Randle got messed up last year. This year it took a month but he figured it out and he is on an even hire trajectory than two years ago.

I don’t know were RJ goes from here, or next year. I see his minutes reduced and he is responding with better playmaking and the shooting is coming along. Game vs. Pels was very nice.

Im my opinion Coaches seem ok with him taking offensive fouls and going hard to the basket. I think he is being coached and groomed to take over at times. Young players hit walls before taking the next step. IQ has done this and RJ looks like he took two steps back and regrouping.

Prediction? Jhart is resigned and one of IQ-Grimes-RJ is traded over the summer. I like all three. Two are exceeding draft status and one is always a bit behind. Funny, RJ is still the youngest of the is group. Only Deuce is younger by a month.
