So, we basically got Hart for Kevin Knox.

This is what happens when we repost twitter shit.
We also traded a 2022 1st round pick to get Cam Reddish. I think that became AJ griffin at 16. Do we draft better? Tari Eason was 17th, Walker Kessler 22nd. Its a crap shoot but can't just say we take AJ.
We also traded a pick TO portland that was the 23rd in the 2023 draft. That was Kris Murray. Not much after him.

Twitter can be misleading at times. Im not saying we did not do well with Josh. We did. He was not as cheap as advertised.
There is something called "opportunity cost". Defined "what else could we have done with that asset". Well, in hindsight this one was pretty good. Josh has been better than anyplace else and was a great fit for the Thibian way.

VDesai @ 11/19/2024 5:33 PM
Trading the first round pick for Reddish was a sunk cost. It happened in the past. Lost asset. Josh cost Reddish in and a first round pick. The cost acquire Reddish is irrelevant bc it was anything we could recoup.

It was a phenomenal trade - one of the best trades in the NBA over the last several years as far as single team benefit. The perfect fit for NY.

Pretty sure you are just making stuff up to discredit Twitter where your source (memory) is worse than Twitter.

Knicks traded Knox and Charlotte protected pick to Hawks for Reddish. This was sent to SAS in the Dejaunte Murray trade. Charlotte pick still hasn’t conveyed and becomes two seconds next year if Charlotte finishes less than 14.

Knicks pick in 2023 sent to Portland conveyed at #23 and the Blazers took Kris Murray. Eason, Griffins, Kessler were all 2022 picks that were all available before we traded Ousmen Dieng to OKS for 3 conditional picks.

Long story short, Knox/Reddish/Hart progression worked out well for us.

Nalod @ 11/20/2024 9:53 AM
Im in no way saying we did not do well on the trade but as you said, there were picks involved.
Thats all. It was a great trade for knicks because he has been a great fit for the Thibian way.
The draft considerations were not great as the talent pool was not awesome so the opportunity cost was not high. But it was still there.

We live in a world were social media is were many get their news from. Im a pain to some because I "police" certain things.
I like when im corrected and appreciate your clarifying the pick that went to hawks. Not a "gotcha" as some like to do. Collectively we should be boiling facts to the surface.
I was wrong about the Griffith pick and thus conveyed the 22' draft as I did.

Again, love what Josh has bought to the team. Leon might not always make amazing steals but he gets the quality in return most of the time and results have bene excellent.

Im finding it confusing they went with Matt Ryan over TJ after Shamet went down. I know Ryan's 3 ball is a weapon, but TJ has legitimate size and can offer more defensively and on the boards, which is where we are lacking. He also is career 35% from 3 and was shooting at a 40% clip in his peak offensive years before the injury. The 9th man needs to be a big wing, 3/4 type. Dadiet might be the answer, but if you're not comfortable with him, than TJ makes sense.

GOnna be interesting to see how this winds up at the end of the year. I think Randle/Brunson technically averaged around 50 ppg together - but except for the brief January run, I don't think defenses found the combination of the 2 players as something "hard to guard." They generally both scored out of ISO's, even when together on the court. KAT/Brunson can unleash a 2 man game that will make the concept of doubling on one opportunity for the other to feast.

I think pure salary cap but I am not 100% on this. Matt Ryan qualifies for a lesser vet min, TJ is a 10 year vet and his payout per day is more.

Drop some salary or make a trade or wait til later in the season, TJ would be able to squeak in.

By the math, they could have a pro-rated Shamet AND Ryan OR Warren

Sorry, but, Melo.... STFU.
Here's guy who was a tremendous scorer but could not make a single of his teammates better, and whose time in NY was largely a failure because of that, I don't really want him giving advice to anyone on this team. These Thibs teams have so much chemistry, anti-Melo in that way, don't need any of his ME-lo advice permeating this crew.

He didn't say anything wrong. The statement could be directed at anyone on the team.

Ohh. This is so true. Melo. Really really amazing at college level because he himself by himself could win it all himself.

In the NBA that approach is still really really good ( league leading scorer that one season) But he himself by himself( he did have another All Star and shooters on that team , double discount check as anyone?) could not even get out of the 2 ND round. Little playmaking and getting his teammates involved. Just stfu and fade into irrelevance already...sheesh
