That last "bang", NY vs Minnesota, was off of a Randle spinover that OG took away from him. Randle standing there talking to the official...love it

Me too brother.

I've been listening to Blood in the Garden this summer on audiobook, and while its an awesome book about possibly my favorite subject, re-living all the past traumas have been harrowing. The 1994 finals, the Reggie Miller game, the Riley fiasco, the PJ Brown-Ward scuffle and suspensions...

At the same time really nice to get the stories about Mason (amazing stories about this guy), Starks, Riley and the others. Legendary group of errors.

I have made reference to this book in the past as more factually accurate than some have babbled about the past. The Riley stuff was really interesting. Dude was really insecure and the lead up to his resigning was very telling to his character.
Also interesting and perhaps made more humanistic was the tale of Charles smith, Also the Nellie situation. Should be required reading for some in these forums.
Hope Phil writes more about his tenure here. Also someone do the Isiah years. It has to be a manual for HOW NOT to run a franchise!

Oh hell yeah! I can’t wait to not see any of this during the season!

Nah, I know how this ends already. He will be back with less arc on his shot and worse free throw %. Oh, and no post moves. He is what he is. And he is pretty good at being what he is.

I wonder if he still plays Fortnite or if there is another game. That was a few years ago afterall

Saw Amare play a few time in person. He was different. Like his feet glided over the floor. Just pure athletic marvel. He seemed to accelarate in mid air thru the lane and explod to the rim which defied the logic of gravity.
I know we should have kept the pick in that weird ass draft https://www.basketball-reference.com/dra... where in hindsight Amare should go after yao ming at number 2. To be fair, Jayson Williams did get hurt so we can't get too cute on hindsight, but the next 4 picks were off base. Nene turned out to be all rook team that year and had a nice 17 year career. Carlos Boozer and Manu Ginobli go in the second round that year. Mike Dunleavy and Drew Gooden to 3 and 4?? WOW!!

Amare was drafted straight out of high school and his family life was a total mess. He defied the odds and matured on and off the court rather quickly. Rookie of the year and became an allstar in year three under MDA where in his first full season they won 62 games! He is not in the HOF (yet?) but looking at his probabilty scores he is similar to others already in.

The thinking at the time we signed him with that insane 5 year deal was he'd last 3 given his back issues. That was all PHX was willing to do. He told knicks it would take a 5 year to unseat him from PHX. The 3 year prediction proved correct as the last two years he was injured alot. With Melo it was a good idea conceptually but we were a bit thin after that trade and could not round out the roster.

I agree - also can't wait to see none of this ALL year.

Man, I wanted us to draft Amare so bad that year. I had dreams of a Camby/Amare front court with Allan at the 2, but I knew Layden would never draft a high school prospect. If this team had any sense, we would have drafted Amare that year. Then tanked the following year since Allan Houston had to undergo that microscopic procedure in the summer to repair his knee. It would have set us up for the LeBron draft in 2003. Maybe we could have had Camby/Amare/ Melo (or Wade)/H20 as your core and then clear the cap to sign a PG or SF depending on who you draft between Wade and Carmelo. Instead, we did the stupid McDyess trade, rushed Allan back from surgery causing him to be damaged goods, and wasted all of our money on taking care of his guys from Utah (Eisley and Anderson). If we had kept that 2002 pick, I think he planned to draft Jared Jeffries or Chris Wilcox with it so it would have been a wasted pick regardless.

LOL, it really is like clock work year after year. I will give Mitch some credit though, he did implement that drive to the basket from the top of the key a few times last year. Also, I remember that IHart was frustrated that Thibs wouldn't allow him to show more of what he could do on offense and went on to show out with OKC. Maybe under Brown Mitch might have a chance to show some of these skills. We'll see I guess. I just hope he can stay healthy, I wouldn't even be upset if we just keep doing some version of what we did last year by letting him sit out at least a portion of the first half of the year and give us a strong 2nd half of the year.

Where was this defense last season?

Although I heard he fouled out halfway through camp.

Seriously - should let the kid score like everyone else did all year.

Kat is such a foul waiting to happen that while I love him I don't think we get to mountain top with him unless we add 1 more perfect piece to offset Kat D & decision making.
