Let’s start today’s newsletter off on a positive note, because there’s going to be some unpleasantness in the paragraphs to follow.
Your New York Knickerbockers are 40-20 after 60 games. This franchise has been around for 79 years and this is only the ninth time they’ve been at least that good this deep into the season. Let that sink in for a second.
Looking at the previous eight times they’ve started at least 40-20, the eventual outcomes for those seasons break down with perfect symmetry:
2 Championships
2 Finals losses
2 Conference Finals losses
2 Conference Semifinal losses
That even four-way split is going to upended in some direction by the end of June. The only question is which way.

If its her, thats awful. She lose a parent to cancer? Is it another immediate relative? If its KATs father or sibling, thats a tough row for this young man who lost his mom a few years ago to covid. Real life hits hard.

As of today we are 4th best team in the NBA just ahead of the Lakers, Denver, and Memphis with a .656 winning %. To read game comments from last night one would thing we suck. We don't. We are just three games behind Boston. But that matters little as they keep clocking us head to head. But..... the teams near us are also quite flawed as well. With a tough road trip I suppose we might lose some ground but reality is in the age of parity was are not elite, but we certainly don't suck. Maybe we get rolled by one of Boston or Clev and not reach Conf. finals. It would be about the same as last year. That was special. Now its a disappointment. Im sure Fans of Philly, Minny, and Dallas might not feel to sympathetic to our plight. I won't predict the future, but I am enjoying this present team currently.

I agree, I am much more pleased with Dolan now that he has given the reigns to Leon and essentially stayed out of the way of the team and the media for the most part. On another note, You know what bothers me Nalod? The part about the Vince Carter trade. I checked the date and that trade went down at the tail end of 2004. You know what happened 9 months later? The Eddy Curry trade. I suspect that the assets that we used for that trade would’ve been used in the Vince trade instead. I would much rather have spent 2005-2010 or so, watching Vince on that court than the disaster that became Eddy’s Knick career. At least we would have had a few playoff runs with a Marbury/Vince backcourt. Actually now that I think about it, if Allan Houston’s career hadn’t ended prematurely, a Marbury/Houston/Vince trio could have made it to the ECF or maybe further.

Dolan figuring it out 20 years later doesn't right the wrong of him killing this franchise for half my life.
Respect to Jalen and Josh for getting him to talk, because he very few have for 30+ years. That said he is still a piece of shit and always will he, even if he's joking with my favorite players. So fuck him!

Did about 10 min into that podcast and its kind of flat. Jalen is struggling and Josh is checking his phone,. Maybe it starts to move a bit. I got disinterested. Dolan is not as charismatic as some other guests but its not on him to carry the show. He is a guest.
